Tencent now owns Warframe's ass

"Hello, Tenno! As we gather our thoughts for the end of a crazy year and move into 2021, we’d like to share what’s going on with us. In 2014 Leyou purchased majority shares in Digital Extremes. During the six-year period, we’ve remained creatively independent.

Now, in 2020, Tencent has acquired Leyou, which makes Tencent our new parent company. One of our core pillars is transparency and so we’d like to let you know what that means: We will remain creatively independent, we expect no changes to Warframe or how our studio operates, and we will remain as dedicated ever to you, the community, who has been with us every step of the way since we launched Warframe.

For any additional questions, please read this FAQ we have created for you!

Who is Tencent?
Tencent Holdings Limited is a leading provider of Internet value-added services, including communications and social, digital content, online advertising, FinTech and business services in China. Tencent is best known in the online games sector for partnering with game companies such as Riot Games (League of Legends), Supercell and Epic Games, among others.

Will Digital Extremes still independently operate Warframe?
Yes, we will continue to create great content for Warframe and we will remain creatively independent. Our focus will remain on listening to you, our community, upgrading Warframe based on your feedback, and developing the kind of great stories, gameplay, and incredible new space ninja action you’ve come to expect from us. Tencent is well known for respecting the creative decisions and integrity of its studios, and for giving them the autonomy and independence to experiment, innovate and thrive.

Will this cause any changes to the game direction of Warframe?
Warframe’s direction will remain in the hands of its development team, which is 100% dedicated to its community. We got here because of you! Our creative goals remain steadfastly focused on expanding on next-generation consoles (Xbox Series X/S), innovating with The New War, forging ahead with intense space battles (Corpus Railjack), and more surprises in 2021.

Will the Chinese version of Warframe get better or faster updates than in the West?
Currently, the Chinese version of Warframe is far behind its Western counterpart. We are already working with Tencent to bring updates to the Chinese version."

So , do you guys expect any changes or will Warframe still remain the same?

I hate how all my favorite games are getting swallowed by the CCP kraken...because i will not touch them if CCP is involved.
First Path of Exile, now Warframe...this sucks.

I kinda saw this coming with the Unreal Tournament weapons skins being added to Warframe two weeks ago. Claimable via the Epic Store.
Let's see how long it takes before they remove Warframe from Steam.

Epic games needs to do something about the Tennogen first since it's bounded to steam.

Quitting Steam cold-turkey would be suicide, so expect a gradual process by thousand cuts (skins & free platinum via EGS), where they eventually retire Tennogen and change to EGS Creators. To eventually just delisting it on Steam. Like Epic did with Rocket League.

Not sure about POE. But LoL HEAVILY caters to China.
For PoE, China has their own client with their own rules and mtx. People like to blame Tencent for how price-gouging everything in PoE is but I really think it's just GGG being extremely greedy.
