Turns out he does have further use for Hollywood after all.

If this sells enough tickets, Jack Sparrow will be back in 2030.

I might be biased because I'm a Dickens fan and A Christmas Carol is one of my all time favourites, but....

That looks absolutely shit. Offensively shit. Pass for me.

I guess enough time has passed to un-cancel him without taking any hit (or have any moral stance).
The court case made him a babyface and arguably turned the tide on blindly cancelling celebs based on one side of the story.

Nice to see him back, but I don't know what this story is going to be. The trailer left more more confused than when I went in. The story says it's going to tell us the story of how he became the grumpy old man in the first place, but then just showed some supernatural stuff. Is the premise that he was harassed by ghosts to the point that he became a grumpy old man?

As long as this plays during the credits the movie can do what it wants:

He was still canceled, even though the whole world saw that Amber Heard was a fucking lying cunt and nutcase?

Oh yea. Most of hollywood articles at the time was team Heard even after that trial. Bunch of bs. I don't think he did a movie in hollywood since then (i think he did one french one or something).

In the UK it was published in a newspaper that Depp was a wifebeater. He sued and lost after 12 of the 14 events that were offered up as evidence were judged to be both true and the actions of a domestic abuser. Depp tried to appeal and was told he had no chance of winning so was denied the appeal. That's why he was cancelled.

The court case that got more international attention was when Depp sued Herd for defamation in the USA. Herd counter sued on the grounds that his former lawyer defamed her by saying that the domestic abuse charges were untrue. In both cases the court awarded damages - both Herd and Depp were found to have been defamed by the other. Depp was awarded more but settled privately for less.

The scores at the end of it are that Depp was found to be a wife beater in 12 of 14 accusations while Herd defamed Depp 3 times in an article.

It's entirely possible that neither of them are the greatest people, as to whether you think Depp is the guy to stick up for is up to you. I'd probably pull up quite a long way short of calling her a fucking lying cunt though.
