Certain phrases and words you are using indicate an excess of soy in your diet

sometimes I feel like OT section has nothing better to do with their lifes than crying about stupid internet shit for internet points.. it's exhausting.. every second thread is about soy crap, incels or some other stupid shit. How 'bout we go back and talk about things that actually are fun to talk about?..

Not a word or phrase, but I've noticed high-fiving women seems to be a thing now (notice the open mouth):

Using the ♥ emoji and Xs (kisses) at the end of every social media post. It seems to be a growing trend among males here in England.
Not with me. I've never done that x shit at the end of a text. Even when women have told me it's rude not to, i've told them to fuck off. Funny thing is, i've had more respect for doing that, than just bowing and putting X's on the end of a text.

Now I'm genuinely curious about how y'all got associated with soyboys. What's the story there? I can't say I've noticed any of them using it, on Twitter or wherever it is these people dwell, but then it's a commonly used word down here anyway so maybe I wouldn't notice?

This lingo is just overflow from the Twitter sewer. Chances are some tweets that went big were using it.

Yeah, it's kinda embarrassing . To me every thread like this reeks of insecurity and desperation. Like we're a bunch hormonal teenagers so scared of everything we don't get that the only way we can feel good about ourselves is by trash talking everything. The irony.

What are you? 12?

Imagine watching Beavies and Butthead, but it's not funny. That's you.

One that I've heard from Starbucks employees and my entitled left -leaning brother-in-law is "boss." How they use it.

E.G. -- I dunno, sounds a bit risky, boss.
What can I do for you today, boss?
What do you think about Biden gaining the popular vote for November, boss?

Mind you, the way I've heard "men" use this is condescending and when I first heart University students saying this...I had no clue why the he'll they're calling me boss. I think I asked a guy one time and he just stayed silent. I don't even think they know. I feel like that usage of the word boss should be reciprocated with dumbass.

E.G. -- How's life been treating you, boss?
Correct human response: Treating me better when I'm far from people like you, dumbass.

Ask me about my terrible takes on Star Trek characters
We need to talk about...

All this is such affected annoying language, I don't know how people don't cringe violently when they write these out. It reminds me of valley girl talk. I don't understand memetic phrasings in the slightest.
Especially when combined with THAT as in "We need to talk about THAT character"

sweet summer child

Where do NPC's get this shit? This has been a popular phrase among many at my work the past several weeks and the only other place I've seen it is in condescending lefty tweets.

For some reason when people repeat phrases like this I find it absolutely revolting and I lose respect for you immediately, like it's a clear signal that you are an NPC, it's "reference humour" in that there is no joke or quirk, the meat of it is that you remember this from social media and hope others do as well.

When they try and reverse shit. Like I had one moron tell me the other day that "The right can't gif or meme" and I was like huh? Is this opposite day? I think half or their mindset is literally telling lies to themselves and others so often they can will it to be true.

I have not said any of this except for sweet summer child when I was watching Game of Thrones and thought the saying was funny

Gonna hard disagree about "yall" being included in the soy boy lexicon. "Yall" is perfectly acceptable to use when addressing friends and family and is commonly used in the south.

It got 'culturally appropriated' by the 100lb soaking wet, genderfluid, polyamorous, pink-haired, head half shaved, furry, champagne socialists from the Pacific Northwest, unfortunately.

I'm just turning this into the language quirks thread lol

Tired of seeing "BREAKING" on thread titles. I think it's completely unnecessary to state this in any news story. Take any headline with this up front, remove it, and tell me if the point of the item has been altered at all.

I hate this fucking word, I don't even know what it suppose to mean. Whole or some?? Makes zero fucking sense.

Yeah no, I agree with the list.

Wholesome is the word to use whenever someone who isn’t an adult cis white male does anything. Extra points if said act promotes diversity and representation of the downtrodden. Top billing if it involves toppling the patriarchy.

Where do NPC's get this shit?

It's from the Game of Thrones books (probably the show too) and it's used as a way of calling someone naive.

Not sure how it made it's way this deep into regular discourse. Probably just from dickhead book readers shoehorning it into every discussion about the show on Reddit etc.
