It is actually... the games I played all with less than 2 seconds loadtimes is indeed game changer.
What people should question is why multiplatform devs are not using it because seems like easy to make the loading go away.

All games not released on Xbox loads in around 2 seconds on PS5.
PC/PS only games that received patch for PS5 loads that fast.
I don't think it depend of the game but if the dev take use of it... if you do that even PC with faster SSD benefeciates from the fast loading.

Maybe you should try debating with a multi-platform developer on Twitter and see how that works out for you.
No, you get the PS4 FF7 for free*. The amount of people whom are going to expect to own this, and expect to get some form of PS5 upgrade to it for free is going to be huge. Are they more likely to catch a trailer, where free is bandied about, or are they more likely to read the fineprint on an advert image, or a PStore page? They will literally think that they get the game upgraded into PS5 version for free, but then have to pay for the Yuffie DLC.
Problem is that through either free game updates (Division 2 recent fps patch); or the precedent set by PS+ Collection (I own PS+, I now get PS5 versions of these games to play for *free)... there's too many irons in the fire, ready to burn the consumer, and give Sony bad PR, through Sony's ass communication skills since they let go of the PS4 team.
Sony already have FF7 Remake console exclusitivity on lock, with rumors whirling that they want to buy SE all together. Just spending a bit of money by doing a free upgrade onto PS5 for everyone, tying things up real nice with a bow on it, is worth the positive word of mouth. It's worth the forward momentum of once more tying FF to PS, and fueling those SE buyout rumors a little more. MS out here spending 7.2B on Bethesda. They don't need to put the effort in and make all the right moves without stupid mistakes, when can buy-back their advantage. Sony won't spend much less money to generate goodwill for itself, on something that can't possibly be more served-up on a silver platter for them. Sony went to throw the ball at the ground and somehow missed!

You don't "own" PS+ games, they are tied to PS+ subscription.
There is no PS+ version of the PS5 upgrade (which isn't released yet), it can't be tied to PS+. If your sub lapsed you would keep the PS5 upgrade (since there is no PS+ version).

I mean they are a first party studio. Surely they should have been in the loop in 2017. Especially if Sony was planning a console launch in 2019. Consoles are basically PCs nowadays anyway. I mean vega cards supported primitive shaders, no?
How do you think Rockstar launched GTA3 a year after PS2's launch in 2001? Same goes for MGS2. Kojima showed and MGS4 on a PC in 2005. He then managed to ship it on the PS3 within a year and a half. No cross gen bs. Sony had Resistance, Motorstorm, Heavenly Sword, Uncharted, Ratchet and Warhawk all come out within a year of PS3's launch and that console didnt even have a GPU until early 2016.
This is all on Sony's top brass. They are thinking as a third party publisher instead of a first party publisher whose job is to lead the way when it comes to next gen development because selling games isnt their main goal. Their main goal is to get people in their eco system and show what their console is capable of. This is why i am so against their games going to PC because once the mentality of a first party publisher changes, there is nothing stopping them from chasing profits like EA, Ubisoft and Activision. Why go for GOTY caliber titles when a mediocre title will still sell millions?

The post I was responding to was talking about designing around SSD, not pretty graphics, which HFW will have in spades.
You guys are just way too cranky about cross-gen in general. Sony makes amazing looking cross-gen games.
Spiderman Remastered/MM are a great showcase of next-gen RT for instance... and insane load times.

Sony and SE are so unpredictable, No FF15, No Nier, No Dragon Quest that were release years ago were put on PS+, but instead they put FF7 that was release less than a year ago.

SE probably will announce soon the Episode 2.
The non free upgrade for PS+ plus version tells me it was a SE request... because they want people buying the PS5 version.

The system itself is awesome.. (although a bit half-baked software wise)... Sony will produce awesome as fuck games... who cares if they have some PR losses?
Some of you had way too rosy a picture of Sony near the PS4 launch... they were shit eating grin full of shit executives then, and they still are now. Same as any executive team.
I mean the absolute kings of all awful DRM, who were the only 1st party with an "online pass" system charging users for used games... made a funny video about being able to trade PS4 games, and the entire internet forgot all about that because Microsoft was looking so stupid.
Bad PR can only mean good things for gamers, as bad PR will cause Sony do do better things. They aren't your friend.

Where exactly did this rumor come from? I've seen Phil's die-hard supporters constantly throw this into the ether as to why the PS5's GPU is a variant of RDNA 1. (I'm not saying you specifically, more so what I've seen on social media) Do people actually believe this nonsense?
Like, what 1st party games would they've launched with? Days Gone and Death Stranding? Would they have demanded Media Molecule to get Dreams out the door sooner? Everything that surrounds this rumor makes no sense.
Moreover, Jim Ryan said internally Sony settled on the price of the PS5 in February 2020. How could the PS5 have possibly launched in Holiday 2019 when the price of the unit wasn't settled till 3 months after the rumor said it was going to launch in?

100% PR... both silicon has old parts (in Series X case there is even pre-RDNA parts in the GPU... I believe there is on PS5 too but there is no information yet).
He come to try to say that I was wrong but avoided the question about the GPU silicon parts not being RDNA2... and after the “I’m the expert” I realized he won’t be honest in his tweets so I ignored him.

The blur on the Kena character is a DoF effect.
I see no sign of low resolution in these screens. Expand them to fullscreen and you can see how sharp they are.

As somebody in the industry at the time, the funniest thing is that PS4 had a very very similar always online DRM mechanism for the PS4. They just scrapped it, didn't announce it and instead hopped on the hate bandwagon.
