Microsoft has reportedly eased the pressure on its Xbox gaming division

Coming in the next year:

Announcements of games exclusive to Xbox hardware and pc.

Bookmark it!
Gamepass exclusives.

Yup.

Gamepass is currently bigger than Xbox will ever be in the future. Once they drop consoles Gamepass subscription numbers will shrink like never before. Because console is where most start and they won't have paid online on PC. And game purchases on Xbox and PC will almost disappear once Steam is on the UI.
So, Gamepass exclusivity will be a thing. Book it. Either that or Xbox App exclusivity but I would vote on GP.

Xbox and 360 Backwards Compatibility will be exclusive to Gamepass as well.

Enjoy!

Relieving pressure after all the changes were already made?

It doesn't matter if he's telling the truth, or telling us what some pr person whispered to try changing narratives, or if the entire thing was made up from whole cloth. The only thing that matters is pricing and intended audience. So wake me up if we see actual price drops announced, or if a material game is actually exclusive.

You guys don't understand business because you look at it though fanboy perspective. What is going on here is that MS along with other tech companies have burned billions on the AI train and realistically they have nothing to show for it. Xbox gaming has been successful and make MS more money than Windows. You get on here with your banter and don't realize that while not as successful as Nintendo or Sony they do make money. They now see Xbox gaming as a possible source of growth and now they want to take advantage of it but they have to do it right. Everyone can't be number 1 but everyone can make money. I think that MS leadership may have put a new value on gaming and felt that Phil and Sara Bond were not the ones to lead them into the new direction. If the pressure on the division has been eased that is a sign that they are playing the long game.

Xbox gaming has been successful

If there's truth to this the key word is "ease." I find that somewhat believable.

However I don't know what the fuck their current plans are going to do to them other than massively lower their revenue.

It would make sense, if true. The previously rumored expectations (30%) were absurdly high, especially in today's market. You can't realistically hold the entire division to that standard -- might as well just shutter the thing, because it's a foregone conclusion that they won't hit that target. Plus, Xbox is now under new management, and they would want to give her a little breathing room.

It's coming from Jez, though, so who knows what the reality is.

So far Asha is following the Spencer plan. It is way too late for her to do anything drastically different when it comes to hardware. Maybe they are buying her some time to see what she comes up with once she is on her own. I say give her four to five years to see where she takes it. That gives her time to get past the launch of Helix and to start implementing some of her own plans. Is she the last hope for Xbox?

She's not going to be there that long. Seems that her career is hanging around for about 4 years at most before jumping to something new. Lots of people like this.

She might be there to see Xbox going through the much drastic pain it's about to feel as it resets what it can, and then she'll bounce off to next CEO/Exec position elsewhere.

Sure :)

1. Spent billions on buying studios,
2. Releasing the most expensive new consoles ever,
3. Sales for Xbox HW at lowest point ever,
4. No exclusive games.

And now they are fine with lower margins........Yeah that is the formule for success.
You may have a point if you weren't talking about Microsoft, a company that basically prints money.

This is a good sign cus Xbox only got to its prime the less Microsoft was involved in the Xbox Team

But then again its hard to get excited about anything with this company

At this sound they should probably just stick to being a publisher.

They have tried so many times with consoles and their market share gets less and less. And popularity worse and worse.

They are now building effectively a PC, with a Steam store. Seems completely out of ideas, they have now resorted to marginalising their own store.

If true, then Amy Hood and Nadella were obviously putting the thumbscrews to Phil Spencer to force him out. They knew damn well he wouldn't be able to hit the targets.

I think it's a simpler explanation. Microsoft's C-suite simply cannot help themselves from constantly butting into Xbox and making top-down enterprise business decisions, then realized that forcing Xbox down this path was a huge mistake that would kill the brand and are now butting in again to undo their previous bonehead decisions.

Xbox was right at the cusp of a successful turnaround right up until Nadella's crew decided they needed profits NOW, and look where it got them. Lots of progress thrown away for a quick buck, and when it was clear gamers saw right through it and were going to abandon the platform a panicked snap right back to the original direction it was headed.

Asha "eases" the pressure in Satyas nutsack and pressure on xbox division also reduces. Win win win.....

Please tell me we're not circling back around to the whole "M$, war chest, big bank Microsoft" arguments. MS isn't as rich as they are because they are willing to consistently absorb losses from their many departments.

I know it maybe shouldn't bother me, but it's not "pouring over" it's "poring over."

These people are absolute ignoramuses. It's clearly a homophone, what in the hell could "pouring over" possibly mean when you're talking about examining something? Just more fuel for the "Jez is a clown" fire.

Wonder if the plan is to then hand it off to Booty.

What's this thread about? Then you may be able to comprehend my original post.

I understand the title sir.

Also, not trying to be an ass, but your post was response to this:

Explain the point you're trying to make because it totally seems like you are saying MS has so much money, that nothing that the Cyborg said matters.............which kinda drives my point.

Xbox tm will ease...... easily out perform the competition to remain the best place to play all your favorite games!

FYI: I'll take a Size 2xl tall .. oh and a controller signed by Asha would be nice.
