Man, I REALLY hope Kerry wins. I can't imagine how pissed off MIMIC, HPN, and eggplant would be if Bush were to stay in office.

And for the good of the country, ofcourse :D

I think Bush is going to win the election, so you know what that means right?

McCain/Guiliani 2008. I will have hold it for 4 more years before we get to the real candidates.

Until then, SONNY from I ROBOT for president. Writing him in. ;)

The battle for LGBT rights doesn't end with this election. It continues either way.

Right, it will be a shitload harder if Bush is re-elected, though.

True. I actually believed that "compassionate conservative" bullshit. Never did I think he was going to go this far... using the bully pulpit like this.

USA Today is reporting that 30% of Floridians who have already cast their ballots have voted for Kerry, with Bush trailing by 7-percentage points.

Funny considering practically every moderator leans left, if anything. What did you say?

The hell if I remember, but it certainly wasn't that.

I've said countless times that I am a registered Republican, only because Maryland forces you to affiliate with a party to vote in the primaries (or else I'd be an Independent) and I'm voting for Kerry come Tuesday.

Not too thrilled with Kerry, but I'd rather vote for a turd sandwhich rather than a giant douche.

although I'm currently listed as "not willing to say or something like that", I'm thinking about changing my status to Republican so I can vote in their primaries. But it depends on if Prop 62 passes or not.

I thought it was the other way around?

MIMIC: I'm worried that the polls say otherwise. It was kind of like this over the weekend:
"oh we're leading in Nevada by x number of votes already!" and then eveyone in the van circle jerks to that. It's nice to be motivated, but staying grounded is more important. In order to win Nevada, we have to do extremely well in Clark county(Las Vegas area), hold Reno, and do so-so in Carson City. I hope the remaining canvassers are up to the task.

Go Blue!!

Actually USA Today reports that 30% of registered voters have already cast their ballots and out of those, 51 % have supported Kerry and 43 % have voted for Bush. That means an 8-percentage point advantage for Kerry.
USA Today said:
In Florida, 30% of registered voters said they already had cast their ballots, using early voting sites and absentee ballots. They supported Kerry 51%-43%.

My post was just to clarify the USA Today news.

I also agree the boards shouldn't become a free-for-all poll-fest.

The levers prevent little problems like hanging chads, and trying to figure out "voter intent."

Republicans am cry.

A federal judge issued an order early Monday barring political party challengers from polling places throughout Ohio during Tuesday's election.

U.S. District Judge Susan Dlott found that the application of Ohio's statute allowing challengers at polling places is unconstitutional.

She said the presence of challengers inexperienced in the electoral process questioning voters about their eligibility would impede voting.

Dlott ruled on a lawsuit by a black Cincinnati couple who said Republican plans to deploy challengers to largely black precincts in Hamilton County was meant to intimidate and block black voters.

Freedom is on the march! It's a great thing to see. Women voting in Afghanistan, election in Janurary in Iraq, and suppressing the black vote here in the USA! Freedom is on the march! /George W. Bush

This is all so exciting! I cannot wait for tomorrow.

I WISH I HAD CABLE!!!!!

Do you think any of the big networks are gonna stream their election coverage on their websites? That would rox.

Wisconsin doctors coming out to support Kerry's Healthcare plan

http://www.wispolitics.com/index.iml?Article=26508

“The skyrocketing cost of health care is beyond the reach of millions of Americans. Many children and adults are suffering and dying because they cannot get the health care they need. As doctors, we see the problem worsening every day under the Bush Administration,” said Dr. Paul Sondel, a pediatric hematology and oncology specialist in Madison.

“John Kerry has a solution to soundly address our health care crisis. Kerry’s plan will not interfere with your right to choose a doctor or put big government in charge, as Bush claims. Kerry/Edwards is the right choice for a fresh start,” said Madison pediatrician Dr. Aaron Carrel.

Since 2000, 187,000 people in Wisconsin have lost their health insurance coverage and premiums have risen five times faster than the rate of wages. Wisconsin Doctors for Kerry is concerned that the skyrocketing cost of health care has left millions of people uninsured. They believe the wealthiest country in the world can do better and that John Kerry and John Edwards can make health care more accessible to all Americans.

These doctors have scrutinized and support the Kerry/Edwards plan to reduce the costs of prescription drugs, cut government waste and inefficiency, and extend high quality coverage to 95 percent of Americans, including every child.

Oh yeah, NO POLLS.

NO TRACKING POLLS.

NO NATIONAL POLLS.

NO EXIT POLLS.

NO REGISTERED VOTERS, LIKELY VOTERS, OR ALREADY VOTERS.

You can bring up actual vote counts as much as you want, but you'll have to keep your shirts on until then. I'm not coming back to a 1,000 page thread late Tuesday that's nothing but five minute updates on exit polls.

So who do you guys think will have the best coverage? CNN if you ask me - wall to wall, real time analysis on multiple screens. That's what I like to see. MSNBC will have a skating rink with a map of the US, the individual states will light up red or blue depending on who wins them. :lol WEAK! As for Fox, I don't know what they're doing. But who really cares. Sean Hannity or Bill O'Reilly will probably be busy telling people off while the results come in.

Then I was drunk as shit because I don't remember posting that. Was that a World Series game day? That probably explains it.

EDIT: Ah, it was the day after the World Series. I had a wicked hangover that morning, probably because I was still drunk when I woke up.

So President Bush IS, in fact, your daddy!

Btw, I've seen a little bit of news here and there, but is it safe to say that Republicans are pretty fucking corrupt in trying to manipulate the election (unjust means) this year?

Just this year? This goes back to 2000, the midterms of 2002, and now 2004. I was still in diapers for '96, though. :lol

Socreges said:
2000 in Florida, sure. Did it happen elsewhere, too?
It happens everywhere, Democrat or Republican. Corruption and "dirty pool" tactics are a part of American politics and, dare I say, politics in general throughout the world.

Absolutely. Only that I've seen much more evidence of Republicans doing this. Of course, my sources may be of one liberal media, rather than fair and balanced.

There's always the NAACP giving out crack/cocaine to people in Ohio for registering Democratic.

Both sides play dirty, always, in every election.

"Get real, they both do it."

In another thread, I listed two reasons why someone would say this, when it's pretty objective that the Republican party and its associates have been responsible for more dirty tactics in the past few years than the Democratic party.

1) You're a Republican partisan, so you have an interest in downplaying anything that reflects badly on your team.

2) Because partisan true-believerism is uncool (and if you don't believe it is, look at ErasureAcer), the proper, detached stance is to assume that both parties are equally culpable in anything, so it's useless to make any judgments about them.

We have examples of both in this thread. #2 irks me more because I don't expect anything from partisan cheerleaders, but I do expect something from people who say they are looking at both parties critically.

By assuming parallel sins on either side of the aisle, you allow one side to break the rules with impunity, helping along the problems with the system that you claim to be sick of. GIANT DOUCHE AND TURD SANDWICH HA HA HA. Parker/Stone poseurism is just as dogmatic as anything that came out of the mouths of Moore or Coulter.

what???

Anyways, it does not happen equally for both parties. The fact is that major segments of the Democratic base (ie minorities) are easily identiible. That just make voter fraud much, much easier to pull off because you know that if you disenfranchise a black person, there's a 90% you took a vote away from Kerry. Also, the poor constitute another large Democratic base, and they are much easier to take advantage of on election day.

At the end of the day, it's largely about the what it always is about: taking away voter rights from blacks and the poor. And when you look at the history of voting for both groups, there's no way you can possibly say both sides are equal in this stuff in any way.

Thank you, Mandark and Bat.

AirBrian, yes, sure, right, both sides play dirty. You've illustrated that with one example. Brilliant, and all that. But I'm talking about degrees.
