Resident Evil: Veronica (Code Veronica Remake) Announced

Switch 2 version for me .. the most resident-ish version for sure.

DAMN!!! How is Capcom busting out these games so damn fast? Slave labor?
My running theory for a while now is that there are at least 3 internal RE teams:
  • Resident Evil 7 (2017) - Team A
  • Resident Evil 2 Remake (2019) - Team B
  • Resident Evil 3 Remake (2020) - Team C (?)
  • Resident Evil Village (2021) - Team A (Director was a lead designer on 7)
  • Resident Evil 4 Remake (2023) - Team B
  • Resident Evil Requiem (2026) - Team A (Same director as 7)
  • Resident Evil CV Remake (2027) - Team B
  • Rumored Resident Evil 0 Remake (2028) - Team C (?)
  • Rumored Resident Evil 10 (2030) - Team A
  • Rumored Resident Evil 5 (2031) - Team B
The only issue is that I don't know what release of theirs would be big enough to make RE skip a year (2029), but a 3 year dev cycle would simply be too short.

They didn't exactly use those words. But back when GOG was trying to get the rights from Capcom to re-release the original Resident Evil trilogy PC ports , people at GOG were quoted as saying that they didn't understand why anyone would want to go back and play though old games when there are superior remakes available. Aside from that. It comes off as Capcom wanting to move away from the old pre-rendered tank control series and replace them with a newer more consistent series. Even Dusk Golem reported that RE0 and RE1 are being targeted for new remakes after Veronica. I think RE0 and RE1 are next.

I see. So, it's more of an inference. Well, I won't complain if we do get remakes of RE0 and RE1. I loved RE Remake and the original and particularly enjoyed 0 (although I feel I may be in the minority for that one lol) and they definitely deserve the care and quality Capcom having been putting into their remakes. It's just more for us to look forward to.

That actually makes a lot of sense. Capcom really is tripling down like never before on RE games.

Capcom seems to be in a position to crank out content. They must have all those engine tools in a great, comfortable place. What you're seeing here is the result of huge investment and years of hard work on that RE Engine. Now, they've got their own tech and it appears to be molded into a banger assembly line. Hats off to Capcom. I'm still reeling over the CDPR blunder.

I remember them talking about wanting to release a new RE game every year more than a decade ago. Seems like they finally have their pipeline in order - and I love it. They do such an amazing job switching back and forth between new entries and Remakes and each new release play different compared to the one a year before.

Btw. I love it, that they are rolling with the boulder meme. Didn't catch it at first.

I dunno but RECXV is one of my most replayed REs so I'm excited.

Only year after Requiem, but the tech seems to have received a significant boost. At least on first glimpse.

Is that the new REX engine?

That grandma definitely teleported down the stairs. Considering how slow she is, the video would have been at least 15 minutes until she gets down.

Also that French voice is cringe as fuck.

Theory? I thought this was a fact.

I took it as an RE1 callback.

I also love how Chris has this whole umbrella-hunt thing going on, but finds time for weight lifting.

Im hyped but that trailer sucked. Sorry I just couldnt get passed the awful va on the old woman..Like truly awful. Should have shown some actual gameplay too tbh.
