I kind of like the stargate/jump concept. I honestly don't expect this game to ever be finished. I am just going to enjoy it for what it is NOW and whatever future updates come along down the road.
Still looks like an excuse to have expensive actors playing out cutscenes that we players of Wing Commander used to put up with because it was surrounding a cool game, while CR was always more interested in making movies it seems.Make fun of the game all you want but all those nay-sayers and people who were shouting "SCAM" are slowly but surely beginning to eat their crows.
it just feels like another tease without a release date
I think what we are seeing with Star citizen , like it or not, is a new way of making AAA games.
As long as people are interested in playing it? What RSI needs are people who are perpetually interested in financing it.I think the whole point is that there is no release date, I don't think this game will ever get "released".
They are going to continue patching and adding features as long as there is people interested in playing it.

The whole concept of releasing a game made sense way back when things were physical, but it ain't the 20th century anymore.
You will have to choose when or if you want to board the train.
For big games like this, i don't think it make sense anymore to go to feature complete before asking the players if they are interested or not.
That's what they are doing with every patch, they are asking, are you interested ?
If that answer is NO, then wait a little bit longer, that's fine.

It's bizarre because right now that the game is finally starting to come along the smugness of the critics is increasing in intensity and fierceness instead of giving it a break.
Also, there's absolutely no form of "pay to win" in the game at all. The advantage of getting better ships seems to be vastly overstated. And if anything, at least in the current form and unless some drastic change happens, this is shaping up to be basically the only "MMO" in existence where you can jump in with a freshly created account and contribute exactly to every single activity open to a veteran.
The cost of ships is a different topic altogether. People are in fact paying a lot of money to get extra ships, which I find questionable at best, but if anything they seem the ones perfectly willing to throw away unhealthy sums to get very little in return.
What's even more strange, many of them genuinely get angry when a certain timeframe go without a new ship released for them to buy.
Me? I just jumped in in October with a basic entry level pack and I never found myself needing for much more than that. (but of course, I have set as a goal to buy some better ship IN-GAME over time).
Forget the absurdity of a trailer to sell a ship in a game that is not even a game yet,

So what's the point of spending your kid's inheritance on a virtual fleet if it provides no advantages?
I think they said the finished game should be able to fit on a regular sad with like 100gb space. Don't quote me on that though. Right now it is 50gbHow big is this game going to be, will I need to install it on 5 2 tb ssds simultaneously? LOL!!!,
How much have you personally spent on Star Citizen?People like to support the development of a game they want. That's a pretty big point.
If the industry as a whole managed game development the way CIG does it would crash and burn within a matter of months.
the problem is this game will eventually become outdated. it's hard to imagine right now, but no game has ever stayed current forever. if there is no release date it's window of opportunity will just slip right by.

1- Why are you asking it to me when I paid just 40 bucks for the game?So what's the point of spending your kid's inheritance on a virtual fleet if it provides no advantages?
I was making a joke obviously, but in my mind the game seems so ambitious, and so long in development that I am somewhat surprised. Thanks for the reply!!!I think they said the finished game should be able to fit on a regular sad with like 100gb space. Don't quote me on that though. Right now it is 50gb
Can someone point me in the direction of how to get into this game and how much it costs. Just to get started. What are the options? Can I fly around and do missions yet or are we still not ready. Im out of the loop.
Not as of yet. Probably during the holiday stream. Ciitizencon is usually for PU stuff.Any updates on Squadron 42? That's mainly what I want out of this. More Wing Commander than Privateer/Elite online

Not cool to drag people with you into this, It's a SCAM.Make fun of the game all you want but all those nay-sayers and people who were shouting "SCAM" are slowly but surely beginning to eat their crows.
Squadron 42 is modern Wing Commander (relatively linear narrative driven action space opera with player protagonist), Star Citizen is modern Privateer MMORPG (open universe sandbox make your own fortune as one or many a la Elite Dangerous with breadth as well as depth like Eve Online). It's not rocket science...There has never been a game I understood less about that I was also interested in.
I want a modern Wing Commander game and I have no idea if this that or something else.
When it comes to consoles(I know) I'll figure it out.
Forget the absurdity of a trailer to sell a ship in a game that is not even a game yet, but I think this is done really well and shows what might be possible if this ever gets released in our lifetime.
every time i see a star citizen thread anywhere online. I feel like taking a big fat shit on it.
Can't help it please ignore me and continue this thread.
