Fantastic Four production altered to counter The Incredibles

Two sources have now independently told us that the entire third act of FANTASTIC FOUR has undergone extensive changes as a result of Disney and Pixar's CGI family film THE INCREDIBLES.
one of the ways to reduce the FANTASTIC FOUR expenses was to limit the time that Mister Fantastic would use his stretching abilities on the screen. However, once THE INCREDIBLES blasted on the scene, and audiences got a taste of what kind of things a human Mom could do with her super-stretching powers, the makers of FANTASTIC FOUR soon realized that they would have to push the envelope further.
20th Century Fox stepped up to the plate and coughed up more dough. How much more is a matter of conjecture...but we've heard a check as big as $20 M may have been written by Fox just so FANTASTIC FOUR's Mister Fantastic could have more screen time to stretch across.
It also turns out, in this post-INCREDIBLES landscape, that the third act of FANTASTIC FOUR had to undergo a major rewrite. We've heard stories of the writers and producers working overtime all through November and December as they thought about ways to ratchet up the film's final battles and the resolution. This has supposedly made for some frought moments as the script changed, almost daily -- and word has it, the changes made were to distance the FANTASTIC FOUR ending from that of THE INCREDIBLES.

Can't say last minute changes or even changes made entirely in post production give me much faith. As if this movie wasn't troubled enough...

two words:

"Jessica Alba"

okay maybe a few more words:

"she is hot"

oh and what the hell, here's a picture too

I'll watch the movie just to see her in that tight outfit. Hope they don't overuse her invisible ability.

so... the fantastic four movie ends with a scene involving a fantastic baby?

or did they also have a large rotund robot laying waste to a major metropolitan area and the military? (like that's very original to begin with)

This is what sucks. It's like how there's a superman movie coming out but some of supermans little trademarks have been knicked by young upstarts like Neo in the Matrix sequels, and how Tobey runs directly into the camera and rips his shirt open to reveal his costume Ala Clark Kent. The Incredibles rocked, but it kind of sucks that some nobdoy character borrowed MR. Fantastic's power and now he has to play a game of catch up witha budget that isn't as forgiving and a creative team that probably isn't as talented..

That's true, but some change in a case like this is usually better than none. If the movie was strong enough to stand on its own and require no changes, that's the ideal scenario, of course. Knowing the movie's weaknesses and at least making an EFFORT to fix them before release (versus going into the vault and release date limbo) is somewhat heartening.

The incredibles was such a fuckin' rip off of the Fantastic Four, it's not even funny. It was still a pretty fun movie to watch, but the stuff they ripped off and got away with was just sad.

Actually, most licenses were bought a long long time ago.
Yeah, you're right. Most of the studios are just holding on to them, though. FF has gone through a lot of production. I just hope they keep holding the properties and not make the movies. :p

People have been saying this since Spawn. :lol
:lol The biggest buyouts were after X-Men, though. Anything comic related was purchased.

im sure they'll give the blank panther a call or two hehe. With batman begins being so true to the character i dunno if this movie has a prayer up against it, they made some bad changes imo. They totally ruined doom, and got rid of what amounts to 50% of his character, his beloved home of Latveria. That was an intriguing part of the character, he was this obsessed , genius, hardened man , and yet he loved his people like a caring father. Now ..its very different from the script i read. Atleast they got the relationship between ben and johnny right. On a side note...WTH did they do to Assault on Precinct 13 the remake looks like ass. And why isnt the leading man black anymore? they made Lawrence Fishburne the criminal! nooooo!
