no signs of Bethesda.
Or Xbox Games studio
no signs of Bethesda.
Not sure why anyone thinks Bethesda will ever do their own event again. They are essentially platform exclusive (if you consider that platform to be Game Pass). They are going to show everything they have (save the one PS exclusive game) during Microsoft's show. Why would Microsoft let them run their own event, thus lowering the excitement and hype for Microsoft's event.Yeah but I still would think they'd do their own xbox/bethesda event
Nintendo, Xbox and Ubisoft back digital-only E3 2021
E3 2021 will return this June in digital form, and has been backed by Nintendo, Xbox, Capcom, Konami, Ubisoft, Take-Two…www.gamesindustry.biz
sometimes I think this is a bit overblown. Can't wait for Phil Spencer to start over promising so that he can under deliver again.
Which would be a nice change.Phil doesn't really have to promise anything. He has so many studios under his control, he can just show you shit instead.
Is Hermen now also in the frothing fanboy shitlist? I can't keep up.Sony should not skip and put Jim and Hermen as the hosts.
He already showed me shit in November, it was called halo 5Phil doesn't really have to promise anything. He has so many studios under his control, he can just show you shit instead.
Yes! It is funnyCan't wait for Phil Spencer to start over promising so that he can under deliver again
Dear god! People adore him way too much, in a non healthy relationship way!sometimes I think this is a bit overblown.
A lot of this "promises" are really vague and can arguably have "come true" when you look at it with a broader stroke beyond what most of us consider what matters. Very reggie esque, where it sounds stupid and you can argue he lied, but then when you read his actual words - it's our interpretation that was wrong as they technically were correct in some regards. Even when he says things like "this is our best E3 ever" - that's always subjective anyways and meant to be a marketing ploy to build hype.

What is your source to say Sony, EA, Activision or Square will skip E3? The press release not mentioning them doesn't mean they will skip E3, they can announce it later as always happened for many companies. They simply don't list all the dozens of companies attending E3 every year in the first list of announced companies.Nintendo, Xbox and Ubisoft back digital-only E3 2021

Where did Sony, EA, Activision or Square said they will skip E3? The press release not mentioning them doesn't mean they will skip E3, they can announce it later as always happened for many companies.
All companies skipped E3 last year (bad joke, sorry)Sony and EA skipped last year too.
I think it's less adoration, as it might be appreciation. Before Phil, the people in control of Xbox/Microsoft were just... so business heavy and had no understanding of gamers at all. Phil Spencer has basically become their Iwata/Reggie combo like Nintendo use to have. Both Iwata and Reggie always got a ton of praise even when Nintendo made really stupid decisions. Even to this day, Reggie is considered gaming royalty.Yes! It is funny

Typical Sony. What more can be said at this point.
He is business suit! He was in before he got “promoted” aka nobody wants to take Xbox leadership! If knowing what gaming is about is having your fans telling you what to do then... yeah he’s an expert!I think it's less adoration, as it might be appreciation. Before Phil, the people in control of Xbox/Microsoft were just... so business heavy and had no understanding of gamers at all. Phil Spencer took over when Xbox was in a very dark place and Phil Spencer, unlike prior people running Xbox, actually plays video games and understands gamers more than anyone else who has head the reigns. So sure he's as guilty as Nintendo's old combo of getting overhyped and over worshiped, but it's mostly because Xbox fans don't want to go back to the dark days of a company that has no idea about anything gaming anymore.
I think Phil is who he is at this point. He's a mostly net positive for Microsoft and Xbox. Fans are going to fanboy away regardless. People use to fawn like this over Kaz on the PlayStation side of things too. That's just the nature of people.
Yeah, I mean they will do their own digital event like last year but they will have zero presence at the biggest media event in gaming this year. All the journalists will be there. Not just the ones they invite to do interviews with jim Ryan. They think they are above all this now when in reality they need to show up more than ever.
Eh, this is just being very disingenuous. At worst, it's showing some protentional console war attitude where you want to talk down Phil and Xbox regardless of what they do.He already showed me shit in November, it was called halo 5
He could show games, and he could have done that for seven years, and yet everything they've shown is just as shit.
Phil Spencer is just Don Mattrick in a fat suit.
Yeah because between over hyping their E3 and giving you trailers that are not even realistic to the final game .They think they are above all this now when in reality they need to show up more than ever.
As a person who has covered Nintendo for 20 years, I'll just say that the circles you run in create your perception of fan interactions. I have seen tons of people get really upset when Kaz was made fun of in the past. Point is, the circles we run in create the perception of reality of fan interactions. He is business suit! He was in before he got “promoted” aka nobody wants to take Xbox leadership! If knowing what gaming is about is having your fans telling you what to do then... yeah he’s an expert!
People made fun of Kaz and he took it as a joke! If anyone makes a joke about Phil, people rush to defend his “honor” or something....
Eh, this is just being very disingenuous. At worst, it's showing some protentional console war attitude where you want to talk down Phil and Xbox regardless of what they do.
Start at 7 years ago. You talk about how "He could have done that for 7 years" - referencing back to when Xbox One launched. Phil was not in control when Xbox One launched. Now, roughly 7 years ago he was handed the reigns of Xbox, but Xbox was in a shit hole at the time. Considering it takes 3 to 5 years to make AAA games minimum, and considering the black hole Microsoft was in, Phil can't really be blamed for the first few years of the platform because those decisions started before Xbox One even came out.
But even objectively speaking, has there really been nothing but shit on Xbox One? Sea of Thieves didn't turn out to be really good in the end? Halo Wars 2 wasn't good? The Forza series didn't continue to flourish? Halo and Gears didn't have quality entries? Cuphead and Ori, games funded by Microsoft, weren't good?
Yeah, that doesn't sound so great when you look up Sony's exclusives, and it doesn't sound great when Scalebound ended up getting canceled. But Microsoft didn't exactly have anything going for it BEFORE Phil took over. Seriously, they had very few active game studios.
So, after Phil likely spent his early years restructuring Xbox, he spent the last 3 years convincing Microsoft to not only invest in game pass and xcloud, but to allow him to grow Microsoft's studios through acquisitions. He hasn't shown games since doing so?
So I imagined the reveal of the new Hellblade game? Halo Infinite was delayed (and for good reason), but wasn't that shown? The Medium, Flight Simulator, Psychonaughts 2, Everwild, As Dusk Falls, Avowed, Fable, new Forza, State of Decay 3, and now all of Bethesda's offerings like Starfield, the upcoming Elder Scrolls 6, etc. (you can take away credit for Bethesda for now, until they show things after the acquisition).
That's not "shit". Not even objectively speaking. That's games coming to Xbox Series X/S in the next few years (some already out) that represent a wide variety of content. You don't have to be excited for any of it - that's fine. It's like when people tell me they aren't into Nintendo games - hey that's totally fine. It doesn't mean those game are shit. It means your taste is different.
We don't need to sit here and throw entire companies under the bus for not making the games YOU want, when they factually have shown games. Microsoft has shown all these games off in the last year.
why Obsidian is not listed? are they skipping the show?Or Rare. WTF?
Kaz had a fake Twitter account that made fun of him and Sony, imagine if someone make one of Phil? It wouldn’t even last 3 hours, I assume, death treats. As a person who has covered Nintendo for 20 years, I'll just say that the circles you run in create your perception of fan interactions. I have seen tons of people get really upset when Kaz was made fun of in the past. Point is, the circles we run in create the perception of reality of fan interactions.
See, name calling. Testicular fortitude.Yes I am going to talk down Spencer, the same as I did Mattrick, because they're both shite at running that division.
I won't sit by and let Microsoft be another Sega just because list warslz and Phil Phil Phil.
I want them to make the games like they used to. You know, when they took the industry by storm and scared the shite out of Sony and Nintendo. Mattrick could have sunk the PlayStation division but he was too interested in making interactive games about little boys. fucking pedo.
But I've argued with tosser fanboys like you for a decade and I hate you all. You champion mediocrity because you lack the testicular fortitude to say "this is alright, but we want you at your best"
Do prepare for interview "best e3 ever" statements though. He's going to Reggie hype the shit out of this year's E3. He's probably feeling super confident after Microsoft let him spend 7.5 billion.Which would be a nice change.

Microsoft right now today is a bigger threat to both companies they have been at any point in gaming history. They have NEVER been a threat to Nintendo, and even the one gen with Sony... Sony did it to themselves.
Microsoft right now is pushing games as a service and xcloud, and if those blow up - that's the biggest threat ever to Sony & Nintendo. They are doing right now, factually, what you claim you wanted them to do all along.
I don't know about fanboys, but he is in my probation list. He is part of the Penny Station EU Crew.Is Hermen now also in the frothing fanboy shitlist? I can't keep up.
Why? its Microsoft now not bethesda.Yeah but I still would think they'd do their own xbox/bethesda event
I won't reply to you again, you're pulling the classic shill deflection.See, name calling. Testicular fortitude.
You're using the language of an angry teenager. I'm just being honest. I'm not fanboying for anyone. If nothing else, my bias is for Nintendo, not microsoft. I own a PS5, Series X, and Switch. I game on all 3. I also game on PC. I am not sitting here championing anyone. I am just recognizing the strengths and weaknesses of each company. You feel like Microsoft could have scared the world. You want them to what, make games like they use to?
List of Original Xbox Exclusives
The complete List of Exclusive Games for Original Xbox, "Only On Xbox"xbmcxbox.blogspot.com
Like that? It's a long list, but I mean... where are the Microsoft created bangers in there? Even Microsoft published? There are a handful absolutely, but let's be honest: That's not exactly some impressive list. Halo was their fundamental game changer. It caused two things in the industry: 1. Proved you could charge money for people to play online together. 2. Proved online FPS multiplayer games can work with a dual stick controller, a concept that really wants that proven at the time.
That was the original Xbox's claim to fame. Basically taking PC concepts and making them work on console.
Or for you, is back in the day just the Xbox 360 era? When was Nintendo scared again? I'm just curious. Wii was stomping the 360 in sales. When was Sony scared? Oh, when they overpriced a $600 system using tech nobody asked for when the 360 was cheaper and neither system had "banger" exclusives yet?
Yet, what happened in the end?
Microsoft right now today is a bigger threat to both companies they have been at any point in gaming history. They have NEVER been a threat to Nintendo, and even the one gen with Sony... Sony did it to themselves.

But because they aren't doing it the WAY you want them to, it's not good enough. See, this isn't me fanboying. I'm not even attacking you. Your opinions are your own. But when you come out and name call and attack others for disagreeing with you, the only one that ends up sounding like a fanboy is... you.
expanded to 23 studios and has the output of zero studios. Way to go current day microsoftThe fact you consider what he said a fanboy response says a lot more about you than him
If you think expanding from 5 first party studios to 23 in less than 3 years (including acclaimed studios like BGS, Ninja Theory, Playground, ID, Obsidian among others) is "championing mediocrity" or "shite at running the division", then I don't know what could possibly change your mind. Xbox was in absolute shambles when Phil took over, I'm not saying he's infallible or anything but the state of Xbox is the best it's ever been, and it was the worst it's ever been when he took over, is it all Phil? No of course not, but he's arguably the main reason Microsoft decided that it was worth investing in Xbox to an extent they never had before (even during the fabled 360 days most of their first party output was partnerships with Bioware, Epic, or Remedy, not any substantial first party developers). If you don't like any of the announced upcoming Xbox games or any of their new studios that's fine, preferences are inherently subjective. But between incredible backwards compatibility (including things like FPS boost which enhance an older game), Game Pass (whether you like it or not, it's a pretty substantial service that millions of people absolutely love), xCloud, and massive first party investment (both new studios and expanding existing ones), Xbox is clearly on the upswing. This doesn't mean Xbox is going to dominate Sony and Nintendo or anything but to act like Xbox isn't in a very good place right now seems incredibly disingenuous. Xbox is far closer to catching up than they are to "becoming another Sega"
I've been sat in the waiting room for an hour.Go see a professional psychiatrist. Like, now.

It's the internet and I'm here for my entertainment. I laugh my fucking cock off at some the replies I get on here. You just need to know how to tap the right vein
Spencer at the head seven yearsAre you being purposely obtuse or do you not realize games take time to make? Plus there's been this whole pandemic thing which impacted game development.
pandemic affects gaming two years
I was giving the other guy the benefit of the doubt. He said the pandemic affected gaming, which it has, but to prove a point I said two years, rather than arguing over a year or 18 months. You mean the lockdowns and restrictions?
Or has COVID wiped out a bunch of game devs and I never heard about it?
It's strange because I thought Sony could have at the very least, done a montage of old/current BC games, shown Horizon 2, God of War and teased the new naughty dog project.Sounds like Sony is going to have another weak year. They really aren't replacing the hype E3 has with their State of Play shows.
Nintendo has the best digital events out of anyone with their Direct series. Even with that, they still also have the best E3 showing almost every year with days of Treehouse coverage.
Sony marketing has lost the plot.
I don't know what their calculation is on this one, but it's clearly the wrong decision. It's strange because I thought Sony could have at the very least, done a montage of old/current BC games, shown Horizon 2, God of War and teased the new naughty dog project.
They must be way behind schedule
