This week Bowser's Fury should retain it's #1 spot without much problems, most likely a drop of around 60-70%

The following week is interesting as it should be a record breaking week for Marvelous:

Marvelous Launches
  1. [PSV] Kan Colle Kai (2016) - 137.201
  2. [3DS] Harvest Moon: Linking the New World (2014) - 116.922
  3. [3DS] Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns (2016) - 110.597
  4. [PSV] Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus (2013) - 91.639
  5. [3DS] Rune Factory 4 (2012) - 88.700
Launch should be over 150K and probably over 200K with digital. In terms of long-term potential it's surely a game poised to sell a million if WoM is good and all signs are pointing towards that happening in Japan. I'm also really interested in how it does overseas as for Marvelous a game selling over 3 million WW would be an amazing result.
This will be their break out year with Sakuna continuing to sell; Olive Town really exploding in popularity and Rune Factory 5 coming in May, followed by NMH3... their 2021 growth will be amazing to see.
By the end of the year the Top 3 physical games will be Olive Town, Rune Factory 5 & Sakuna,
Sakuna
is probably already the top game since it had over 150K digital sales in 2020 on the Switch, while digital was a non-factor on DS/3DS.

Top 5 Marvelous Titles
  1. [DS] Harvest Moon: Island of Happiness (2007) - 304.660
  2. [3DS] Harvest Moon: A New Beginning (2012) - 264.042
  3. [3DS] Harvest Moon: Linking the New World (2014) - 259.111
  4. [DS] Harvest Moon: Twin Villages (2010) - 212.870
  5. [NSW/PS4] Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin (2020) - 210.512

[NSW] Luigi’s Mansion 3: 9,13m
[3DS] Luigi’s Mansion 2: 6,33m
[NGC] Luigi’s Mansion: 3,33m

[WII] Wii Sports: 82,9m
[WII] Wii Sports Resort: 33,14m
[WII] Wii Fit: 22,67m
[WII] Wii Fit Plus: 21,13m
[NSW] Ring Fit Adventure: 8,68m

I'm still amazed by the sales of Luigi's Mansion 3, which was a real hit on Switch.

On the other hand, sales of Ring Fit are almost disappointing as the general public was targeted.

I hope we see more small publishers breaking out. It was cool when Level 5 was having lots of success with new franchises.

There are some great success stories so far, although most of them are not really being fully publicized since they are digital only but Human Fall Flat gives us an idea about the upper limit for western indie titles in Japan. The game is very likely to surpass 1 million with digital on the Switch, physically it's the first western indie game I'm aware of to surpass 100K sales.

Human: Fall Flat (Teyon Japan) - 115.405

This is one of the reasons keeping track of how Nintendo pushes western indies in directs is a key takeaway.
Although Hades launched across all other markets, seems Japanese translation is lagging behind - since it seems Nintendo is publishing it physically elsewhere I anticipate they might be helping with the Japanese localization and might also spend a decent amount marketing it in Japan. In Korea for example the game was Top 5 on the eShop for a around two months, so I think it could also be a game that could surpass 100K if Nintendo is marketing it in Japan.
The case will be the same with potentially one of the most anticipated games for me personally in 2021, Silksong is seemingly going to be a big exclusive for Nintendo and Japanese localization is already confirmed in its eShop page. Hollow Knight did pretty well on the eShop but physical edition readily available in Japan would really help the franchise explode there.
If we get an Overcooked 3 at some point I think there would be plenty of publishers including Nintendo interested in publishing it in Japan.
We've seen recently how well AmongUs has done there on the eShop. Indies are a key part of Nintendo's strategy World Wide but the biggest growth they probably envision is in Japan, they've been slowly building an audiences for some franchises in their ecosystem, and that's the type of collaboration is the one I think would benefit both indies and Nintendo the most.

While the other obvious example is Imagineer, who didn't have a game chart between 2004 and 2018 and suddenly have a fairly popular title that surpassed 1 million World Wide and the sequel is set to build upon the debut's success,

Fitness Boxing - 141.889
Fitness Boxing 2 - 67.961

Obviously not quite at the level of their biggest games back in the GB and Super Famicon era, but with digital probably very close. Looking at its current sales and trends from the debut its pretty likely that Fitness Boxing 2 surpasses 200K by the end of the year, if not more. It's already closing in to what the debut did in it's best selling year:

Fitness Boxing Annual sales:
2018 - 3.779
2019 - 62.414 (+1551.6%)
2020 - 75.696 (+21%)

Imagineer Top 5

  1. [GB] Medabots 2 (1999) - 485.259
  2. [SFC] Populous (1990) - 400.000
  3. [SFC] Sim City 2000 (1995) - 252.627
  4. [GB] Medabots 3 (2000) - 235.616
  5. [GB] Medabots (1997) - 226.191

That's a very good point, I was forgetting about the digital successes. That's good new seeing these successful new IP and I hope there are more!

Not really, that type of software is supposed to have a soft launch with monster legs, or at least thats what Nintendo expects from it. I can see it outselling Wii Fit in the end.
