I really hope this one is good, I thought that Monkey Magic Merry Go Round was good but could have been better. This movie has a similar vibe to that Monkey Magic film

Curious to see how this turns out. Too Many Cooks was uniquely unsettling. Wish I could've seen it without knowing the general outline beforehand.

A bunch of my favorite horror movies from the past decade ride a line right on funny/scary and go juuuuust far enough onto the scary side like TMC did. Hereditary, Obsession, and Weapons come to mind. Where stuff is presented in a way to make you uncomfortable, and natural reactions to that are to laugh or stress.

Hereditary, Obsession, and Weapons come to mind. Where stuff is presented in a way to make you uncomfortable, and natural reactions to that are to laugh or stress.

One of the recent horror movies that I watched that has a similar style to this was that Monkey Magic film, I enjoyed that one but thought it was nothing special. I highly reccomand Willy's Wonderland. It has an interesting concept and does Five Nights At Freddies way better

The brilliance of TMC was that it had horror elements but its biggest punch was the repetitive and surreal hell that it pulls the viewer into that acts aggressively as an anti-narrative.

I was lucky (or unlucky) to catch it when it was first hitting adult swim and it was an experience that left a jaded asshole like me a little shook.

It felt wrong, in format and presentation. While it was roughly horror, it was about the break down of the narrative structure as a concept and the malicious satire of the western 90s sitcom tropes to blend into something that was alien and wrong.

I am skeptical this could work as a film that expresses it is horror from the jump.

Def worth it for at the very least the "What the fuck was that" factor.

After you watch it, imagine when it was an unknown thing that just happened during the 4am hour of Adult Swim that some people just stumbled on. It did gain a cult following and viral discussion on Reddit soon after, but those first couple months made it like this fucked up weird thing people could stumble on, unknowingly.
