Hesse's comics were amazing, but this intro is just incredible. I don't like it quite as much as CD's Sonic Boom opening, but this is still the best thing since Sonic's 16-bit days. The Blue Blur is back, baby. Can't wait to play Mania. Just wish Amazon UK or any other EU stores had more of the PS4 collector's edition :'(

Fuck, it looks so, so good. I don't think I've ever been this suckerpunched by pure nostalgia before. Sonic on the Master System was the first videogame I ever played and I was obsessed with the games throughout the majority of my childhood, I think this has set off something deep down.

It's so, so weird how close this particular scene is to that Tumblr test animation that was floating around months ago;

^That was doing the rounds long before the preorder trailer animation was revealed, and even before Tyson Hesse was announced to have any involvement in the game at all. It was made by an Animator called Max Collins, who deleted it pretty quickly for an unknown reason.

I wonder if he worked on this intro sequence at all? Tyson Hesse has already said on Twitter that he directed the short, but had a big team helping him out with it.
