Ontario wildfires surround a train

The sky is crazy here. This morning was truly apocalyptic looking. Didn't help yesterday was 39c feeling like 45c. Thankfully a little cooler today and the actual fires aren't anywhere near us. It was like this a few years ago and it lasted a week or so before subsiding.

Yup. It's an orange cloudy haze here. Never seen it ever. The weather app on my phone literally called the forecast "smoke". Googling it, Armstrong Ontario is north of Thunder Bay. And TB is a 14hr drive away from Toronto metro area. Here's a pic outside. It's like my avatar!

Yep, or get an HVAC filter with MERV 13 or higher. MERV 11 is advertised to stop smoke particulates, but it's not that great at stopping PM2.5. High MERV filters will fuck up your HVAC in the long run unless they're specifically built for it due to the increased stress on the motor. But for a temporary solution given what's going on, it's completely justified. Lung cancer is not fun.

I have my vacations in north of Quebec in 4 weeks or so. I doubt we'll be allowed to make fire camps unless there's a shitload of rain coming.

Wild fires are scary stuff. I worked an ics role for one last year and it was insane. I thought I was working hard pulling 12-14 hour shifts for a bit over a week but the fire fighters were pulling 24 + shifts and were back at it before I was the next day.
I was in a "base" and we got less than 30 minutes notification that the wind had drastically shifted and we were suddenly in the path of the fire. It was amazing how calm and fantastic they did it. We just moved to a new place and restarted. The old place was in utter flames shortly afterwards.
Firefighters are absolute heroes.

Hope everyone stays safe, I live right next to where LNU Lightning Complex fire was in California back in 2020(burned 363,220 acres). It is wild walking outside at like 10am and it seemed like it was night time since the smoke was so thick it blocked out the sun.

Yeah, the sky here in southern Ontario is sepia, and I can instantly smell the smoke outside.
