Fable | Xbox Showcase 2026

Press getting a demo and wednesday we'll have more gameplay

This is very welcome after the rather disappointing trailer. I mean....the characters.....fine I guess? But I think we all were hoping for a good look at gameplay.

I get the feeling it won't have basically any of the systems from Fable and just be an action game in a medieval setting. Like the horns/halo. Changing how NPCs react to you. Etc.

They've already said it doesn't have horns/halos but it does have an individual locale based reputation system. Every region will track your reputation separately, you won't be villainous everywhere just because you're in one.

LOL. Said it before on GAF many times.

I love how game makers are all about DEI and it's bad to stereotype characters and people etc...

Yet almost every time there's a Black person in a game you'll have them with shaved heads or giant poofy afro hair. Talk about discriminatory bigots.

You forgot Option #3.

I'm calling it now, Isabel is gonna turn into Jack of Blades by the end of the game lol

That's the implication. Or maybe even halfway through the game. Her having her own 'hero's journey' is also a hint that she's probably Jack of Blades.

Jack of Blades could have won in the end depending on the player's choices in Fable 1.

That whole 'dual chosen ones' thing is what made it so cool.

I dont think Xbox gamers care that much about exclusives unlike Sony gamers.

Even oldies like Fable 1, Gears and Halo came to PC.
Xbox communicates with their fans in a way that makes it sound like they are their friends. For fans, this creates an attachment to the Xbox brand that is unlike anything else in gaming. Look at the amount of Xbox influencers compared to Playstation? Even tho Playstation has sold 3x as many consoles

Playstation doesn't do shit with fans. It is purely transactional. People like Playstation for their studios and games, less so the actual platform

I can't be the only one noticing how several parts of this trailer (but also in previous showing earlier this year) the contrast isn't correct, or more like brightness is cranked up too high.

For example at 1:16 when you see the werewolf (Balverine, right?) it's too bright. Look at the foliage next to the Balverine and the shadow under it, it's grey instead of black. Same story with the tree there.

I notice it at 1:57 too. Might be a minor thing for some, but I hope they fix this.

This looks really great and I can't wait, and Xbox is finally getting exclusive back, and everything is right with the world.

Xbox audience has been great, Asha great, games great, looking great. X-Boxers, I count myself among you. My only qualm is you have to stop hating on games over the parity clause delay. Other than that, you're back on track to be traditional gamers. Now we just gotta get rid of Xbox game pass.

It's obvious here who's played Fable before during release and who's new to the idea of Fable.

That was not Fable.
It's their vision for Fable, it was bound to be quite different since it's not Lionhead. Let's wait and see next Wednesday how it all looks. We're going to get a good proper look at it.

I can't really explain why, but this trailer gave me Dragon Age: Veilguard vibes.
Same.

I was actually very cautiously optimistic about this game. This trailer, oddly enough as most seem to like it to a degree, literally drained the hype from my body.

Boring villainess with a nothing design.

Playing it far too straight for my liking with this franchise, gotta get sillier, though the one joke was cute.

Hyped for Jack of Blades but it's pretty obvious it'll be the lady there that turns into him by finding his mask somewhere and blah blah blah.

I just get the feeling this is gonna be very....safe....for lack of a better word.

The story seems less important in Fable games. It is much about how you interact within the world. It is supposed to be a true RPG

Yeah man, they're destroying Western games. The worst part is that the problems are so obvious. I've been a project manager for years outside gaming, and even I can see people sacrificing quality for niche ideas nobody wants.

These companies are wasting time, resources, and money by either ignoring what players actually want or being run by people making games for themselves instead of their audience.

Read the room devs, people are over this woke trash.

Game looks frigging awful and this is coming from a huge Peter Molyneux fanboy.

Yeah Black & White was awesome and his ambition was infectious.

This game looks like a modernized crappy fairytale. HARD PASS.

They literally confirmed the NPCs will react to you as per your standing in the game in the last reveal.
The biggest thing about the fable games was thhe obvious english style humor and medival setting- which they have shown in spades. Playground has never missed making a good game.

This may well be the biggest downgrade in videogame history, these 2 images don't even look like they're from the same game, studio, or generation.

I agree with this regarding part 3.

I half-agree with this regarding part 2.

I fully disagree with this regarding part 1.

Fable 1 felt the most feature and story complete, vs the sequels which both felt like interesting ideas that couldn't be fully fleshed out. It's why Fable 1 remained my favorite one.
