Tencent are looking to acquire plenty more developers, and have signalled interest in western dev and IPs for a time now. Gaming is bigger now than it's ever been (thanks in part to COVID), and streaming and subscription services will be doing huge numbers in the coming decade.
Just imagine if Tencent bought a load of popular devs and IPs, and then locked them away behind their own streaming platform. They're one of the biggest entertainment conglomerates in the world, and also the world biggest video game vendor, so it's not that far fetched.
So, what to do? Well, you buy the devs first, to protect your investment *cough*zenimax*cough*
