After watching the episode I got extremely intrigued. Ended up reading what was available of the manga then the LN and read future summaries...

This show has potential goddamn. Very different than the usual LN trash. I'd compare it to Overlord but without all the perverted stuff. War, strategy, politics, super intelligent MC. Hope it will be popular.

Not that I'm doubting you, but unlike most others I found this to be unbelievably boring. If the show is going to be about war strategy and politics, why open with an episode where stock standard anime trope characters introduce themselves in a ship cabin and flirt? They really didn't show anything interesting at all. I guess I'll watch what everyone says as it moves along.

They have to introduce the cast somehow I suppose. I'm thinking the war strategy stuff won't come into play until maybe episode 3 or 4 depending on how fast it goes.

I lasted 15 minutes, it was lame.

Also, maybe it's just me, but I think hiring a recently graduated high school student with almost no experience, it's just off...

It could go both ways. It could be fun and interesting like the "war" and politics in Log Horizon, or it could go super lame like those in Big Order. I actually liked the character introductions, including the loli princess and there is some promise with the set-up presented.

ReLIFE 3

So your external appearance gets regressed to look 17 years old, but inside your body still has the physical condition of a 27 year old? That's just not fair.

Anyway, this show is more along the lines of what I think of when I think of "cheap" (referring to my earlier 91 Days discussion). We know the schedule for it should have been reasonably decent - at least all the episodes were done in time to release at the end of June - but still the character art and animation never rises above competent at best. The strengths of the show come mostly in the aural department - the music and voice acting is of high quality - and in the snappy pacing of the character interactions. The characters are just quirky enough, especially Hishiro, to be entertaining without being wildly gimmicky. Kaizaki himself functions as a kind of Kyon-like character, with his constant lightly snarky and self-deprecating narration. The generation gap he continually struggles with is always amusing.

Something amazing.

Also thanks Haly for the additional insights, much appreciated!

Meh they already skip many things of LN first chapter, but i understand though, LN first chapter is too long for anime, unless it get 48 minutes first episode treatment(which it didn't lol).

I'll probably check Thunderbolt Fantasy out at some point, the tangible aspect is highly appealing to me. There's a real sense of care and craft to it, seeing all of the different textures play with one another is nice and something that is hard if not impossible to replicate with animation. It's by no means a pro over the alternative but it is different and I appreciate that.

Fun episode with some really cool action scenes. The most interesting part was the prime minister. I definitely did not expect that and now I have a bunch of questions.

Alderamin on the sky 1 - Hey, that was pretty nice. And nice to find something alright that I had no idea about beforehand. Exposition was a bit heavy though.

Thunderbolt Fantasy - 01

Yeh, that was quite fun.

Am growing extremely tired over generic Sawano music, though, and it doesn't seem to fit here well at all. Not sure if I'm liking this fast motion during combat either. Feels too sped up at times.

The one that win though...
"The Chronicle of the Male Virgin Who Travels to the Alternate World Chiirem [cheat + harem] and Gains Healing Magic."

Alternate World Station Café -> seem similar to manga Isekai Izaya Nobu, a manga about a couple from Japan who somehow got connected to fantasy world. They make a restaurant serving Japanese food to the fantasy world resident. It was a good food porn manga.

I would totally be for a show or manga or LN about petting adorable mythical creatures!

I thought you were joking, but thats a real fucking thing.

Jesus.

lol, i'm using the MC from 'how i stalked some dude' as my avatar.
Anyway, it's a decent Dragon Quest V fanfiction, so give it a try (end in cliffhanger/hiatus since the illustrator debut as a pro mangaka)
none of those compare to "How I stalked some dude with an exposed nipple and stumbled upon the Zenithian Sword"
I first read the manga because of the title. With that kind of title, can't resist to take a peek at it.

When anime has a puppet show

Meanwhile in America

I take back any doubt I had over this masterpiece. This might be anime of the forever. Only downside is the fucking Attack on Titan S2 soundtrack sneaking into the show.

That didn't take place in America and that movie was made 12 years ago! Imagine how bad a Japanese puppet show would look like that long ago.

Take your shitty CG Cars and CG crowd with you too!

Holy shit, this is amazing. It's a better Blade & Soul anime adaption than the Blade & Soul anime. God, I am in love.

Didn't know about that Thunderbolt show. I might check it out after seeing that webm on the other page lol. Have there been any other puppet/stop motion anime?

There was a show in the 80's called X-Bomber, which was contemporary with Gerry Andersons Terrahawks and used similar rod-puppets to what was used on that show. That series claim-to-fame was that Go Nagai was involved in the project, and did a bunch of design work for it.

The show itself was a SF space opera giant robot show, so aside from the puppets it also occasionally had some guy-in-a-suit-smashing-stuff action. Also, the model for the X-Bomber was really cool. Plot is kind of a Yamato knock-off, to be honest.

The show itself actually ended up getting dubbed for UK TV, under the title Star Fleet, where it ended up being surprisingly popular (and is also the version I've seen - its out on DVD here now, and Discotek announced they are releasing it in the US). Another weird claim-to-fame is that Queen guitarist Brian May put together a supergroup to record a cover of it's UK ending theme after his kids got him into the show.

The shows great, though the dubs pronunciation of Shiro as "Shy-Row" will probably drive people insane.

Way cooler than my expectation. Was expecting okay-ish show, got something legit good instead. the puppet choreography was awesome, and Sawano music fit right in with how every cast ham their every dialogue. My only complaint was seriously bad cg everytime a monster appear. Other than that, it' a solid show.

Berserk (2016) - 01 & 02

It hurts to live. As expected the CG looks ass, and having 2D close ups and golden age flashbacks highlights it even more. Also whats up with Casca seemingly being paler than my ass

Second episode had more moments I liked, though thats not saying much. I like the performance of Yoko Hikasa as Farnese, it clicked with me during the 'interrogation' scene.
The big gory sword sweep along with the cut out/in music I thought was fitting, though the clash sound effect in general sucks. It was also nice to hear Hirasawa outside of the preview, and the end stills are neat. Speaking of preview, I don't recall this spooky mansion with the huge face?

I enjoyed this a lot, it was a pretty charming start. Hikari has a really quirky personality but I like the energy she brings and it seems to be helping Futaba adjust too.

Koichi narration is so damn epic.I want him to narrate my everyday life.
New opening is great. Love the animation and the new song.
Nothing more can be said other than this episode was absolutely amazing and fun to watch.

Kind of disappointed only 8 will actually be in the tournament, I really wanted to see people like Marui in a contest but it's looking like this is all we get.

But goddamn is the cast of this show really solid.

Well, you guys seemed to like it, so I just watched EP 1. That was indeed pretty cool. I already like the characters, especially the main. Aside from that, not that much is known about the setting so far except that it's war. But so far this looks promising.

The Outcast Episode 1

Zhang Chulan is hilarious for a lead while the girl is sadly the standard lifeless unknowing powerful fighter. The zombie and magic aspect is compelling. I loved this.
