Surprise!!
And so there's no competition for lower prices. Their transparency is so great.support pc parts? No way. it’s anti consumer. The pro consumer MS made sure no one can buy the wrong drive
There is Xbox word in alll of it.
I'm more surprised that Sony would go ahead on this sort of release strategy for such a big game knowing it would lead to this kind of backlash.
Right now they seem to be providing Microsoft with a tonne of free ammo that they will use against them! Sure they have a huge lead going into next-gen but we're already seeing signs on the gaming forums some are getting tetchy with Sony. Microsoft are also courting the game media and YouTube influencers hard while in the meantime Sony have almost completely retracted from engaging with them so far.
In any case it looks like even if I want PS5 I probably won't get one until after launch as it stands so I'll just observe how this plays out for the next few weeks.
I really loved you, man, until I saw your hidden side...
No dude, PS Studio Logo represents all the 1st party studios at Sony's Playstation brand just like Xbox games studio. When a game has it, means that game is made by 1st party studio from Playstation brand and it's exclusive for Playstation. Demon soul's remake has it probably because of involvement of Japan Studios which is 1st party and bluepoint is 2nd party just like Insomniac before Sony acquire them. I'm 99% sure, if demon souls Ps5 sell well, Sony will acquire Bluepoint just like Insomniac. No Sony has said all games they publish will have that logo on it.
No. Sony will use that logo for any game they publish. Thats what 1st party means. No dude, PS Studio Logo represents all the 1st party studios at Sony's Playstation brand just like Xbox games studio. Yup. "ultra high speed HDMI cables" which are good for 4K@120Hz.Do we know if HDMI2 .1 cables are bundled with PS5 and XsX?
I still think 'second party' is a handy description. We all know it means a third-party studio making a game exclusive to one platform, it's the only term that describes that situation in a simple and transparent way.No. Sony will use that logo for any game they publish. Thats what 1st party means.
Sony owns the game, funds it, publishes it. Its theirs. Everything else is 3rd party.
"Alongside games developed by Sony's first-party studios -- such as Naughty Dog, Insomniac, Santa Monica Studio, Media Molecule and Guerrilla Games -- the PlayStation Studios brand will also apply to games made by work-for-hire developers under Sony's direction."
""If our studios are managing the production of these games and working with an external developer, it will still come out under the PlayStation Studios brand," Lempel details. "It doesn't mean that we outright own the developer, but it just means we brought it up as a first-party. In a lot of cases we don't own the developer." - Eric Lempel, SIE"

Also, 2nd party doesn't really exist, according to devs like Insomniac.

RAD is gone, they are with FacebookI don’t know why I’m thinking about it for a week but I really want The Order 1886 sequel to be true and Sony is working on it with RAD . Imagine what it looks like on PS5
It means nothing really. People overcomplicate the matter and focus on devs too much.I still think 'second party' is a handy description. Not really worth it for only a 3 year warranty. Seagate is not a trustworthy brand.lol, told you guys it was going to be expensive.
[Rumor] Xbox Series X Seagate 1TB SSD Expansion Priced at $219.99
Random guy (?) so take it with a grain of salt, still I can see this happening:www.neogaf.com

And because that way they can say the preorders sold out.I think MS made much less consoles, because they know there is no need to hurry. Beside US it sold much worse than PS5.
That’s.. way too much for a 2.5GB/s drive... I mean Samsung’s upcoming (presumably) PS5 compatible 980 pro is $229 for 7GB/s, and regular 3.5GB/s m2 drives on Amazon can be found for like $150. But hey, you can swap them outWell Xbox Series S/X SSD Cards are $219.99 US Dollar?

And that was yesterday, the first Ps5 preorder day they sold more than 40.000 PS5s (disc version).Spain gonna Spain.
Yes, it's also represents the 1st party studio. For the 2nd party, i understood what's the meaning, it's technically doesn't exist but it's meaning the same.No. Sony will use that logo for any game they publish. Thats what 1st party means.

And a 3 vs 5 year warranty too, at 1/3 the read speed.. but same price? Too much.That’s.. way too much for a 2.5GB/s drive... Exactly. Developers do not make consoles. 1st/3rd party refers to the publisher and the platform holder (console maker.)No. Insomniac's Sunset Overdrive was under the Microsoft Studios (now Xbox Game Studios) banner.
I'm pretty sure these are publishing related, not Dev team.
yeah wait for Adapter or Samsung version of game cardAnd a 3 vs 5 year warranty too, at 1/3 the read speed.. but same price? Too much.
Will never happen. Seagate only forever. Thats how proprietary storage works. Its designed to have no competition so the price never has to drop.yeah wait for Adapter or Samsung version of game card
Nah i think xbox talked about allowing other manufacturers in the future to make these SSD for Xbox. Will never happen. Seagate only forever. Thats how proprietary storage works. Its designed to have no competition so the price never has to drop.

Ehh, don't get your hopes up. But thanks for the source. Here’s how Xbox Series X removable storage will work
You might need a new expansion card for Xbox Series X optimized games.www.theverge.com
"Seagate will be the exclusive launch partner for these expansion cards, too. “At launch, the Seagate Storage Expansion Card for Xbox Series X will be the only Expansion Card available,” reveals a Microsoft spokesperson to The Verge. “We look forward to sharing more details in the future.” It’s not clear whether Microsoft will have its own branded expansion cards or just how many other third-party drive makers will be able to create expansion cards."
Worth noting that the Pro models are the enterprise versions, so should be priced higher than the Evo model.Holy fuck if this is the final price this is horrible. The Samsung 980 Pro 1TB costs the same and that SSD is 7gb/sec
Aus Price*
I doubt the Xbox OS would let them work. They can disable any other drives being accepted via the system software. It'll be the 1 card slot, and only Seagate cards, or the internal. Until/unless Xbox change their minds.I think creating Adapter or external shell for third party SSDs is easiest solution but the problem here is the cooling these Third party SSDs will get hot
Actually the new 980 Pro uses the same type of NAND flash as the 970 Evo, and has the same write endurance ratings. They "downgraded" to cut costs by $120.Worth noting that the Pro models are the enterprise versions, so should be priced higher than the Evo model.
I think gamers, quite rightly, are more interested in the developer than the publisher. It means nothing really. People overcomplicate the matter and focus on devs too much.
The developers aren't the "party," its the publisher.
The publisher pays for the game, the publisher owns, controls, and markets the game. They set the price, etc.
1st party game = same publisher as hardware maker. (Sony, Nintendo, Xbox)
3rd party game = everything else
1st party PS4/5 games are published by Sony Interactive Entertainment.
1st party Xbox games are published by Xbox Game Studios.
1st party Switch games are published by Nintendo.
Everything else (even say Minecraft published by Xbox on PS4, or soon to be MLB The Show published by SIE on Xbox) is 3rd party.
Not really worth it for only a 3 year warranty. Seagate is not a trustworthy brand.
Cool but thats made up by you. The terms in the industry actually refer to publisher. Real game developers say so.I think gamers, quite rightly, are more interested in the developer than the publisher.
1) Platform Owned Developer - First Party
2) Independent Developer working on exclusive game - Second Party
3) Independent Developer working on wide release - Third Party
Each of those situations is unique, the term 'third-party' doesn't accurately describe both 2 and 3. Removing the term 'second-party' only serves to remove clarity and has zero benefit.
my countryHere?
Huh. I did not know that. I've bought 3 Evos, and always steered clear of the Pros. The 970 Evo Plus has excellent performance parity with the Pro model, but worse warranty and drive life. If they're using the same flash chips in the 980, then gains must be on the controller side. Impressive, if so. Also, I wonder if they figured the write life of the 970 NAND is plenty good enough for servers. 18TB written in the past year, and probably haven't made a dent in the life of the drive. Hopefully a 980 Evo Plus can have the same parity as the 970s.Actually the new 980 Pro uses the same type of NAND flash as the 970 Evo, and has the same write endurance ratings. Speculation is there might not be a 980 Evo. But we shall see. If there is a 980 Evo, and its slower, then it might not be fast enough for the PS5.
The 1 TB 980 Pro is rated for 600 TB written. I guess the 970 Pro was 1200 TB. But the 1 TB 970 Pro launched at $350, while the 980 Pro 1 TB is only $230 but 7 GB/s. Seems well worth it. Has a 5 year warranty, should be great for PS5 expansion.Huh. I did not know that. I've bought 3 Evos, and always steered clear of the Pros. I made up the term 'second party'?Cool but thats made up by you. The terms in the industry actually refer to publisher. Real game developers say so.
Cool. The point is any game Sony publishes is 1st party. They treat them all the same. Doesn't matter if its God of War or Bloodborne. Both are Sony 1st party games. They just don't own From Software. But they own Bloodborne, same as God of War.I made up the term 'second party'?
Sure, OK. I'll take credit for it then. Think of me whenever someone uses it*.
The term is both very widely used and understood which is why Greg Miller used it in your example. I really don't care if developers use it, it's a term that's helpful in describing the relationship between developer and platform holder for any particular game.
*Pro tip, you'll be thinking of me a lot.
Also, eat more fiber so you don't take 15 - 20 minutes on bathroom breaks... unless you use those to masturbate, in which case, take longer than 20 mins if possibleUSE Cold Storage if you don't have a spare arm and leg lying around.
you can wait for 15 minutes - 20 minutes for games transfer, make it your bathroom break.
Yes you are correct, but there is still involvement of studios owned by the publisher, for example like Quality control, equipment supports, games engine etc. Doesn't necessarily means xbox or Sony just only publish.No. Insomniac's Sunset Overdrive was under the Microsoft Studios (now Xbox Game Studios) banner.
