More than 60,000 Battlefield 2042 Players Have Petitioned For Their Money Back

I guess people didn't learn from Cyberpunk 2077.

Why can't they just fucking wait until launch day, read or watch some gameplay and reviews on youtube and then decide if they want to part with $70.

Nah, let's preorder knowing the risk that entails with buying it blindly or buy at launch after reviews and impressions and videos and comments about the game have shown up online or buy it after launch knowing full well what the state of the game is and just whine about it later demanding to be coddled and insulated from the ramifications of one's purchasing decisions and yell for refunds like children

Listen I get it, I totally understand the anger. I have the game and I'm fully aware of the issues and have whined accordingly in multiple threads here, but at some point when does personal responsibility come into play here? It's 2022, there are so many avenues for people to get more than enough data to make an informed decision on whether or not this game was a shitshow and worth your money.

If you pre-ordered it that's on you, that's the risk you always take going in "blind". If you bought it launch day, that's on you since there were more than enough impressions and videos out there to get a grasp on what was happening with the game. If you bought it after launch then why would you expect a refund? It's so well known by now what the game is all about, if you STILL went out there and bought the game how can you blame ea or dice? You made that decision yourself, no one put a gun to your head.

"Battlefield 2042 has cost consumers millions of dollars in damages and upset thousands of customers worldwide."

This just sounds like the most petulant, childish shit ever.

Again, not defending the game in the least, but fucks sake at some point people need to take responsibility for their own personal actions. Learn your lesson for next time and make better, more informed purchasing decisions.
Youre talking to the same people who played cyberpunk 2077 to completion and still got the refund. And they have the nerve to whine about publishers nickel and diming them lol.

Who knows.

I can understand people needing to put down money and pre-order hard to get cars, houses or concert tickets for a show a year from now where if you don't buy tickets at the opening bell there's no good seats left by the next day.

But preordering a game is odd unless it has some really cool pre-order perks or buy 2 get 1 free deal you got to cash in on, a limited edition collector's edition or it's a very same-ish tried and true game like COD which is basically a reskinned game every year.

Most people I bet preorder games with no bonus, no discount and it's a digital copy. This is the kind of scenario you'd think would get zero preorders.

Day one info is right there. But as you said, some reason people cant wait.

But good on gaming companies for hyping their games. Very few industries get pre-ordered sales like this.

It's weird seeing many long time gamers and enthusiasts blaming the customer for having the temerity of pre-ordering a product (something one should feel confident in doing), while essentially absolving the manufacturer of guilt for baiting and switching and delivering a product that clearly wouldn't meet expectations (or even function as advertised). It's like they lost all respect and value for themselves when it comes to this whole customer / seller relationship in video games, and don't mind if publishers get away with this kind of behavior so long as it wasn't themselves who were on the wrong end of this particular deal.

Personally, I'd never give some faceless corporation that kind of influence over me. If people want to demand they're money back, great, I hope they get it.

The customers have made a mockery of themselves. Buying a game with all the alarm bells ringing just because Battlefield is on the cover. Now that customers realize they were stupid, they sign a petition?
By signing, you're just admitting your own stupidity and inability to learn from mistakes and just let it go.
Basically, these blind paying customers (which I also was one of) are to blame for us being where we are. Cyberpunk, GTA Trilogy, BF2042.

Oh yeah, the "anti-consumer" spiel that nowadays is used like a meaningless slogan for crybabies.

If you think the product "doesn't work" actually sue and see if "Australia" judges in your favor instead of defending ridiculous petitions for the falsely entitled. Of course, you wouldn't because the product is functional and either you don't know what functional conceptually means or you don't understand English and the meaning of the word "functional." 😂

Be an adult and take responsibility for the money you willingly spend.

Pretty much. 2042 fails in a lot of areas don't get me wrong, but I don't know if I'd go as far as state "anti consumer" or something. A game can flop, but someone needs to make the case for anti consumer instead of just screaming it out and hoping it sticks or something lol.

The game even had an open beta before launch

^^ This 100%. I recall even stating that we've seen flops were you got no demo, no beta, no review ready until AFTER launch or something.

2042 had a beta before release
2042 had an early access before release
Got reviews out before release

I'm sorry folks but no fucking excuse, I bought 2042 day 1, I didn't even play the fucking beta, BF has been a day 1 for me for generations, but if someone is going to cry about this shit, at least show they put in the effort to inform themselves about the state of the game, so much information was out about BF2042, that I just don't buy that someone had no means of knowing what was wrong with that game.
I hope EA won't refund a single copy. Those people knew damn well what they're getting into, previous BFs were disastrous at launch as well, and the next BF after 2042 will be exactly the same if not worse, and they'll yet again pre-order the ultimate edition, no offence but how fucking stupid you have to be to go over and over the exact same situation and expect different outcome? Don't buy unfinished games or stfu and wait for patches.

Agreed. Its even more odd cause this is after BFV, one of the worst launches and flops in the whole series. The worst part of 2042 isn't even some bug or glitch, its the design itself. If you look at a lot of the complaints, a lot of it is about the size of the maps being too big or bland, hating Specialist, no scoreboard, no voice chat etc, too much of it is about design, its not like some thing where it just crashes, but they looooove everything else or that the servers don't work etc.

The servers as far as I can tell with 70 plus hours in are fine as I've never been booted from a game randomly, I've only crashed once by the PS home screen, the bugs in the game are more minor like the reload staying on the screen or people freezing after you shoot them or your loadout resetting itself. This could be seen in the beta, early access etc. If they choose to still buy, its on them.

It's weird seeing many long time gamers and enthusiasts blaming the customer for having the temerity of pre-ordering a product (something one should feel confident in doing), while essentially absolving the manufacturer of guilt for baiting and switching and delivering a product that clearly wouldn't meet expectations (or even function as advertised).

lol just stop man, I pre-ordered the game myself, but as a long time BF fan, I knew what I was getting into and I'm fully aware of how buggy those launches are, I didn't even play the fucking beta, didn't waste much time any reviews or anything like this, they had too much info to pretend they were unformed about this game. So anyone crying over those issues, it was talked about right here on this fucking site, we literally talked about all the issues, design choices and we talked even more about the early access and more during its review which came out BEORE the fucking game came out

Anyone could have played the beta and saw this, played the early access and saw this, read a review warning them, watched the videos online before release, watch that shit after...I just don't know what to tell you but, too much was out about this game to really play the victim or something as if you had NO IDEA something was up with this game lol The worst elements about this game were on full fucking display, it wasn't a secret and I simply can't see this as a "bait and switch" as what the fuck did you play before of 2042 that had better design that they tricked you with or something? lol

I'd never give some faceless corporation that kind of influence over me

lol oh please bud, this has nothing to fucking do with any company, this has to do with common sense. The majority of what people talked about was this games bad design, the fact that the fucking game plays better now, then at launch , yet people are asking for this shows its more so the direction BF is headed in with no scoreboard, hero shooter vibes, wide open maps that serve as actual countries lol

So that being said, you could actually see what was going on simply by playing that beta, watching the footage of it, reading this sites numerous threads about it before release, play the early access, that isn't about any one company or "faceless corporation" that is simply common sense.

You simply cant pretend a trailer forced someone to pre-order, even the trailer shown for 2042 literally shows 99% of what can be done in the game, but thats literally MOST BF trailers.

Anyone that had 9 days to inform themselves with reviews, videos and even this very forum and still kept that pre-order, its on them. EA is many things, but I don't know if I can pretend that they were not extremely open about this games condition and giving the ability to play it before release.

If you got no beta, no early access, if you got trailers with entire list of features that literally didn't exist in the final game with no word on why, if EA blocked reviews until after release....then we can talk about someone pre-ordering something they were unaware of its condition. This isn't it.

I'd be the first to even admit this game had no business coming out in 2021, but shit at least those of us who actually are ok with the game, knew that in 2021 when we bought it. I just can't feel sorry for a person buying this day 1, that can just google and get a fuck ton of info easily on this title.

lol just stop man ....

You should direct this kind of negative energy inwards (referring to your entire snipped post), do some self reflection, and stop lashing out at others with marathon posts whenever they voice an opinion you disagree with.

I'll be honest and straight forward with you here: you've been embarrassing yourself for over a month now with how you forgive DICE and EA for everything related to BF2042 - while doing a poor job of attempting to shame and gaslight people for sharing their honest opinions about this extremely poor game. At first you could have been excused for being a super fan of the franchise - which I myself have enjoyed very much up until now, and I even found some joy in this game early on. But to keep up the act for this long? It almost feels like you're being compensated to do this song and dance, but even a paid influencer would have shown some restraint and nuance so as to not give up the charade.

You are way too invested in what is a terrible video game and I feel like you need an intervention. This is plain unhealthy. I mean do you really want to be the "GAF BF2042 stan guy"?. You're going to keep putting in all this effort into defending this?

I think if you ordered the season pass you should get your money back as they did not deliver on time. (I bought it). Sadly steam support doesn't see it that way.

Good and I hope there’s a lesson to everyone!
Do not preorder,
Do not fall into the hype
And also to EA, they seriously needs to look at their own name “electronic arts” and try to make games that are truly impacting and not be a copy paste machine.

I agree.

I don't like any of their games. Except dead space. They should learn after anthem and bf failures.

They never learn. That's the problem lol.
They'll fuck up something else and move on. It's what they do.

As someone who had the game day one early access.....I hope they dont refund shit. Lessons must be learned. They pull this shit because we allow them. BF is dead and EA is a shit show. Go play the old titles but please...dont expect anything of quality from current EA or DICE.

Betas, pre-launch events, streamers who showcased the game, websites covering the game both pre and post launch, and gamers still feel forced to both pre-order and buy the game then bitch and moan and pretend to be shocked when the game doesn't meet their expectations.

A videogame is not a necessity, just wait, use ANY of the avenues of media to educate yourself on a product or play the damn game yourself before or even after launch during a free play weekend to make a informed purchasing decision.

We live in a very entitled generation where everyone can't own up to their own actions and want to push blame onto everyone else. Yes DICE fucked up, but guess what, you funded it so you're part of the problem and you have no excuse to pretend as if you got swindled.

Use this as a learning experience and move on, you're not stunning and brave for signing some weak ass petition, you're just signaling that you don't know how to make decisions for yourself and like Brittany Spears maybe you need someone to help you in the future so you don't get "cheated"

yea, stopped reading when you got just too emotion and personal. You can't even stay on topic as you've made no real argument on why the publisher or developer is at fault for someone buying something like this, this seems like it has more to do with a personal thing then any real fucking actual logically thought response. So never stated shit about "forgive DICE and EA", thats the thing with you, you seem to think if someone isn't crying as hard as you, they MUST be in love with DICE and EA and or "forgive" them etc, when nothing of the sort has ever been stated by me, I even state dozens of times that something is wrong with the teams leadership, publisher, rushing of games and that the game should have never came out 2021, how that turns into "forgive" is beyond me.

You simply have a personality where you desperately want everyone to rage and can't stand that someone might look this over logically. EA and DICE fucked up big time with this game, but shit I guess that means I'm forgiving them cause what? I'm not crying as hard as you or something? smh. I'm sorry BadBurger, but this game fucking up major (as it seems we need to remind you that as you keep fucking pretending someone MUST be acting as if they are innocent or some shit) , doesn't mean a consumer was tricked, scammed, lied to etc So I'm not going off topic with this personal shit man, you are going to get links, evidence and actual proof of this point ie facts, that is why you want it to just be some mud fight or something lol

Beta
Early Access
Early reviews

EA and DICE fucking this game up, didn't magically remove personal responsibility from the consumer. I believe you are upset because I'm not stating EA is innocent, I'm not stating they did no wrong, I'm not arguing that the game is perfect, I'm not stating it was ok to release this game that way, you are just fucking pissed off that too much evidence doesn't support your view, thus you resort to this whole personal thing and pretending I'm "defending EA" cause I'm not agreeing that consumers can just pre-order blindly and ignore reality.

You are mad cause this exist bud. Why didn't they do what many on here did and say no after the beta? 217 voted no and gave logical reasons why the were not buying.

Sorry but you have responsibly of your wallet, not EA or DICE. They gave a beta, early access and early reviews and ample time for anyone to make the right choice, that is besides the point of this royal fuck up with 2042 and its not a argument in favor of the title, its an argument in favor of personal responsibility. EA and DICE are responsible for fixing this mess, you are responsible for your own money. Stop fucking making shit an either or as if we need to cry as hard as you or some weird shit lol foh

The funniest shit about this whole thing, is this is YOUR COMMENT in that thread. " it won't be day one like in the past. I am going to need to see some post-launch impressions now, and even despite that may wait for some patches." Sooooooo what you telling me Bad? No one was able to see those issues, but shit, you were able to and look up impressions, making a informed choice to not buy it day 1, but everyone was was just scammed, tricked etc? You many times proved my exact point in those threads, you knew something was wrong because they gave enough info for you to make that choice with betas, early access and early reviews, that is why you are mad btw. None of this heads into a scam or tricked territory bud

Here is a nice snippet before that good ole ignore bud, if they can fucking see an issue and not buy day 1, stop fucking acting like personal responsibility is now void cause EA and DICE fucked this game up, they both fucked up imho. No either or....

"Heck no! After playing the beta I cancelled my pre-order."
"No. Beta put me off of the game."
"The geometry at least in the map that was shown is so simple, and the amount of glitches and jankie movements tells me this game will need few more months in the cooker."
"I was super hyped before but after playing the beta I grew a bit unsure"
"From playing the beta, no."
"Probably not, at least not at launch."
"It's not fun imo, hard pass."
"I cancelled my preorder and to a refund for £81 from Microsoft"
"Battlefield 2042 doesn't seem to meet any of these things that we want"

^ Have a good one Bad. =)

All I will say is dice/ea earned this petition. Regardless of wether I get money back they gotta know people are not happy with this. I played the demo heard all talk about how it was old build and retail game would be better. They lost me at no in game chat among other things. they know what people were expecting. It’s a bad release.

Refunded it after the "Beta"
We were really hoping it was going to be good, but saw more then enough of the rough shape of things to warrent the money, time and energi spent with this game.
Maybe... they'll get it right the next time.
Or not.

Almost 150k now lol.

I enjoyed the beta but wasn't blown away. I should have cancelled my pre order and waited to see. I still haven't downloaded it despite getting it day 1 lol. So if I get offered a refund I'll gladly take it and maybe rebuy on sale in a few years.

I guess people didn't learn from Cyberpunk 2077.

Why can't they just fucking wait until launch day, read or watch some gameplay and reviews on youtube and then decide if they want to part with $70.

I bought the game and played for 50 hours. I really enjoyed the Beta which is when I purchased the Gold version. I was convinced I was going to love the game.

Then the game came out and it's far far worse than the Beta it's almost unbelievable.

I still signed the petition, it took a lot of time to figure out just how fundamentally busted this game is and how depressing it is to play this game. Jump back into BF4 for a short period and it makes that sense so much bloody worse.

I'm not going to pre-order games anymore though. Even if I'm sure I'll like it. I can be patient and I don't need the pre-load.

It's about to get to 150k signature.

It's being hit so hard right now Cloudfire is having problems keeping up. Pages of people signing just within the past hour. Someone with a big social media presence must have shared it very recently, or something like that is going on.

To be fair, the beta wasn't that accurate a representation of the full game. The vehicles that turn it into Carmageddon weren't there.

I still don't understand how people can be so blindly optimistic about this series though, especially after the way BFV went.

That's crazy, I can't wait to see EA response to this.

The amount of hype that was present on this board even purely based upon fuckin' bullshots and CGI trailers was astonishing. I thought the average age here was supposed to be older at least? Have you cunts learned nothing lol.

Stop. Pre-ordering. Games. Especially from big publishers that definitely aren't dependent nor deserving of your money upfront.

I’m not going for a refund because I put my money that I spend on this game into the “lesson learned” corner.

F2P is the only solution for a healthy player base for this game. I don’t see how they are going to sell units for this game anymore.
I might try it end of the year 2022 again but it’s just not fun right now

The petition is over 166k now and steadily climbing. It got picked up by a conventional news source as well:

With 95K negative reviews on Steam this now dwarfs even that number (though I am sure there's a not insignificant number of duplicates and fakes that signed the petition). I wonder if EA brass takes things very seriously at all.

More valuable is the lesson these buyers should have learned.
I will NEVER understand why people pre-order video games, it makes no sense at all to me.

It’s not like it’s a limited run, just wait and pay for it when you’re actually going to play it.

🤷🏼‍♂️
