The HUD physically bothers me. It grinds against the aesthetic of the game... Everything else is 100%.
Imagine if they updated gameplay mechanics, and people are like , everything you said , but in reverse.I don't know, man. I know I am going to get a lot of hate for this so I'm prepared. I was super pumped about this but the more I see the more I realise it's just Demon Souls with a shiny new coat.
The AI code, enemy attacks and animations are largely unchanged from the original and to be honest it's kind of jarring to see in the midst of next gen visuals. It kind of sticks out.
I had the impression that everything was remade from the ground up. Like, their own take on how Demon Souls should play in 2020. Not have gameplay and AI that is unchanged from 2012...
It's especially jarring when Dark Souls 3 and Bloodborne have superior combat and enemy animations compared to Demon Souls.
Demon Souls was my favourite game back in the day but let's be honest, there are many aspects that are dated now.
I'm still buying this day one but I guess I had unrealistic expectations of what a remake entails.
Just my opinion please don't kill me.
It absolutely is an option in the game. Also, wanted to point out that there wasn't a downgrade. But I remember reading somewhere that in earlier footage the camera was adjusted. Not sure why, maybe for dramatic effect?
Seeing the lightning strike, particle effects, etc. It looks no different from the previous videos. Just the camera is now located where players expected and preferred it. That'd be cool if that new angle was an option in the game though, just to have.
There are two camera modes, yes.Newcomer here. The game’s camera looks very different on this video compared to the previous trailers. Is the camera adjustable?
I agree and I think the issue is that's it's being done by a different developer so there hesitant in changing/adding things. That's why the broken archstone to the land of the Giants remains inaccessible. All I can see that's new is a new move for the Spider boss and a low sweeping attack with the mace. It seems faster and smoother than before too but if that's it this is a let down. Demon Souls's gameplay feels old and limited now and if From Software had been doing the remake I'm sure they'd have done a lot more with it.I don't know, man. “We have an awesome character creator to the levels of customization players expect “
*creates a butch black lesbian*
None of the modes have RT.
If FROM themselves was working on this remake then I wouldn't mind see some gameplay improvements on it, I like Blue Points but they mostly worked on remasters and remakes so I just don't trust them to makes changes to its core gameplay. So hearing Blue point made no changes to its gameplay and using the original code is good news for me.I don't know, man. I know I am going to get a lot of hate for this so I'm prepared. can you mess with bone structure?
weird science! (top movie)
Is there a comparison between Fidelity and Performance yet?
Timestamp? I watched the first part of the video (castle gates) and the blocking seemed as off as in the first trailers. The character looks to have blocking animations now.
Fidelity mode is a mystery for no other reason than someone's stupid decision to make 60 fps their #1 bullet point. Instead of well, side dessert on the RT plate - like Spider-man Miles Morales.
Haven't checked myself, but other users pointed out that the reveal was fidelity and today's video is performance. So everything we've seen since the reveal is Performance mode?
Wow, that's weird, I feel like today's footage is uglier than what they've shown last week.

I can still fully enjoy games on 30FPS but if I have the option I will always go with 60FPS over RT or higher resolution, so performance mode is for someone like me.Fidelity mode is a mystery for no other reason than someone's stupid decision to make 60 fps their #1 marketing bullet point. You know, you're exactly right.Timestamp? I watched the first part of the video (castle gates) and the blocking seemed as off as in the first trailers.
Yeah, a bit more of info this close to release would be nice for those interested in playing it day 1.That's the thing no one really knows. Just like we can't say for certain if the camera used in this new clip is the classic one vs. the new one that appears to be much closer on previous clips (thus bringing detail closer to the player's eye view and thus appearing to look graphically better - the illusion). It's why games like God of War borrowed that camera from TLOU. It makes the game look prettier if you will on a narrower view.
The gameplay reveal clip was performance mode - by their own claim (the creative director) and DF's claim of a smooth 60fps and speculated "1440p" rendering resolution. As far as my knowledge goes... we've not seen fidelity to date. We've gotten a total of 3 gameplay clips now. All performance modes.
Well, fuck. Hope the gamepad is able to give the feedback that the visuals are not providing. You know, you're exactly right.
I skip around in this video and the previous one, and saw that one of the enemies landed a heavy blow that looked like it was guard breaking. She shield went to the side and whatnot. Everything else looks like it's non-existent. Damn.

From this video looks like classic camera because watching the video give me series case of deja vu. I think the early videos were new camera because it had "cinematic" look to it.Just like we can't say for certain if the camera used in this new clip is the classic one vs. the new one
Well I would say majority of people who are in to Souls games or FromSoftware games, care far more about gameplay over graphics and biggest reason people want to see Bloodborne on PS5 because for higher FPS.It's good that they're giving you the option. Masses and folks like me enjoy eye candy tho...... treat the majority right I say.
Do we know if fidelity is just 4k? Or will there be other benefits.
If just 4k, I will go with performance.

I'll believe that if were talking about Cod or Fifa, but I think Souls games are niche enough so the peoble that play them know how they are best played. The people you're quoting are not the majority. They're the vocal few.
That's some absolutely terrible compression on that Youtube video
But YoU CaN PlAy iT oN Ps3!!1!Arrogant Sony is back. Giving people a reason to get/own a new console.

And believe me, dodging and parrying is much easier at 60fps.

Huh, is it me or does this look slightly worse than the footage we’ve seen up until now? I mean it still looks great but I feel like it looked better in other videos
Puppeteer was awesome.Sadly it got overshadowed by TLOU.He also directed Puppeteer, so he's more than just a technical producer.
I'm not sure man... do you really think that Dark Souls at 30fps on consoles was a creative decision? And what about Blighttown running at 15fps?It's. No doubt. But it's not a significantly drastic difference that makes the experiences night and day. Despite what some creative directors say in their sales pitch when preaching to the choir as part of a greater marketing push.
Souls games have had their market expand considerably. The overwhelming majority of the new comers are not the crazy hardcore. Just word of mouth about a quality product catching on and reflecting in sales. Soul games are more mainstream that they've ever been. In other words, the "original" hardcore souls fans are not a majority anymore. But even then for argument's sake.... these games always had the option of releasing at 60 fps day one. From had the option, the creative director had the options - just like he's adamant about no difficulty settings - it's a choice. Just like Mario's or COD's ship at 60 fps. The reason From didn't ship Soul games at 60 fps despite having the option is very clear...From wanted to push those graphics to attract as many views/sales as possible and stand among the crowd. So I think people shouldn't jump the gun on what they believe the game's intended of way of being played should be. We can have options. The creators have had the option there always.... and no matter what they say on the future in their sales pitch (which changes on the whim of what could make the product sell more), no one ever forced them to 30 fps.
Looks like game design from 11 years ago.
This level of hate will never cease to exist huh? Jesus some of you people.
This is exactly what I wanted and expectedI don't know, man. I know I am going to get a lot of hate for this so I'm prepared. I was super pumped about this but the more I see the more I realise it's just Demon Souls with a shiny new coat.

I dont think that's a fair expectation. Original was an 89 Metacritic, this will likely land around the same spotThis’ll get 9.5s and 10s across the board if reviewed as a new experience.
