Mind boggling how EA lets this happen over and over.

I don't see any chance of a delay though. People have pre-ordered and EA is not going to risk them canceling their orders.

I think the player movement and controls are okay and not at all worse than in other BF titles.

What is 0/10 is the HUD. I have never seen such a poorly readable and cluttered HUD in my life.

Unfortunately, you have to wonder what DICE has been doing all this time, since actually all aspects of the game have not evolved, and in some cases even regressed.
And they didn't have to devote resources to making a campaign. This should be the ultimate battlefield based on that alone.

They'll get the LA team involved again no doubt about it. This can only be a good thing because the LA team actually seem to give a shit.

Plus this game runs like trash on any CPU that isn't from 2020-2021. I hope they can address that by launch Really don't think they will though.

BF5 dx12 is fine no issue's there.
BF1 was a bug fest because there was no reason to use it over dx11. It was completely useless so they spended no time on it
BF2042 has microstutter at certain area's, nothing to worry about could be ironed out easily at release.

1. The interface, HUD and map is a mess. Go back just one game DICE and you will find ok UI.

2. The destruction is laughable. THIS should be the big title that lets you bring everything down. Instead it's even more limited.

3. Bring back the old class system and add customizable soldiers.

4. Rework vehicle handling to feel less floaty and focus on making them count.

5. Make player movement more smooth like in previous games.

6. Add first person assassinations instead of third person.

7. REMOVE all weather gimmicks completely. A little wind and rain sure but get rid of all that other BS.

8. Rework the attachment system for guns. I don't want to mess with that during combat.

9. Make playing with bots OPTIONAL.

10. Make marking enemies for your team a feature that actually works. This is a must on huge maps.

1) HUD is fine, could use some improvements but honestly shouldn't take to long for them to make or apply. TAB screne should relfect all players tho which should be a easy fix.
2) Destruction is fine, leveling the entire houses and buildings with 128 men would mean what u got in bad company that after 3 minutes the whole map has flat buildings and there is no place to hide anywhere anymore from planes.
3) I have no issue's with the new class system
4) handling is fine, i hope they make it even harder for the simple reason helicopters and planes will absolutely decimate the field like in BF4 and BF3 otherwise, they need to focus on this more then anything else.
5) player movement is smooth, physics where broken but that's probably fixed by now.
6) minor fix, shouldn't be hard to implement.
7) not going to happen weather was a thing in BF4 also, its here to stay.
8) Would be better if they change it in loudout. changing this every server join is annoying indeed, minor fix
9) i agree, i don't want bots in my game again minor fix
10) minor fix, i disagree for the simple reason that heli's and planes will absolute flat line soldiers on the map. Marking enemy's gotta go entirely or what they got going on right now is fine.

In short no need for a delay.

The second part of your post explains the first.

As long as people put up with games that are broken, incomplete or buggy at launch it'll continue, or even get worse.

If we all just stopped buying stuff until reviews were out, that would help.

Jokes on you OP.
Every Battlefield player already knows the game is actually gonna be finished a few months down the line.
Its for all intents and purposes an Early Access launch that they eventually finish as we keep playing it.
Some of the impatient players will abandon it, but after the first big content drop the game will be a good state and players will return.

On Topic
  • Destruction im not super fussed about, as long as I can still take out campers hiding behind a wall im all good.
The maps are so large I imagine they couldnt go back to BC2 or BF3 Alpha/Beta levels of destruction.

  • When we have more specialists in the game ill be able to properly gauge the new class system....right now I actually dont mind it because of the freedom.
Although I would have liked generic soldiers instead of actual specialists. Just let me pick the class that has the gadget with everything else still free....the characters are generic soldier male female whatever.
The reason I dont want customizable characters is they will waste loot boxes on us giving us shit we will never use or worst still they run out of ideas and start doing weird shit that you will see every kid have on the battlefield.

  • Spot Spam can fuck right off.
No sir not for me please.

  • The UI is really bad, im not sure why they went with this considering its the same UI/UX designer from Battlefield 1 im really shocked.I know the lead UI/UX designer is the same man who brought us Commander mode for Tablets if anyone remembers that.
But Natalies work on BF1 was stellar so easy to read, the kill feed made sense, the XP gains were clear and non intrusive.Heck I used to play Battlefield 1 with the female russian announcer just cause she sounded so calm during all this chaos but the UI gave me all the information I needed.
She might have missed how most people arent actually enjoying the UI

I think most gamers right now agree that BF 2042 in its current state is not ready to ship. Here are 10 basic points that the game must fix:

1. The interface, HUD and map is a mess. Go back just one game DICE and you will find ok UI.

2. The destruction is laughable. THIS should be the big title that lets you bring everything down. Instead it's even more limited.

3. Bring back the old class system and add customizable soldiers.

Now given how slow DICE works I think EA needs to man up and give them a year to fix, what could be, a great game.

What do you guys think? What needs to change? Are you like me willing to wait?

1. I heard a lot of complaints about the interface, UI on the console version. I didn't have a problem with it personally. On PC.

2. Agree, Compared to Bad Company 2 where buildings can be fully destroyed. I've seen buildings on 2042 that have loads of holes but yet the structure remains in tact. Feels like a step back.

3. Agree. All the soldiers looked generic and samey. Regardless what team you played on.

4. Can't comment. I've only driven a Humvee or a buggy. Not driven a tank or flown a heli. Only got to play the beta for one day.

5. I thought it felt OK, compared to BF4 where the tiniest object could clip you and prevent you from vaulting.

6. Don't really care about this.

7. Hard disagree. Having a tornado going across the map certainly changed things. Love to see more of this.

8. I quite like it. Love being able to change from a CQB to a range load set up. I always thought it was tedious on having to constantly go into menu just to change one attachment.

9. Agree. But include a mode where you can practice with bots if you want to improve on something such as sniping or piloting.

10. Yes. I hate the new marking feature. When I tried it, always had "go to this location" rather than the snappy "enemy spotted" like you get in BF4.

I agree that some things needs to change, wouldn't mind if it was delayed by about 3 to 6 months (with another, more polished beta build)

Beta was straight gross. Big disappointment with DICE. If people had fun with that... then good luck and more power to you. Hard pass unless they show off a completely different game at launch.

The second part of your post explains the first.

As long as people put up with games that are broken, incomplete or buggy at launch it'll continue, or even get worse.

If we all just stopped buying stuff until reviews were out, that would help.
It has hurt them though. ME Andromeda sold just ok I believe and the DLC was cancelled. Anthem might have had decent sales initially but it certainly didn't live up to the GaaS dream I'm sure EA had for the game. BFV sold significantly less than previous BF games. But they just don't care. Hitting the holiday season or the fiscal year seems to be more important to them than anything else.

Sony

Nintendo
The problem is that a delay would be helpful with bugs, glitches etc., but most of the issues people have with 2042 (myself included) are game design related. It's need a thorough rework. A year won't fix that. Which is a shame because I really like some of the ideas.

Performance (fps in certain/busy areas) needs improved, but given it’s a beta, it’s likely better already.

HUD is just too different. I want to see my points come up in the middle as they always have done. I don’t like taking my eyes off the action to glance right. Such a step backwards. And as for the icons representing capture points! I know I’m getting on a bit, but I can’t read the letter in the middle of them unless I put my nose to the TV. Messy.

I have no issues with the current destruction. I think we have rose tinted nostalgia specs on here. Yes, you could level CERTAIN buildings in the maps in BC2, but all it meant were lots of flat buildings to get snagged on 5 minutes into each map. I liked BF3s ‘levelution’, with map specific events. Maybe we are getting something similar again here?

My main gripe however is 128 players. It’s just too much. The maps are huge to accommodate, but most folk just congregate around a few select areas, resulting in almost instant death upon spawn in that area. 64 was the sweet spot I feel, and there’s not much that can be done about that now.

When all is said and done, we played an old beta on one map. I am sure it will be better come release, and continually improved post release.

If only they could release some sort of demo or B version of the game where players could test it and provide feedback that they then could implement for release or shortly after,

If only…

I think its in trouble and agreed it needs to be delayed.

Thankful that PS gave me Hell Let Loose I am getting really sucked into this game.

That first time seeing an enemy sneaking across a field and seeing him drop with a single shot from my M1 and I was in love

There is a lot that needs changing.

Mainly the Specialists need to have some sort of Faction thing going on.

All the BFV movement is gone... Leaning doesn't exist, being prone on your back has disappeared, rolling to negate some fall damage. They've gone completely backwards.

Movement sucks, the map feels way too barren for me, the specialists are shallow, the UI/Hud elements are a mess, the weapons feel average and the bugs are well, they're bugs.

The past betas had big differences to the final game for any bf series…I’d expect it to still launch on time but it’s gonna be a rough 3-4 months

Looks like this isn't even worth getting with my current card as PC performance is ropey to say the least with with 3000 series cards. How long is that going to take them to fix?

Ppersonally id just cancel the whole game, it feels and plays nothing like battlefield at all, cant believe they made a solid game of battlefield 4, best one since bad company but have completely failed to capture the same feeling since

Nah, it's more than fine.

In my time with it, there was jank sure, but that will be buffed out. Along with the B and C bugs that I experienced, which were a lot of visual based issues. Nothing that affected gameplay. No crashes, obscene performance issues, etc.

Like all DICE games, at least over the past almost decade, they launch with jank and bugs. it will be fine.

This always gets me. The old build solution.

A company would be outright retarded if they open beta and let's the public try an old shitty build.

Why even beta something that has been fixed?

Completely agree with you. I can't believe people still fall for that "it's an old build!" bologna :messenger_tears_of_joy: Sure, it's older than their most current version, but to think it's dramatically different is a different story.

Impossible. It would be terrible PR and shareholders would never allow it.

For all its flaws, at least with CoD you always get rock solid shooting and moving mechanics. In 2042 beta I couldn’t get shots to register for whatever reason and when they do, never enough to actually kill someone before they instantly laser me. I had to spend all 32 bullets on one person and was lucky to get them on the last few shots. Unacceptable.

Vanguard is no MW19 but easy choice between the 2 this autumn/winter.

Agree, but its already being fixed, or is fixed. Beta had a place holder UI in a lot of areas.
2. The destruction is laughable. THIS should be the big title that lets you bring everything down. Instead it's even more limited.
Agree. 128 players cost us destruction. Or maybe it was due to cpu limits on older consoles and not wanting to make different art assets for old and new gen games.
3. Bring back the old class system and add customizable soldiers.
Specialists are fine, they just need to add faction based skins.
4. Rework vehicle handling to feel less floaty and focus on making them count.
The 3rd person camera is what is bad with vehicles. They could be tuned up but driving/flying in first person feels better.
5. Make player movement more smooth like in previous games.
Player movement feels great in BF2042. They just need to add back in a few features from BF5 that should not have been removed.
6. Add first person assassinations instead of third person.
Agree
7. REMOVE all weather gimmicks completely. A little wind and rain sure but get rid of all that other BS.
Disagree, the tornadoes are awesome and they don't happen that often. Also, you can completely avoid them if you want. Non issue.
8. Rework the attachment system for guns. I don't want to mess with that during combat.
I think you will be able to adjust them out of combat. For beta they wanted to force people to use it in order to get feedback.
9. Make playing with bots OPTIONAL.
Total non issue. On friday and saturday I never saw a bot.
10. Make marking enemies for your team a feature that actually works. This is a must on huge maps.
Fuck spotting. Shooting at doritos in bf4 was retarded.
Now given how slow DICE works I think EA needs to man up and give them a year to fix, what could be, a great game.

They don't need to delay to fix the UI and tweak vehicles. The only major issue in your list is assassinations and honestly, I shoot in these games and don't really give a shit about them. We arent getting Bad Company like destruction ever again.

You say this now but when I said I had no faith in the release game due to playing the alpha and seeing its current state you said

If you were in the BF3 and BF4 alphas you should have noticed a massive difference between the Alphas and the Betas, cuz the Alphas looked and played bad like bad bad the Betas were an improvement and then even the launch code of BF3 was a big improvement over the Beta.
So I dont know what you are talking about.

<--- Was in the BF3 and BF4 Alphas and Betas.
Now you're trying to excuse it by saying every Battlefield player knows its going to be shit on release :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Those two posts dont contradict each other?

If this Beta build is like prior BFs and is months old the final game will come out in a much better state....but thats not to say it will come out in BF3 EndGame state.

Have you played the last few games? They release the game and basically beta test for a few months, releasing periodic updates to remove bugs and glitches. Over time features will be added. What you want is basically what they would call a sequel to 2042.

What I don’t understand is how it feels like they are almost starting from scratch, rather than iterating on BF5. It actually feels a bit like the BF4 beta more than BF5, so maybe it’s a different code base altogether. Perhaps the destruction physics requires this.

Im still looking forward to it, because I think it’s still a unique game for what it accomplishes.

The lighting also looked really flat. Compared to previous entries it just doesn't look that good. Maybe it was just the map they offered.

CPU utilization bugs need ironed out.

Then you should know that the game will not be much better by launch
I dont think it’s bad tho tbh. I wont be playing conquest bc I find that mode boring but im excited to play the other modes with friends.

Game looks great and I give leniency with the scope compared to all other games out there. CoD could never

Battlefield has always been a work in progress. I don’t mind seeing the improvements as I go. If you don’t like to do that buy it in 6 months or so.
The issue is this game could be dead on arrival. This is a MP only game, the MP should be good day one to build up the player base.
12 months later it'll be polished and you'll all love it.

I think.
People will forget about this game at that point, they don’t have time to waste like that especially with how competitive the FPS market is now.
Nope!

And.....

Not releasing a long awaited modern BF while COD is releasing a ww2 game from a business standpoint is foolish.
COD could be set in space and still do triple the numbers that battlefield does, they will never beat COD or come close in sales because they are two fundamental different games.

If getting COD players was BF’s goal they would have released a more new player friendly beta and added a smaller map option.
This always gets me. The old build solution.

A company would be outright retarded if they open beta and let's the public try an old shitty build.

Why even beta something that has been fixed?
They are in denial, I don’t think the final game will be that much different than the beta but I do think it will get patched a few months later.

They would have released a better beta if that option was on the table, the open beta was very important to possibly getting more sales for the game day one, why would they released a crap open beta if they had a better build?

True. The UI is a terrible mess.
And the map was crap. Very poorly designed.

Agree. A decade later, and BF is still not on par with Bad Company 2.

Also agree.

Another good point. Vehicle handling was also bad.

Player movement has always been a bit janky on BF games. But BF 2042 made this much worse.

Don't care much about this, either way.

Completely agree.
I hate this stupid gimmick.

Also true. It's like we are playing a mobile game.

Bots have to go. Period.
This is a MP game. If I wanted to play with bots, I would buy a SP game.
This has to be the dumbest idea Dice ever had.

No. Getting tagged and them all of the other team knowing exactly where you are, was one of the biggest issues in previous BF.
It ruins tactics. Ruins flanking and surprising the enemy.

Yes, there is so much to fix. They should just bite the bullet and delay the game.
At least by delaying the game, they have a chance of making something good.

Also performance is really bad. Mostly because of stutter.

BTW, you could had a vote on this question.
Poll added. I truly feel it could be a good game but they need a year.

ya, this game has had trouble written all over it. that being said, I doubt a delay would fix it. they need to start from scratch and rework the engine
