Is anybody else struggling to get pumped for anything that isn’t PSVR 2 related at the moment?

I get it. The banger for me is GT7. But there is more than enough to keep me entertained until Astro Bot 2 is released, which I have no doubt will be stellar. I suspect it may already be in production and could be ready for the holidays.
Astro Bot was an amazing game. I loved everything about it and it was the main reason for me to buy PSVR1. Hope you are right and they are working on it.

PSVR2's upcoming launch definitely has me just playing the games I have now and putting off games like Dead Space.
It's not a money thing for me but a time thing. Just knowing I'm going to have a handful of PSVR2 upgraded games day 1 has me just focused on what I already own.

I am excited as ever for Dragon's Dogma 2 and the upcoming Elden Ring expansion.

That being said, I can understand why PSVR2 is overwhelmingly exciting to some - VR in general is just amazing, and Gran Turismo 7 VR is going to be the real deal.

I am, I had the first and the only game that got me to realize the potential was Blood & Truth and RE.

I am really excited mainly due to better hardware and hopefully kickass graphics.

Yeah, I agree OP! There are basically no games that excite me, that I'm looking forward to. The PS5 had an amazing start but has been a huge disappointment for me since then with cross-gen games and mediocre sequels. The only next-gen games so far have been Demon's Souls and Ratchet, pretty much. Last of Us Part 1 was great and very impressive, but nothing new.

So PSVR2 really has me excited though, I'm really, really looking forward to it! I love the PSVR but it's quite dated now so the PSVR2 should be a fantastic experience for me. Cool.

Nope. I have no hype for PSVR2. Too expensive for me right now, especially when it is not backwards compatible with PSVR.

I have both the PSVR and Quest, but I have not played either in about a year. Nothing really appeals to me right now to jump in again.

No, I have my daily go-to's (Hades, etc.. ) and I'm currently playing Outer Wilds.

Keeping PSVR2 hype in check!

PSVR2 is going to be awesome and I'm super excited for it, but I'm still excited for other games.
Don’t get me wrong - I’m really looking forward to playing Zelda, Starfield (hopefully) and FF16 around summer/Autumn time. But, would I swap any of them for PSVR2? Probably not. When you’ve been gaming as long as I have (around 39 years!), things like PSVR2 are a godsend.

Yes, I’m sure the entire 2% of ps5 owners who will actually buy a psvr2 are are supper pumped and the rest of us poor heathens have nothing at all to be excited about. /s

I’m pumped for Undisputed early access on the 31st. I’m pumped for MLB the Show 23 ina few weeks, I’m pumped for Spiderman 2 and hopefully Starfield in 2023. I’m hyped for a lot of games that are not on psvr22.
OPs post doesn't reference to non-VR gamers, so what are you on about..?

Has Sony released any news that hasn't been psvr related this year yet?

Hard to be hyped about what you don't know.

Also waiting for psvr2
Had one for one month and meh
Had pc meta and meh

Wait , I don’t even know why I bought PSVR2 😂 (eye tracking and hope to use finger tracking on porn )

Besides that I’m waiting for god of war 3 :cry, ghost of Tsushima 2 and anything from naughty dog .

Not at all OP. I'm more interested in the games that will be dropping in the next months.

As someone who jumped on the hype wagon when PSVR came, after the honeymoon phase, the usage of the device went down the pipe.

I'll wait to see what the general consensus about it is, see what type of games get launched on it and then maybe, more down the road and during a promo, I may binge it.

No way I'm paying 600$ for the device, sorry.
Fair enough that. I was similar with the original PSVR and sold it after around 18 months of having it. Maybe I’m a glutton for punishment, but I just have more positive vibes for this one. Just the fact that GT7 is the full game, unlike PSVR with GT Sport, is enough to convince me that the tech is there to be used with more games in a better capacity.

And what’s the worse that can happen? I get bored again and sell it, recouping some of my dough.

Quite the opposite, I find it hard to get excited for PSVR2 after the giant let-down that PSVR was, and the fact that I now think maybe VR isn't for me at all.

I'll probably get the headset and it'll probably gather dust in my office next to the old one.

Season 4 No GIF by The Office

Final Fantasy XVI/VII Remake Part 2, Death Stranding 2, Resident Evil 4 Remake, Jedi Survivor, Street Fighter 6, Silent Hill 2 Remake + other titles, Spider-man 2, Wolverine, Diablo 4, Baldur’s Gate 3, Judas, Alan Wake 2, Armored Core 6, Hades 2, etc.

Like, fuck, if anything, the hype train for this year and beyond is moving at a speed rarely achieved for me.

I may have been misunderstood. I’m really just talking about the lead up to the PSVR 2 release. No doubt I’ll still be buying a lot of those games from your list.

Just pick something bite sized you'll enjoy. I have a lot of back log I'm not hyped about.. Just find something small that get a lot of praise, get comfortable and have a jolly good time. The time'll just fly by..!

Well, I could definitely say "yes". Apart from the unveiling of new Sony excusives (which anyway I'm waiting to see if they will be "hybrid" flat/VR games), pretty much I only wait for PSVR 2.

Yeah, Chained Echoes has been my go-to. Maybe I’ve missed something, but having progressed so far I‘m really struggling beating some enemies in the new area.

Personally I am struggling to get pumped for PSVR2. I had the first one and while I like the resolution of there new one and some of its features I just can't bring myself to shell out any cash for it. I think I would only just be about interested for £150 at this point. I think I have VR fatigue.

Lol no….I’m looking at list of games for PSVR 2 and there is nothing for me there, I’m not gonna waste $749 on something that just gonna sit there and collect dust, especially the fact this year we so many quality games coming out.

I'm with you OP, cannot wait! Not tried VR since the gear VR that came with a phone I got like 7 years ago so I'm expecting to be blown away

I can't think of a bigger splash in all of console gaming than the full game of Gran Turismo in VR. That is just a mind blowing launch title. Essentially a disney theme park ride in your home but with deep, engaging gameplay and online modes.

RE8 in VR isn't far from the mark either. I've played it on PCVR and it's so far removed from the standard experience it's difficult to day it's the same game. I hear the psvr2 version is superior to the PC mod in every level according to Digital Foundry, so we're for a treat.

For new VR people, this is definitely an experience were console gamers get to experience a really high end gaming for a decent price. Not the "same old" hat of playing God of War 14 or Zelda 25 on a flat screen with slightly better visuals.

It's actually cheaper than the original considering you had to buy a camera and controllers on the side.

Quest is the biggest piece of crap headset on the market because it's owned by Facebook.

I've actually been really impressed by Quest 2 as a Rift S and PSVR1 owner.

I can’t say that I am short on great games to play currently, or that there aren’t any great games due to release. However, whilst happily plugging my way through Chained Echoes, it’s always there, in the back of my mind…. ‘GT7 VR… Kayak VR… Horizon VR…’

Dead Space looks amazing, but I‘m not hyped; Hogwarts looks amazing, but I’m not hyped.

Is anybody else suffering with pre-PSVR2 excitement as much as me?

Even when I’m playing GT7, which is still pretty regularly, I’m always imagining what it will be like in VR.

It feels like a curse that only Feb 22nd can break.
Nah, there are still many 2021 and 2022 that I still have to play, and I'm hyped with many non-VR 2023 games like Street Fighter 6, RE4R, Spider-Man 2, Pragmata or Dragon's Dogma 2 to name a few of them.

I skipped PSVR1 with the idea of getting some day PSVR2. And I'll do it but not at launch. I think PSVR2 will have a great launch window lineup (pretty likely the best one any VR headset ever had) but I'll wait for a bigger catalog, particularly if we get certain other PSVR1 games patched (Astrobot, Wipeout Omega Collection, Dreams, RE VII) plus some big new 1st party or Capcom one and/or a price drop that I don't expect to see until at least 2 or 3 years from now.

I'm definitely not in that boat. I think VR is really neat and cool. Some folks are REALLY into it, and some aren't at all. I personally thought VR was really cool after playing with it for awhile. Then the wow factor of it all just kind of wore off. I still think there's a lot that can be done with VR, and it's still neat. But I think we have a long way to go in that realm before I'm extremely excited about it.

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.
Don't really care much for it at the moment.
A lot of things I don't care much for actually, it's pretty sad state of affairs when you only get excited by Remakes and you biggest worry is them adjusting it modern audiences.

VR is weird. It's magic the first time, but after using it a while, it loses its luster. Kind of like drugs.

Can't help but be very "aware" there's a big old headset mounted on my head and that I'm looking at a screen--not a window into a world anymore. Based on my experience using a Oculus Rift 1, PSVR, and Quest 2 wirelessly on PC.

VR needs to further diminish form factor and increase FOV, but I think it'll never get to the level of immersion that direct neural manipulation tech will be able to reach. And that tech is probably not as far out as people might think

I'm excited for what VR might be in another ten years. Right now a $600 peripheral requiring a $500 console is too much of a cock block for most consumers. Why does that matter? Because the more consumers, the larger the demographic, the more interest developers will take in creating VR games. The first step to wide acceptance of VR is to create a more affordable, entirely self contained VR gaming device. Google kind of attempted this with Google Cardboard, but the implementation was too crude to catch traction. We need a company to create an entirely self-contained VR headset w/ wireless haptic gloves, that doesn't rely on an external processing device, with strong third party support. Until that happens VR will continue to be an expensive novelty at best.

Don't live your life in a constant state of hype.....sounds exhausting, and full of disappointment.
I live in a constant state of hype and I am constantly happy...Maybe don't have astronomical expectations when getting hyped and you wont get dissapointed or be miserable about any new released just so you wont get hyped.... That's what sounds exhausting.

As for PSVR2 i could'nt give less of a shit about it.My friend has an occulus quest 2 or sth.Played Half Life Alyx and Beat Saber for a bit and while it's a cool experience I can never see myself switching my traditional gaming setup to that. It's like...ok that's cool now back to the real thing.

I’d only consider myself “pumped” for things that aren’t PSVR2. And I say that as someone who has a PSVR2 on preorder.

PSVR2 seems like a thing that I will eventually buy (assuming it ever gets cheaper), use 4 or 5 times and then stick in a cabinet and find it 2 years later while decluttering

This is exactly what I feared all this time: PSVR1 sullying the experience for gamers so badly that they wouldn't want to touch VR again.

I had my expectations in check when I got mine and while I still wasn't blown away by it, I saw the potential. Now I got a Quest 2 with a good gaming PC and it felt like a generational leap to me.

I'll have to save enough for a PSVR2 and a PS5 while I see how the game situation develops. I need to see more of those hybrid games. Hoping for most of Sony's existing/upcoming games get the hybrid treatment.

I just think it needs to BE an alternative hub world. So as to not get the sensation that your pulling the drapes between you and the real world.

It needs a social hub and social hangouts.

And it needs a sleek and intuitive user interface.

They'll come around.. But you're right. I knew pretty fast when I got the psvr that I would recommend people to hold off until the next generation of psvr.
