The Story of the Sony PlayStation Net Yaroze - The Consumer grade Development Kit that was sold in 1997 and how it brought Indie development to video games for an affordable price.
As a kid, I thought the Net Yarooze was the coolest thing. I was definitely geeking out when I saw it in Next Generation Magazine. I learned basic and never progressed in my learning of code (I was a kid). While It would be fun to play around with one of these kits, I think I would be better served in Dreams.
I wanted one of these so badly as a kid. Not really for the game dev shit (although, that was cool, too) -- it was mostly because this system looks so damn good in black.
Thought the colors of dev. consoles and the Net Yaroze were cooler than the standard retail ones.
I fondly remember the demo disc that came with the Official UK PlayStation Magazine issue with Metal Gear Solid on the cover, which was covered in-depth here:

It had a very rudimentary IDE and some documentation if I remember correctly.
YABASIC and few demos were included on a disc that came with the console.
Had done some basic before so I managed to play with it a bit.
