No, that's not true either. He recommends heroic for everyone who has played Halo or experienced with shooters/console shooters. He doesn't recommend legendary on a first playthrough.

Normal is for a guided tour so everyone can finish the game, and I'd imagine easy is for disabled people.

Well acutally you are correct, i was just being an ass. That is the reason i just restarted the campaign on Heroic. I cannot be more specific without getting banned, but it does stick to the seen it done it formula...it is neverthehless very enjoyable and highly rewarding. On the higher difficulty levels of course.

not buying into that rationale. first time i play the game, it will be on normal. if the game isn't enjoyable on normal, bungie didn't do their job right. obviously, higher difficulty settings will accentuate different elements of the gameplay and heighten the experience, but normal should be a good enough start. of course, that's for the person like myself who wants to experience the narrative more than anything else. everything else can wait for a second run.

besides, i thought the bungie guys always pointed experienced gamers towards heroic on a first run, not legendary.

IF I remember correctly, it's people that played and beat Halo 2 should play Legendary. I fall under that category, so I'm playing legendary.

To Halo fans I have no doubts that there is not one thing that they could find disappointing about it, and they will love it for it is a great game.

Halo 3 will make mad bank, it will make millions lose sleep on a daily basis, and will sell much side merchandise...but I will also confess that it does not exactly revolutionize the genre.
Mad props to Bungie though for the interactivity and the marketing.

On their last podcast Bungie said that they build the whole game on legendary and then remove/adapt elements to make the other difficulties.

They say that they use that method because it's obviously easier to remove stuff from gameplay (number of opponents, etc) than adding more later on.

I'm still to beat HALO CE or HALO 2 on legendary. I can go till certain parts and that's it.

And I'm a very happy gamer besides the fact that HALO on Legendary is too much for my 29 years of gaming experience.

BTW, today is my 35th b-day and just got home and I'm hammered! :D

I played the hell out of Halo:CE and Halo 2. I played through Halo 3 co-op on Heroic. That was the perfect difficulty setting for me.

eh, i think you've got it mixed up.

at any rate, i've played through halo 1 quite a few times, on heroic twice, but never completed more than the pillar of autumn on legendary. i've played through halo 2 numerous times, but i'm not sure if i ever got off cairo on heroic. just not something i care to do. lengendary on halo 3 isn't happening first thing, let me assure you.
 
Dude, the best thing you can do at this point is to in one way or the other prove that you've played it. Maybe it's messed up that it has to be that way, but that is the way things are. Until then, you're going to be accused of lying about it.

Halo 2 HD? I think it looks much better. The amount of details, for example, is considerably different between the two. Halo 2 HD would just be a sharper Halo 2 - it wouldn't be a 'more detailed' Halo 2. As such, I call BS on the Halo 2 HD claims.

Really? I'm surprised you're expecting reviews like that.

1UP is a lock, but I can see IGN going anywhere from 9.4-9.9. And who the fuck knows what Gamespot is even thinking these days. I wouldn't be surprised if it was an 8.5 and I wouldn't be surprised if they 10'd it. My bet would be a 9, though.

I guess I'm saying that I agree with you, but I don't know. I have a feeling it's going to dip below 95 on GameRankings and this thread is going to turn into a cess pool.

I don't know, on the hotspot he's not a halo fan either. Pretty cold about it. I don't like much of his taste though
I'm interested in Jeremy Parish's opinion after those retronaut blog posts on the history of Halo.
 
Hmmm so weird that people don't rate Halo 2 at all... I like it better than the first and it's going to be very hard for Halo 3 to top it.
