Controllers |OT| It's the Hall-Effect Life!

I recently picked up the Mobapad Chitu 2 Silent Edition:

I really like the ergonomics and the grip. Internal gate on the thumbsticks make them fukin' buttery smooth. Buttons and sholders feel first party and sound so quiet.

Great little controller for $50, but the only thing wrong with it was the smell. I had to clean the fuck out of it to get that nasty China warehouse smell out of it. Also no headphone jack is really annoying 😒
I expect it to have the same Switch Pro profile as Gamesir Super Nova - I really liked the ergonomics on that one so I'm waiting till they drop Super Nova 2 with JS13 Pros instead of Hall Effects.

I think I wanted to try Chitu 2 initially but it has digital triggers (meaning it basically acts as a bumper so it's either 0 or 1 press) and not analog/hall effect ones (pressure sensitive).

Since my Steam Controller reservation will be processed in September, I decided to order Leadjoy Saber Plus for now, I will report back once I have it.

Btw

The whole Steam Controller thing is ridiculous, no idea how they managed to mess it up on this scale. Maybe they need to do a hardware revision, would explain why there dont seem to be much movement for the next 3(!) months.

On the other hand, it's just a controller so I'm okayish waiting a bit. At least I'm not in December or 2027 batch, lmao.

I was just talking with Durin Durin today they may be prioritizing Steam Machine and Steam Frame bundles with Steam Controller over us buying only controllers. But it just our guess Topher Topher .

More than likely. Also have seen more than a few scalpers on ebay selling a bunch of the controllers for $200+. Think they dropped the ball on that. Probably should have given priority to accounts that have made purchases before.

But either way.....at least I know about when I can expect it. Some folks are waiting until next year so I'm not going to complain any more.

Well, I received my Steam Controller day before yesterday, but have only had it fired up for two gaming sessions so far.

I must say, it feels REALLY good in the hands. That was what I was most concerned about, really. I haven't customized it like you're able to, though, so can't attest to that yet.

The charging puck is cool, how it snaps straight to the controller when you get it close enough. Makes charging easy.

If I have to levy a gripe about it, I'd say I am not a fan of symmetrical sticks, never have been, so the left stick in particular always feels like my left thumb is riding the edge of it, and it's slightly annoying.
Having said that, a lifetime of using symmetrical sticks on other platforms and I'm mostly immune. The sticks themselves are super smooth and feel great.

Buttons feel nice, and the rear triggers as well. The four back buttons are raised, not flush, which I thought might bother me, but in practice they don't at all.

Overall, so far anyway, I'm satisfied. It feels like a premium product without being overly heavy, and the fact that it's so intertwined with the Steam ecosystem is really nice.

I think they misunderstood interest, have more limited manufacturing capability, and they have to hold back some portion to bundle with the Steam Machine.

Valve may have a big platform in Steam, but that platform doesn't include huge hardware manufacturing like others, and they don't have 1000s of employees (or even 500).

Damn I want this but do not need it at all. If it worked with Switch 2 id bite .

Love that clear plastic is becoming more common in these controllers.

I might at some point try the Ultimate 3 from 8BitDo to see how the more flared out grip design like the Xbox controllers works for me, but as nice as the lavender design is I'd prefer some transparent plastic color design instead.

My Saber Plus has been shipped. Deegital posted a picture with size comparison with DualSense.

just got the Gamesir G7 Pro for my Xbox

big upgrade in terms of ergonomics over the Wolverine V3 I mainly used before.
the dpad is a huge downgrade compared to it tho, and the impulse triggers (like with all 3rd party controllers I've ever tried) don't have enough punch to be actually good for something like Forza.

the main reason I got it is because it's wireless, has adjustable reaction curves for the sticks (something the Wolverine lacks), and the ergonomics (the Wolverine v3 just has weird handles... not bad but weird)

so far it feels nice, slightly cheaper built than the Wolverine IMO but good enough, and the sticks are basically perfect.
it does have rubber grips tho... so it's gonna be interesting if those go bad too fast or if they're decently made... rubber grips are always a minus point tho.

Using the Gamesir G7 Pro more. I'm liking it more and more. There are games I can't use it at all because of the D-pad. Space Marine 2 was one. You get very limited health items in that game. Right on the d-pad uses one. Down on the d-pad changes weapons. I think you can figure out what happened here. Because of that, it makes a poor one-controller solution. But I think it's a hell of a value if you're rocking a fleet of controllers. The games it works for, it's the best controller I've ever used.

A simple membrane d-pad option would make this a legit one-controller contender though.

The Dpad was apparently fixed on more expensive versions of the Gamesir G7 pro. I don't know how well it works, but there's a fix you can do with O-rings that is supposed to help.

Leadjoy Xeno Plus definitely is one of my favorites currently, so I can't wait for Saber Plus.

Xeno Plus has got the same shell profile as Gamesir G7 Pro, and more linear sticks, I would give G7 Pro edge over slightly better triggers but it's just tad bit better not something which would want me to go back to G7 Pro, dpad is a whole lotta better on Xeno Plus compered to regular G7 Pro.

I have white G7 Pro which I bought in August of 2025 kevboard kevboard I noticed a two months ago that grips and sticks went from white to beige in colour and I tend to wipe my controllers from time to time with 99% water based wet wipes - they didn't disintegrate I give them that, so rubber is at least good quality. But they will change colour in about six months from your sweat.

I also like the rubber on Xeno Plus thumbsticks, it's so grippy. And since Saber Plus will use the exact same rubber, and sticks, I have a feeling it will be probably my favorite symmetrical controller this year.

thankfully the Zenless Zone Zero edition I got (was the cheapest) has black grips and black rubber on the back, and comes with a transparent black and a white faceplate.
