Are the older games worth playing or they too outdated by now?

They're all worth playing but the combat of each game is better than its predecessor. I prefer the story and level design in GOWII though. The first one will feel a bit basic compared to the sequels.

1 and 2 are easily emulated and play great. III works decently but requires a beefy CPU and still has some issues.

Gameplay is the same style as GOW3, but naturally graphics are ps2 level.

The first trilogy aged very well, and are some of my favorite games. Took me a while to find my way through the desert in part 1, but I was also a little too young to play these games.
English was a little too hard for me at the time.

The first PSP game in the franchise was also great. I don't remember myself playing the second one.

I hand heartedly agree. I see it's influence especially in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Survivor. Fun fact: the director of those games, Stig Asmussen, directed God Of War 3.
That being said God Of War 3 is one my fav games of all time and I go back to it from time to time.

Did you play on a PS3?? I’m only asking because I own the game and I own a launch (soft body)PS3 but I’m afraid to turn her on. She turns 17 this year

1 is dated. GOW2 is one of the best action games of all time.

PSP games are good, not amazing. Might feel dated, but i really enjoyed the story in both. The new weapons in each game made them both stand out from the console versions.

Obviously, this post contains spoilers. I finally got around to finishing GOW 3. Awesome game, and it is freaking gorgeous! I got all the way to the final boss, Zeus. I got to this section where you walk up to him and start beating the living hell out of him, and you are prompted to repeatedly...

GOW3 is my favorite in the franchise.

I may be one of the few who really enjoyed GOW: Ascension though. Unfortunately, it had to follow GOW3 and that game just casts way too big a shadow.

Edit: The formula had also kind of worn out its welcome by then.

They definitely milked the original games. Six of them altogether if you count the PSP titles put out over a span of 8 years. As much as I shrug at the newer games it's easy to see why they changed everything. I just am not a fan of the direction they went.

GOW II definitely worth to play, first is not that "epic" and have some questionable and frustrating moments.

I platinumed GOW3, 2018 and Ragnarok.
And thought Ragnarok was the best.

Classic GOW was cool and all, but we were 6 games in by the time the 2018 reimagining happened. It was old and tired at that point.
GOW3's set pieces were good, but overall combat ranges from ok to downright frustrating due to the imprecise nature of the combat.
