Is this a military sim?

Military yes. Sim, ehhh.

It's an "arcade sim" at best. There's three 'levels' to it, Arcade, Realistic, and Simulator battles. It leans towards realism/technical accuracy/verisimilitude, but even in "Simulator battle" mode it's still very 'light' by proper simulator standards.
For the most part, it's a vehicular team arena shooter, especially in Arcade Battle mode. But if you've never seen an aircraft/tank/ship simulator before, the Realistic Battle mode will feel quite "simulator-y" as well.
