PubG Receives Next Gen Optimization Patch for PS5 - Series S|X

adamsapple

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
How many native games has 4k on xsx and 1440p on ps5? You didn't found a bit weird such difference?

Who cares ? You're accusing the topic of being stealth console war, it's directly reporting what the PubG website is saying officially.

You're the only one trying to bring in a console war element here.

It is. I bet whatever you want if there wasn't such difference in resolution you barely cared to post such news.

Again, who gives a shit. If not me, someone else would have made this thread no matter which console was running what.

Just because you don't like the result doesn't make it a console war thread. Don't get so triggered over trivial stuff.

And here you show your true face. No I don't like who make a thread with imprecise tech data just to flame console war and then play the role of the naive nice guy when someone catch him.

He didn't even post any personal comments on it in the OP, just stuff from the article.
Though it does say "Here are the new PUBG graphics options on every console." and misses out the Xbox One/X/PS4/Pro new updates.

Listen it's not the first time who did it but ok. Argument close for me.

smh, if you don't like the thread there's no force compelling you to post in it, you can just as easily stop making it a worse experience for others like the VGTech RE3 thread or the DF Wreckfest thread.

The way some of you cream yourself when the series x beats ps5 is comical.

Nothing of the sort is going on. Most would come to the same logical conclusion if it was a Series X upgrade only. 4k30 for One X to 4k60 for Series X screams BC Boost.

The community manager is making an innocent but very likely incorrect assumption for the difference between the consoles.

I said I stop there but don't push me please.
Look at the laugh gif. The innocent pure guy who never posted thread war, never, just cultural debate and respect for the other. Jesus if I hate the hypocrisy.

So it’s a “patch”, not native build.
Possible

Their wording to me doesn't sound like just a BC patch but who knows

In April's Community Care Package, we explained the graphic level we were targeting, the various technical issues we were experiencing, and the reason for the delay in development. As previously explained, PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS on console platforms is very sensitive to memory usage. As a result, we've spent a lot of time optimizing memory usage on console, allowing us to add improved graphics options. Also, with the support from the platform holders, it became possible to differentiate between the previous generation (PlayStation®4/4 Slim/Pro, Xbox One/One S/One X) and the current generation consoles.

There is a potential stability issue in delivering the same level of graphics that many players expect on all console devices. Therefore, we've provided different maximum framerate and resolution options per console device to provide stable gameplay.

The only way for "Also, with the support from the platform holders, it became possible to differentiate between the previous generation (PlayStation®4/4 Slim/Pro, Xbox One/One S/One X) and the current generation consoles." to make sense is if this is a BC patch. Why would a native app need to tell the difference between a last gen and a current gen console?

What exactly are you trying to argue.

that it wouldn't be surprising that PUBG would actually run at 1440p60 on PS5 because the devs just don't give a shit to actually make an effort (or that they are unable to)

Same resolution as last-gen means they’re not making a PS5 version with this update. You’ll notice there’s no controller updates either.

Don't care if this game is 8K & 420FPS
I ain't never touching PUBG again
My 1st experience with the game was so bad that i can never go back to it

I tried to play this game a few times. It is the most atrocious, the most slow paced and the most boring Battle Royale I have ever experienced. Whoever did the shooting mechanics needs to get hanged, gunplay is awful. I will never understand why people like this garbage of a game.
You say "slow-paced" as if it's inherently a bad thing. The downtime in PUBG is critical to the pacing, and it's something that Apex and Fortnite really don't get right. A lot of those matches are nonstop fighting and if you make it to the 'endgame' you sometimes don't even notice. I've had more than one Apex win where it just popped out of nowhere, you're still in a fairly huge circle, you've done absolutely no strategic thinking or movement and the game is just over. Fortnite no-build is similar, but there are campier players in that so you tend to get a 'real' endgame a little more often.
Ehh not sure if I agree about the fairness of competitive shooters. Every competitive shooter has their ups and down when it comes to gunplay.

I really like the way Halo Infinite feels with shooting. But Halo Infinite sometimes has the problem of whoever usually hits first wins and there are rare cases where the person who's hitting 2nd kills you. Also, the guns in that game feel very different and fun to use.

Fortnite shooting is also fantastic, I think it's the best out of all the BRs in terms of gunplay. I don't like the building and I'll admit it's cause I suck at it and I respect those that are good at it. Thankfully, the no build mode is dope.
Fortnite has the most barebones shooting mechanics out there. There's basically no skill to develop aside from maybe controlling the SMG recoil. Every gunfight is a DPS race with easy to control weapons. You have a better weapon and a similar health pool you just win.

PUBG's mechanics require mastering recoil control for various weapons to build up your effective range. It also emphasizes hitting your first shot more than other games where spray control is so easy that it just doesn't matter. It's the kind of game where a player with worse raw FPS talent can easily defeat someone with better talent that hasn't put in the work of learning the game. And in general, that's a good thing. When I load up an FPS I've never played before and I'm competitive with veterans just because I have decent enough aim, I see that as a sign of a poorly designed game.

But I suppose it's a mystery as to why you think Fortnite has good shooting mechanics and PUBG has bad, as you failed to support either one of those statements.

As you can tell by now I am a very picky individual with what I like and don't.
The word's not "picky", it's "cunty". There's no reason to shit-post about a patch of a game you don't like and play. It's not a "Which is the best BR?" thread. At least the console warring retardery is on topic.

I remember when it came out, it looked like a game from early 2000s despite running on UE4. The optimization was trash tier too. Kudos for them keeping the game alive though and updating it for those who like it.

Happy for those who like it, but this is not for me.
I always enjoyed it in the earlier days on PC

FFS it's a patch to the BC client, not a native app.

Says PATCH right in the title.

The Patch in the topic title is my editorializing, the article itself uses the word "Upgrade".

(but I don't think the verbiage makes a difference, we'll know for sure when the patch officially launches on the 12th).

That's only the PC version.

If you've played Pub G then you'll know this update disparity has nothing to do with a power difference, both systems should run at 4k 60 without breaking a sweat. The PS5 and Series X versions are essentially resolution mode from last gen at an unlocked framerate.

Going by the wording on their official website, it seems like it's a native app, separate from a BC version. The patch goes live on the 12th and the file info on xbox will show for sure if its gen9 or gen9aware.

Just because it's a BC patch doesn't mean that it isn't using the full power of the PS5, wow, this is a big difference. :messenger_winking_tongue:

Joking. This is not a serious post. I have zero idea if this is BC or native or what and don't care. I guess someone could check the file info on Xbox if they have it installed

I cry about Xbox and hate PlayStation.
the resolution discrepancy should be due to BC.

TF difference is not going to bump one game to 4k lol, come on....and this happens on an existing last gen game as well.
If there is a huge difference between Series TF and PS5, we would have seen the resolution discrepancy on other games, especially on newer games already.
this is not first time already.

Yeah and it’s all in a patch. A native version would be spelled out.

Other thing is, no PS5 trophies in the database. Games weeks or months out show up in the database, if a full version was coming out on Tuesday we should see the trophies by now.

I’ve played this game religiously on my XBOX since it came out. I can’t deal with how jaggy things looked at 1080p/60 so played at 1440p/30 (though the frame rate is a bummer). Finally being able to play at 1440p/60 will be glorious!

Rocco Schiavone

I am terrified of Microsoft and am always concerned about them.
So I haven't found any options to change the resolution or to change the anti aliasing solution. Does this happen automatically or what?? Game still looks like ass on my PS5.
