Resident Evil 4 VR is Censored

It is ridiculous but most people have already played it so it's not like this is some watered down first time experience. The real difference is playing it in VR.

Feels as though the game will lose some of it's charm if there's less of these interactions. I assume this means the unlockable costumes are out too then?

Damn thats that way too many changes. I was looking forward to this game and was going to pick a quest up this winter. Now i just can't, you don't fk with RE4 story/dialogue that much. All the bullshit earlier promo stuff about FB stating that they were keeping RE4 as true to the original as possible was exactly that, BS.

I won't purchase this out of principal. I hate the idea of corps "modernizing" classics into current year ideologies.

KOTOR remake is another one that going to be butchered story wise.

Also if Capcom lets Facebook censor RE4 in its classic form, it could be a foreshadowing of Capcom's intentions for the upcoming RE4 remake. Not looking good.
I think RE4 remake's dialogue will be handled the same way as RE2/RE3 remakes. Some stuff will make it, other bits won't. I doubt they'll include the classic 'ballistics' line. They might keep Leon's flirtatious manner but keep it more 'tasteful'. RE4 is almost 20 years old now. Devs have matured and we live in a very different world now. Sad but true.

Fucking ridiculous.
None of those lines were offensive in anyway. And if the "ballistics" line from Luis is that bad, well, he gets skewered and dies horribly so there, he gets his "comeuppance" for being so "EVIL AND MISOGYNISTIC OMG".

Fuck this shit.

as a rift DK2 supporter and CV1 launch customer, with oculus making all these quest exclusives and crap like this i really have lost respect for them unfortunately.

I find the temperature around this game really interesting. It's one of the best games of all time, being remade for VR. How awesome.

But so few people have VR, which leads the hype to being non-existent. Not like I need hype to live, but it's interesting to me to see it unfold.

I had no idea the game was even coming this year, until now, personally. I guess there is just no feeling of immediacy for me and many others, because we're playing the waiting game with VR.

I am really getting tired of facebook even though I only like 5 people on my friendslist that I know in real life.
Also, LOL! at mark zuckerturd for wanting to change facebooks name because of something called "the Metaverse."

Next time I play Persona 5 and I am down there, if I see Mark I am telling Morgana to run his ass over Jeepers Creepers style:

Eh. It’s dumb that it’s censored, but the removed parts are such an insignificantly small part of the overall package that it’s hard for me to get up in arms about it. The reviews I’ve read seem very positive, I plan to get it at some point.

I hope this doesn’t sell. The game has sold enough “proper” copies to justify it being a classic. It doesn’t need to be butchered by agendas and puritan mindsets. I have owned this game so many times over the years. Owning the censored version in 2021 is pathetic if you ask me.

Got bad news for you then, the game will sell gangbusters by VR standards. 98% of users won't even know about the changes while another 1.5% don't care.

This is pretty absurd when you consider the fact that RE4 is currently being sold on I think four different digital storefronts with no edits. They’re not changing a damn thing culturally by doing this. The original game is still out there being sold. It just shows you how cult-like these people are. They don’t want to be committing the “sin” of working on a project with anything their type of people find even remotely questionable.

And expect more of this shit going forward with anything remade/remastered by western studios. You’re even seeing it from localization teams as well (Yakuza remasters) They will always prioritize their personal politics over respecting the original material.

You might be right, but there’s no reason to cut the source material because you feel morally obligated to take things out of context. It’s ridiculous and I can’t imagine someone not enjoying the game in the last 16 years due to their reasoning. It’s a joke. I have owned the game on just about every single console that has come out since then. I don’t need it. I’ve played the game longer than some people have probably been gaming. Why point it out? “We censored this classic game because we feel like we fixed what was wrong with it”. Bull Sh*t. They want the money it’ll bring to the table. I love the game to death, but I also don’t need it again. The mobile port was cut down to where it was just basically bits and pieces of the full version. Throw this in with the mobile port. I still don’t think anyone would get positive feedback censoring anything. If it wasn’t an issue then why do people care in the first place to write about it. Censorship is a confusing topic. On one hand it’s ignored completely (like you say) and the other it’s not their right to change something we’ve played for 16 years.

I‘ve….uh….done no such thing, and quite frankly, am offended at the mere suggestion of it…..sir!

My apologies, friend.

Of course there are also more civilized people who play games or try some of the 3d sports videos......before they get to the porn. :)

The fact that people just shrug it off is why it keeps happening, people should be vocal about this even if they do buy the game.
These morons think that people want this, that's why they do it...

It actually made me think of how humorless Western games are nowadays, there's no actual examples that come to mind that have quirky jokes and funny moments.
Maybe there's some exceptions but I doubt they were '' spicy '' on any level at all.
And the funniest jokes are often spicy to some extent.

In the Hildebrandt storyline in FFXIV for example there's a part where one of the characters are cross-dressing for comedic offense, no way in hell they'd ever do that today it'd get completely blasted for being '' Transphobic '' even tho it literally had nothing to do with Trans people at all.
Implying that Transsexuality is the same as cross-dressing is actually offensive, but that stuff would absolutely be blasted and probably cut before we even got to see it for being '' insensitive ''.

Blizzard haven't just been doing the same in WoW by essentially erasing flirting any even the most minor of sexual innuendos, but they actually did this in the remaster of Warcraft 3 too there were jokes that were cut out of the game.
There's just something really shitty and depressing about a remaster in particular having content censored like this, even moreso when it's a game as important to gaming culture as RE4 and is even among many peoples favorite games.
It doesn't '' ruin the game '' but it sure as hell makes it '' lesser '' and feel humorless.
And a lot of those jokes and lines have been memes since the game came out it's like losing a part of culture as dumb as it may sound.

Edit: Diablo 2R was also censored too, dialogue for Natalya in Act 3 was censored for being '' insensitive '' towards uh, little people.
Because apparently a rugged character referring to the Act 3 enemies as '' demonic midgets '' is offensive to real life dwarves?
I mean it's not and also why the fuck would a character like Natalya even care?
It breaks your immersion because of how nonsensical it is and makes the characters feel less real.

Same with the Assassin getting pants, just why it's not the same anymore or covering up Andariels butt.
It's just irritating as hell and these games are kinda sacred they shouldn't be arbitrarily changing shit because Twitter exists.

It's sorta a same situation with Luis too, he's meant to be sleezy.
The dialogue makes no sense now there's really awkward cuts in one case it just cuts from Ashley being calm to being ultra pissed off at Luis and it makes literally no sense, because they cut his awkward '' flirting '' out.
It goes from Luis being nasty and Ashley standing up for herself to just Ashley going from 0 to 11 in one frame for no real reason.

It might seem insignificant on an individual level, but I don't think that it is in the long term.
A lot of these moments and things are things we still remember today, they add a lot of life and character to games and makes them more unique.
The RE franchise is full to the brim of this from all of the games.
When things are made in a board room according to Twitters sensabilities I just think that it collectively makes games feel lifeless and there should be push back against that.

You might be right, but there’s no reason to cut the source material because you feel morally obligated to take things out of context. It’s ridiculous and I can’t imagine someone not enjoying the game in the last 16 years due to their reasoning. It’s a joke. Every single Resident Evil and Horror game content creator online I've seen talk about this have thought it was stupid as hell and ruined some scenes, including the women.
I have yet to see a single person that actually genuinely believes that the censorship was good because they were offended by the jokes.
I really wish '' we '' ( companies ) could stop treating women as easily offended snowflakes who are asexual and blush at the mere mention of boobs.

Much the same as with the Blizzard situation the only people I see defending the censorship are men who are basically only defending it because they think it's a way to '' get at the Gamers ''.
They don't even actually care they just want to argue with people for the sake of arguing or something.

I am hoping this sells GANGBUSTERS. The idea of mining older games, converting them to vr is genius. Gimmi Perfect Dark VR. RE7 and 8 will your at it. I'll never stop complaining about RE7
Sorry to bring the bad news:

I keep thinking how wonderful would it be to play Xbox franchises in VR, gimme dat Forza Horizon 5.
