I still play on Switch daily. It's nice to have an SSD, but its not like I couldn't go back easily. You couldn't pay to me to play on the old slow ass HDD consoles. The leap is real.
New model or old?I’m fine with both of them. Only complaint I have is my PS5 is noisy. Even after replacing it.
You are only playing cross gen games, in reality there are very few games that take advantage of this gen consoles (and one of them is a remake of a PS3 game with identical gameplay) because they need a big userbase first and the cost is so high even Sony is doing cross gen, but the games will comeI agree, XSX and PS5 are so far very modest upgrades if we compare the jumps previous generations had over their predecessors. PS4 had incredible looking games from the get go, while this gen is some extra trees and more resolution.
Of course there are diminishing returns and fab nodes just aren't that easy or cheap anymore, but still, it's the most underwhelming new generation of the modern age.
That's the thing ; we should be comparing the original model ps4/xb1 with current gen. Ps4 pro has muddied the waters a bit.The load times are the biggest game changer. I don't think this gen is going to be like, PS3 vs Killzone Shadow Fall or something. Or BF4 PS3 vs BF4 64 players on next-gen. But to be fair we've seen a mid gen upgrade not that long ago.
That's why they still sell Series X games as Xbox One games. Not meant to be a generational leap. The One X is still a fine console. More of a mini-Series X.My last gen go-to console was primarily the Xbox One X, with some occasional gaming on PS4 Pro on the side.
I got myself a PS5 and a Series X a couple of months ago. I have to say, if you don't have a 120Hz monitor, my experience so far on these consoles has been pretty... meh. They feel more like One X2 and PS4 ProPro. Especially One X has spoiled with with great IQ for cross gen games.
I hope these consoles start to put out games that showcase why you need a Series X or a PS5.
What can I play on these things that will wow me? I have Forza Horizon 5 in my living room on my Series X and in my bedroom on my One X. Sure I see some difference but it's not a generational leap.
Exact. After finishing R&C I played a plague tale (ps4 game on my ps5) and first thought "what's that ugly ps3 game ?".Ratchet and clank is a generational leap
So playing Ratchet made your eyesight shit? Should be a warning on the box.Exact. After finishing R&C I played a plague tale (ps4 game on my ps5) and first thought "what's that ugly ps3 game ?".
100%.As someone who never upgraded PS4 to Pro however, the upgrade from base PS4 to PS5 has been fantastic.
100%.
This problem seems to be reserved for people who got the midgen refreshes.
Comparing a late gen game made by a seasoned developer with an infinite budget and im sure an incredibly long development time vs an indie studio (at the time of development) on a new IP and a new genre is bizarre afReturnal has 1/4 of the resolution of RDR2 on One X. When was there a gen where games lose so many pixels vs the past gen???
2 years from now we'll have an Unreal 5 demo of some grass, to go with the desert rocks.I agree that 2 years from now we will laugh at these launch year games as being described as "next gen".
These systems have 2 things working against them... diminishing returns for power AND the cross gen business model. Being blown away by launch title graphics might never happen again for any console.
Pretty much.I agree that 2 years from now we will laugh at these launch year games as being described as "next gen".
I meant the only ones complaining are from the ones that had a midgen refresh, I’ve never seen anyone that complains about it that came from a base console. No i had a mid gen refresh and it was loud as fuck and still ran games at 30fps with slow ass loading times.
There is no version of the ps4 that competes with ps5 in terms of anything

Yes, completely. Sony and MS both are embracing backwards compatibility this time around as well. As a whole the user experience on both consoles is light years ahead of where PS4 and Xbox One were at launch in 2013.Also ignores things like Quick Resume and load times in general. There was always going to be diminishing returns with regards to graphics but it great see the significant boosts in quality of life features.
Calls the consoles garbage, promotes PC..Garbage just like last gen. This time, though, I’m not going to be a sucker. I’ll wait for the Pro or revision versions.
Happily playing on my PC in the meantime. If you don’t have a PC, might as well jump into a new console gen asap.
