Games Stolen From You

This thread sucks.

My recommendation for everyone is to make an Excel spreadsheet with the game info and the current store value and ebay value if it's not available in store. My gaming collection has become quite sizable so I did this to protect myself from a move. I also usually pack my favorites myself and hand carry them.

Why not get them insured at this point?

Some friends of mine eternally borrowed a few of my games like GTA San Andreas, MGS 2 , Assassin's Creed II. When I asked them to return them, they claimed that they had lost them, but at least one of them was decent enough to pay me back the value of the game he "borrowed"

When I was moving to a new home, two years ago. There were two illegal immigrants working for the moving company that was in charge of transferring all my stuff. These two fellas turned out to be thieves and stole a lot of valuable stuff from me including 1/3 of my PSX/PS2/PS3 collection. I never got the games back but at least I got a refund

my brother was a troubled one growing up, and he'd always "borrow" shit while I was at school. one summer, I sold all of my super nintendo and nintendo stuff to buy a psone and a bunch of games. I had a 64 up until then, so I bought a lot of the games I had missed out on. my friend and I came home from summer school a week or two after I bought it, hyped to play some games, and everything was gone but the cases. final fantasies, megamans, castlevanias, bunch of good games; all gone. he didn't come home that night, but assured me he had it at his friend's house. I never saw that stuff again and found a pawn receipt for 150 bucks in his socks drawer. the same thing happened when i got my ps2 and dmc, but my mother made him repurchase it for me with his papa john's money.

recently, my friend had a "party" and I left a box of my snes and games there and all of the marios got picked out by somebody there after I left. :(

Man you got robbed twice!
hahaha. :(

Daikatana!... on the GBC! Stolen from me when i was little, a "friend" kept peskering me to borrow it to him. Eventually did, never saw it again. It was a pretty okay game as well, sort of like Zelda like, but not quite.

Another one was Spyro YotD. Which i apparently traded, but i dont remember that at all. I did already beat the entire game(Saw the 100% ending after pretty much marathoning it for 2 days.) So it was not a big loss. Still annoying though.

Someone I knew stole my copy of Pokemon Gold and my Gameboy Advance.

Never got the GBA back, but I got the game eventually, all of the pokemon were given nicknames that were insults to me. I got the game back when he had the smart idea to knock on my front door with it in hand.

Secret of Mana. I lent it to a friend and someone stole it from him. He had to decency to give me a copy of FF6 as a replacement.

I remember losing my Metroid Fusion cartridge to a teacher in 3rd grade, afterwards I totally forgot about it after getting Metroid Prime. Till this day never got it back

That sounds so weird... I lost my Wario Land 3 and Super Mario Bros. Deluxe (I think?) to my teacher in 3rd grade. Asked for them back later and she doesn't know what I was talking about. 3rd grade was one of the worst years I've had.

Castlevania symphony of the night on PSone..some one, clearly a gamer with refined tastes broke into my apartment..only stole that, and 20 dollars off my shelf..hurt my heart mang.

Pretty easy to figure out it was a friend from you. He knew what he wanted. A theft would have taken your tv , system and everything valuable.

GBA-
.Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga
.LEGO Bionicle
.Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories (returned)
.Pokemon Emerald

Xbox 360-
.GTA IV
.Call of Duty MW3
.Halo CE: Anniversary

What bugs me about Halo and MW3 being missing is that it leaves a gap in my collection of both series. I was so close to beating GTA IV too.

I've never had a game deliberately stolen (although I've certainly had my fair share of other stuff stolen from me; fuck dishonest taxi drivers, among others) but have definitely lost some through circumstance.

I lent my Super Mario 64 to a friend of a friend when we were all going to be in a band together, but the band fizzled out and we basically lost contact with each other. I was kind of dubious of lending the game, but I didn't want to rock the boat.

I similarly lost my copy of the original Ocarina of Time when I lent it to a high school friend who was also friends with my girlfriend at the time. We had the typical messy teenage breakup and in the shakeout, my ex 'inherited' our mutual friend. She actually remembered she still had it an offered it back to me a few years ago when we got in contact again via Facebook, but given we now live halfway across the world from each other, I figured it was ok to let her keep it.

(Related to moving halfway across the world, a friend of mine also still has my Sam and Max Hit the Road/Day of the Tentacle dual disc, and I have his Fable II Collector's Edition, which was basically brand new at the time. Hoping on my next visit back to see my parents I can get it back.)

The one that hurts the most, though, is losing my mint CIB Link's Awakening, when I lent it to a family friend and we lost contact. In return, I borrowed a cart-only copy of the Addams Family, which I still have. Not a fair trade...

I've only had one video game stolen from me.

Conker's Bad Fur Day for the N64. Two of my nephew's "friends" had stopped by the house and later that night I realized the game was missing. Never got the game back. I didn't know who they were and my nephew said he tried to get the game back but they kept denying they took it. He stopped hanging out with them.

Even when my brother sold off our SNES and all its games for drugs, he didn't sell the games that were mine. So that was nice of him.

A friend was interested by Star Wing (EU name of Star Fox on SNES). So, I lend him my copy of the game.

Months later, when I asked it back, I discovered he sold it.

That's pretty much my only bad experience.

Oh, and he also absolutly wrecked my game guide of Secret of Mana.

My "friend" asked if he could borrow my Dreamcast while I borrow a few of his PC games. Went along with it, next day he moved like a bitch. Never saw him again.

Once I got burned pretty bad, will always remember the time, it pissed me off so much...

I begrudgingly lent my Warcraft 2 for PSOne to a kid because he was so pushy. He gave me the mass produced game frogger in return, only game of his I had a passing intrest in. Not even a week later he moves out of town. FU......

I was so choked, as a sort of lesson to myself I forced myself to 100% that frogger game. Ended up actually quite liking it but that was years later.

Haven't replaced my Warcraft 2 yet as it's kind of pricey. This also reminds me I should get Diablo 1 on psx too

Not necessarily "stolen," but:

When a girl that I was dating broke up with me, she just happened to be borrowing my GBC and some games.
Never saw those again.

When another girl that I was dating broke up with me, she just happened to be borrowing some of my SNES games.
Never saw those again either.

As far as actually stolen, in 2002 our house was robbed, and my Dreamcast and games and Gamecube and games were stolen.
Apparently thieves don't care about older games (since they're not as easy to sell for a decent price), so they left those alone.

Fortunately, homeowner's insurance covered the cost of replacing those.

-Start seeing girl.

-Lend girl limited edition Crisis Core PSP import, along with game:

crisis-core-final-fantasy-vii-psp.jpg

-Girl decides she doesn't want to see me.

-Girl starts dating the biggest jerk I've ever met.

-Girl lends PSP to said jerk, jerk hacks it to Hell and back.

-Girl breaks up with jerk

-Jerk refuses to admit he has my PSP at all.

-Never saw it again.

Lent my friend my Mega Man 2 and Blades of Steel. Never saw either of them ever again and needless to say we stopped being friends shortly after.

Oh shit, I forgot to mention a horrible instance of theft.

In 9th grade, a friend (a different and much better friend than the guy I mentioned before) returned my copy of EarthBound to me when we had class together. My next class was gym, where we had to keep our backpacks on the locker room floor while we had class (the lockers were the mini-kind). Of course, at the end of class I see my bag was opened and the game had been stolen. Fucking assholes.

Well I once had a friend that borrowed Final Fantasy X, then gave it away so I'm going to count that.

When I was a kid, I went to visit my father one weekend to find out he had sold my NES, SNES, and all the games I had. I went back to my mother's house to I found out she gave away my Atari and all the games I had for it.Seeing as they belonged to me, I am counting those incidents as well.

You'd think people would have the decency to keep secure the property of someone signing up for goddam war - let alone the property of a friend or relative... nope. People can't give a single fuck.

I second that. He should have pulled out his military issued side arm and went all Apocolypse Now on their door step. Probably would have gotten the games back.

This thread is such a pro for digital download titles....

I predict that in twenty years this thread's future analogue will be about how Game Service X delisted Game Y right out of your library.

"Timmy took my Pokemon Yellow" will seem kind of quaint compared.

I had a friend who'd borrow games from me, then lend them to other friends. Lost Lunar 1&2 and Suikoden to this guy. I had another friend, who's friend borrowed Link's Awakening and some other game from me. He ignored me whenever I demanded he return Link's Awakening but he returned whatever the other game was.

Had a break in. Lost most my Saturn collection Dragon Force, Shining wisdom, shining force 3,sonic jam,r plus a dozen or so others. They only got the box for my Albert's Oddessy since the game was in the system.

A friend in my sophomore year of high school asked if he could borrow my Age of Empires: Age of Kings game for the DS over the weekend. I said sure. He put the game in immediately and started playing it. The following Monday, he handed me the game back. I didn't notice anything wrong until later that day when I put the game in and nothing would load but a black screen with the music playing.

I asked him about it the next day and he said "Oh, you gave me a broken game. It did that when I put it in." I was like "Wait, but I saw you play it right after I gave it to you...." He just said "Oh yeah, I meant it stopped working when I got home after that. It must have been in the process of dying."

It never worked again after that. I will never know what he could have possibly done to it to break it.

Oblivion: I let a manager at work borrow my copy, he had it for 6 months then told me he got robbed. Turned out he pawned it for drug money.

When we were kids, my brother stole DKC3 from me and sold it to one of our neighbors for $10 so he could buy a shit load of stuff from the ice cream truck.

Never forget.

These GBC games:

- Pokemon Crystal (i had all pokemon, but celebi)
- Megaman Xtreme 2
- The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons
- Pokemon Yellow (Complete Pokedex and a SURFING RAICHU)
- Mario Tennis

I think that a friend of my little brother did it, when we where kids. thanks to this trash i didn't buy handhelds until the 3DS

This thread reminds me of an incident where a borrowed game was nearly lost to me. I had a falling out with someone who had borrowed a SNES game from me, we never spoke again. Fortunately, there was a mutual friend who I was able to send as a spy to retrieve the cart - Zelda III, purchased the day it released, and which I still have.

A happy ending for that game. :D

Lunar 2: Eternal Blue Dis 2.

I still have the case Disc 1 and 3, and the Bonus Disc. Im scared to look at how much its going for on Amazon

This thread just reminded me that I need to pickup my PS3 and Kingdom Hearts 1.5 Remix
from my buddy. I loaned him those along with the Jak and Daxter collection and my PSN
Plus Account lol
