StarFox looks insane

Ngl, I lasted about 5 mins. Didn't even finish the tutorial. I've never seen the appeal of Star Fox. Ultra on rails with repetitive gameplay. There's only so much you can do flying around in a ship perpetually going forward.

The key to understanding the appeal is playing the game. Guy couldn't even make it to the end of the tutorial with all-range mode where you can fly wherever you want.

FINE, I'll give it another shot. 🫤

Don't get me wrong, it's mostly an on-rails game, but many levels switch to all-range in game. A few spend the whole time like that like the Independence Day level lol.

Of course the tutorial is going to seem boring. It's a tutorial. The challenge comes from shooting the right stuff before it passes, and killing boss before it kills you, like a space invaders type arcade game.

Makes sense. Reading the first sentence of OP might help next time.

It is a nintendo thread and im not 12 yo anymore tho

Getting back to the topic, the demo is actually pretty impressive. There's no noticeable aliasing during the cutscenes, the image quality is clean, and the textures look great (regardless of the character redesigns). The asteroid field section is incredibly smooth, with everything spinning and moving all over the place, and it feels fantastic to play.

Sure, it's an on-rails shooter, but it definitely doesn't feel rushed or cheaply made. Overall, I'd say it's a success. Definitely approved. 👍

Here's my question. It's obvious Nintendo is going to continue it's business relationship with Velan. Would you rather see them:

a. Become Nintendo's Bluepoint and remake classic N64/GameCube/3DS games with modern graphics.

b. Shepard the Star Fox franchise and develop a new sequel on their own.
B, like how Grezzo started off with Zelda remakes and then did a new one.

There's loads of other studios who can do remakes. Star Fox needs a home.

They did a great job with this remake, but remaking a game with graphical overhaul is a much different task than designing a new one from scratch.

Star Fox is the work of Nintendo's A-team flexing at their sweatiest to make the best games they could to prove the N64, sandwiched between Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time. I'm very skeptical that this can be met, or topped, just because you can nail a remake.

Of course it's something I want to happen. But I also think it's a more assured success if they remade a different game. I'd like to see some DLC levels made by these guys from scratch before making a call on it.
