Demon's Souls screens

Yea it looks third person to me.

That appears to be one of the "changes" that SCEA is making to From's development schimatics. Which is a shame, because it wont *be* King's Field. But at least people are still talking about it and a "spiritual" successor is still better than an "untimely and ill-fated death"

I love when people get all excited about screenshots of From games. You guys are gonna be sooo disappointed. I bet I like it, though!

Ahh, that's a shame though.
I felt Eternal Ring was the weakest of all of their first person RPGs.

King's Field 1, 2, The Ancient City, and Shadow Tower were all better.
Strangely, after loving all of them, I just couldn't get that far into Eternal Ring.

Too clean for me I guess.
King's Field and Shadow Tower were the first games to spring to mind when people were asking for series suited for MM9-style sequels. I love how ugly the PSX games are. All jaggy and crude and dirty. Makes things so much creepier.

The PS2 games are also good, of course. I'm hoping someday the near-finished Shadow Tower Abyss localization leaks.

You forgot that SONY is helping them with some devs and money. It's still a SONY game

So much dark and then out of nowhere bright ass blue or yellow. Sex

Yeah, I'm really digging the monochromatic look of this. Reminds of a few GoW levels, that did it really well.

Chrono Cross remade?

Funny ... in the 'guess the EGM cover' thread ... my guess was its Chrono 3 (what would have been Chrono Break, had they not let the name copyright expire).

Haha, I'm guessing not as it seems to be an indoor environment. But you never know.

Could be a hole in the roof? :p

(Actually, that's how a lot of celestial calendars, etc are now that I think about it)

Is this confirmed coming to the USA?

Hasn't been confirmed (crap, the game hasn't even been officially announced - that'll happen in a few days at TGS) ... but I find it VERY unlikely the west will be skipped.

Most of From's games have made it here, but considering this is being produced (and it appears designed/dev'd in part) by Sony ... I'd say its a lock!

Heh, yeah I suppose. Just looking at the environment in it's entirety suggests not (to me at least). But the freaking magic, not pentagrams... what's the word? Anyway, those circles on the floor give me a cool vibe about this.

King's Field 1, Shadow Tower: Abyss, and King's Field Additional I and 2 didn't make it to the US. Neither did Sword of Moonlight KF level creator nor all 3 of the Mobile games.

I say chances are good here, but I wouldn't bet on a lock yet.

(p.s. - please be first person Demon's Soul)

I quite like the monochromatic looks as well. I think the key to making a monochromatic look work is how you handle your accents. Demon's Souls seems to be empathising the contrast in the lighting to do this, which is the way Team Ico games have also done it, to great effect.

This did kind of came out of nowhere, did it? And yes, reading description and looking at the screens, how can you not get the "Oblivion of Colossus" impression? The color palette, lighting use and huge flying manta enemies really does look like SotC in some of those screens.

The theme is like Oblivion but really with much less jarring art direction. I don't quite get the comments about it looking generic. The theme may be generic, but they are at least infusing it with some higher quality artwork than what's normally found in this kind of games.

I also like the talk about the heavy use of physics and environmental interaction.

Seems Sony is getting into the habit of revealing games closer to completion now, at least from SCEJ.

yes! The vids better not disappoint. I hate getting such a good vibe from screens like this...seeing a jrpg with art that resembles berserk, and having it look crap in motion.

I would love more jrpgs with a dark theme. Apparently versus has to some degree, but it is following a more flashy tip (which I also like)
