I'm enjoying it a lot. The larger screen is great and is a size that allows me to really enjoy in handheld mode. I must have been lucky because my LCD seems to be pretty good quality, although it should have been OLED. The joycons are still pretty clumsy to use without a grip of some sort, and Nintendo really needs a left joycon option with a d-pad. I know there are a couple of good third party options so it's not the end of the world. I've been using the abxylute N6 for the past week or so and it feels more like using a steam deck, so that's nice.

I'd probably give it a B after the first year. I think it needs a few more exclusive Nintendo games to hit a good stride, though.
Frankly, I think folks gaslighting us to think this screen isn't fantastic are paid propagandists. Yes, the blacks aren't as black as an OLED screen. That's it. Other than that, the screen is vibrant and gorgeous.

I would rate it a B- . I got it with MK bundle on a bit of a discount.

Kids played MKW and liked it, but I think MK8 S1 version is overall a better game. It's strange that we went a year without any DLC or major improvements to the game.

Bananza I skipped and kids had no interest. The newest Pokemon game proved to be fairly mediocre but at least S2 improvements were pretty decent. That's pretty much all kids since I am not into Pokemon.

Really what saved the system for me was excellent BC with new boost option and many companies including Nintendo producing updates for S1 games. Playing some of those S1 titles in handheld mode with good performance was excellent.

I did get a few S2 games from SE and Sega on some sales, but they were all key cards which was just unfortunate. DQ3 on S2 is great but already had that on Steam Deck.

And really the main issue is that I already had Steam Deck OLED and Legion Go S Z1E so most games I would have played on the Switch I played there.

The screen issue that makes it substandard is ghosting. Colors are fine but latency is simply terrible.

That is fine on Dragon Quest but any racing or action game makes that really visible.

I guess I must play more slow-paced games or something. I've never had an issue with it.

One of the worst first years of any console I've ever owned. The only upside has been playing original Switch games in a better way, which has gone some way to justify me getting one. But still, the quality of the software has been lacking, as has the quantity - the upcoming release calendar is disturbingly barren.

I guess it's going okay. My physical collection (which admittedly has some key cards in it, blegh)

But that's just a part of my overall Switch game collection

As a Nintendo shareholder:

Thank you.

Several high-quality exclusives in the first year and updates, as it should be.

Massive third-party support, with masterpieces at launch such as Silksong, Hades 2, and RE Requiem.

I bought the system 5 months ago without expecting me to become obsessed with it, and that is basically what the first year was. So I voted C as a passing but not impressive grade. I mean, I've only bought 3 games (played 2) for the system so far, which isn't all that much.

From a first party perspective, while they had an appropriate volume of games, the quality and nature of those games was less than impressive. A $70 Mario Tennis isn't going to convince people to buy a brand new system. A kids game like Yoshi isn't the right decision for a premier system. Pokemon Legends and Metroid Prime may have been the right types of games to showcase improvements on the system via upgrades, but neither game hit it out of the ballpark.

So far, DK Bananza is the only first party S2 exclusive game that is on my serious radar, and even that one isn't particularly high. I mean, I'll probably play it eventually, but that sort of destruction based gameplay isn't what I was looking for for the first premier platformer on the system. And sadly, that's it. Sure, Pokopia and Hyrule Warriors and Mario Kart are nice to have, but not particularly in a rush for those. and Fire Emblem is the only one I've got on my radar so far; hopefully that changes next week.

Third party wise, it's a little better. FF7 Remake was cool, and not at full price which was also cool. Blue Prince was a nice surprise, as was Pragmata. I'll probably buy Kunitsugami next time it's on sale. and Adventure of Elliot is basically a day 1 purchase. So I've got stuff I'm interested in. My hope for the system was always that the "port to Switch 2" button was cheaper that the "port to Switch" button was, making it cheap enough that most companies would just roll with it. It definitely seems better than Switch, but not quite to the rate I had hoped. Still about what I expected.

But again, I didn't expect to be amazed. The era of amazing new experiences for new systems is over. Most of the games I'm interested in are indies thanks to the sheer volume of them, and most of those work just fine on the Switch. And since I have a more comfortable joycons for my Switch + a D-pad (and I play a ton of 2D games), I tend to use my old Switch more. Not exactly like the warm fuzzy feelings of the past, but such is life.

I'm not upset I bought it (especially with the price increase), but hopefully things look better in the next 12 months.

Low C. People saying A are delusional.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but didn't Switch 1's first year have Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart 8, and Mario Odyssey ... To me that's an A. Those are all system sellers. Switch 2 doesn't have a system seller yet or I'd own one. Waiting for an OLED version of the console is easy. Maybe the rumored Direct next week will change that.
I know you guys ignore the Wii U, but I, for example, played Mario Kart 8 and Zelda on it.

DK Bananza, Mario Kart World, Kirby Air Riders, Hyrule Warriors Age of Imprisonment, Yoshi, and Pokopia are indeed exclusive content, not cross-gen. It's a better first year in that sense.

And in terms of third-party games, the Switch 2 had MANY MORE third-party games than the first year of the original Switch. There's no comparison between a console that had games like Bomberman and Puyo Puyo in its first year and one that had Cyberpunk, Silksong, Hades 2, FF XII Remake, SF6, etc.

Backward compatibility is its best feature yet and it makes this console my favorite Nintendo console. I think it might become my favorite console . It's just such a nice gaming device.

I highly believe the Nintendo Switch 3 if not already the Nintendo Switch 2 at some Point will have all Console and Handheld Generations from Nintendo with all 1st Party Games available through Nintendo Switch Online which is Phenomenal :)

An A from me although edged on B as MK World is rather mid and the Indie side of things was sparse the first 9 Months.
Now why A? Because I got plenty of fun/entertaining SW2 games to play throughout and DK Bananza being my highlight, what more can I realistically ask for its first year?
