I am good with the paid seasons. It’s better than buying map packs that screws up the community. Battlefield has horrible campaigns so I don’t care honestly.
can't tell if satire or retarded. I pay $70 for the game, i don't get single player and i still have to pay for more additional shit? NahWhy? Paid seasons are good. You get what you pay for. They did away with Paid DLC for BFV and Battlefront 2 and look at how poorly it was supported.
BF1 had paid DLC and they got 20 maps in just over 18 months after launch. BFV and Battlefront got maybe 5-6 maps.
You cannot expect developers to make 20 massive maps for free. That's not how things work. You get what you pay for.
I would rather pay for high quality maps than F2P shit that doesnt get supported. how many maps have Fortnite and CoD Warzone gotten?
Your question only makes sense if the 2/3 you're leaving held any value to the person you're asking. Me personally I never played the campaigns cause that is not what Battlefield is to me and I always felt they hindered the multi-player portion of the game development wise which is where I put my personal value. That's not what I asked. I asked if you were willing to pay way more of way less value. I guess your answer is yes.
Seven maps at launch lol. They haven't learned from their mistakes, eh?
I could ask you how long before a typical player gets bored of playing on the same maps over and over again. Sure some people will love it and will spend a lot of time learning the maps and enjoying them, but I bet many people will treat BF2042 like another EA game that's missing more unique content in the launch version.
There is nothing retarded about the concept of paid DLC. What's retarded is expecting free shit just because you bought something for full price.can't tell if satire or retarded. I pay $70 for the game, i don't get single player and i still have to pay for more additional shit? Nah
Well, the lack of SP and the lackluster most recent installments most certainly have something to do with people's reactions. Can't really fault people for getting dissapointed by the prospect of paying to keep paying for a game that hasn't met the expectations for a long time. What is with all the people coming out of the woodwork being shocked that a AAA game made by a AAA company is being sold for a AAA price? Especially when it has ALWAYS been sold this way. It's not like it was F2P for all it's life and now out of nowhere it is a full priced game. CoD has the same business model and makes basically infinite money. Why would EA of all people not do the same thing in order to maximize profits off of one of it's most historically successful series.
It makes literally no sense to expect anything else. Where have you all been for the last 10 years as we watched this become the norm?
You don't have to pay for anything other than the game. Maps are included. So are guns. So are specialists. Literally the only thing you would pay for is the battle pass if you want the cosmetics.can't tell if satire or retarded. I pay $70 for the game, i don't get single player and i still have to pay for more additional shit? Nah
Fuk Battlepass. BF3 did not have it and it was fine! Not buying anymore.
I have no clue and I was wondering the same thing. I mentioned how the reaction reminds me of when everyone found out about 1942, UT, Q3 and other games being multiplayer only. But they were full price at the time. Some loved them, some didn't, but the majority clearly did. What is with all the people coming out of the woodwork being shocked that a AAA game made by a AAA company is being sold for a AAA price? No you had to buy the maps if I remember right. Which is WORSE than this because it cost more and divided the player base.Fuk Battlepass. BF3 did not have it and it was fine! Not buying anymore.
Recent installment* as in singular. BFV has been the only miss for them. Though it was a pretty big one tbf.Well, the lack of SP and the lackluster most recent installments most certainly have something to do with people's reactions. Can't really fault people for getting dissapointed by the prospect of paying to keep paying for a game that hasn't met the expectations for a long time.
Anyway, that aside, I bet this is free on gamepass within a couple months of 2022 tops. Won't do me any good but maybe it will hit PS+ too.
And finally, I wonder if EA is blowing an opportunity by not making it F2P. Sure it would be risky, but if they ever wanted to knock COD down from its perch, and soak up the Fortnite money stream, it is the only likely pathway.
Me. I loved the Battlefield 4 campaign. I enjoyed the missions in Battlefield 1 too. I won't be buying this oneOk let's be real, who play BF for the campaign ?
As for seasons, it's just another name for DLC's pack
You did, they were 5 different packs that were $15 a piece. Or you could get "BF3 Premium Service" that included all of them for $50 and you got to play them a bit earlier. No you had to buy the maps if I remember right. Which is WORSE than this because it cost more and divided the player base.
At least this time around you get all the stuff that matters for free with the game.
Yeah it makes no logical sense. If all you want is the game then it's $70 and that's it. You get all future core support items like maps, guns and specialists for free after that. If you want the cosmetics then you gotta buy them. You did, they were 5 different packs that were $15 a piece. I wholeheartedly agree. I think people are knee jerking and raging for the sake of raging IMO. The only thing that sucks IMO is the cost of modern AAA gaming, but it is what it is. At least on PC you can typically get those titles for a cheaper price.
I didn't realize BF1 was popular. I bought it day 1, tried to like it a bunch of times, and just couldn't get into it. None of my friends liked it either.Recent installment* as in singular. BFV has been the only miss for them. Though it was a pretty big one tbf.
BF1 was a hit and really popular with the player base. And before that they had 3 and 4 which are obviously they biggest hits of all.
lol, yeah BF3 had "Premium" which locked new DLC such as maps behind a paywall.Fuk Battlepass. BF3 did not have it and it was fine! Not buying anymore.
The maps and guns will be free. The paid seasons are for cosmetic content only.
How? It's priced like literally every other major AAA release.Still way overpriced.
Yuuuup. I mean, if you miss the campaigns, then yeah, I get it. I feel bad for you, that sucks.Yeah it makes no logical sense. If all you want is the game then it's $70 and that's it. You get all future core support items like maps, guns and specialists for free after that. If you want the cosmetics then you gotta buy them.
This is a MASSIVE improvement over "Premium".
Welp, that's just a problem with modern AAA game prices. Also a reason why I never bought Returnal. The idea of paying that much money for that style of game feels... odd to me. Which sucks, but it is what it is.Still way overpriced.
Oh yeah BF1 was great. I have more time in BF1 than I do any other entry aside from BF3. The gunplay was amazing and the setting felt like a huge change for the time.I didn't realize BF1 was popular. I bought it day 1, tried to like it a bunch of times, and just couldn't get into it. None of my friends liked it either.
Part 4 though - those were the days. I almost certainly invested more hours into part 4 than any other single iteration of a shooter last gen except for Fortnite (if you count it).
Games with paid seasons like Fortnite and now Destiny are free to play, That is clearly the market they are aiming toward. How? It's priced like literally every other major AAA release.
Or are you just saying games in general cost too much?
So just because you can play the same handful of maps over and over again for years on end suddenly that's "value"? If that's the case then Apex Legends and Fortnite are the best "value" games of all time.
What is with all the people coming out of the woodwork being shocked that a AAA game made by a AAA company is being sold for a AAA price? Especially when it has ALWAYS been sold this way. No campaign in BF2042 might be the best decision EA has ever made.
Fuck all the campaign-only Battlefield players - you are the reason the series has fallen off a cliff. Wasted resources.
BF started as MP only and stayed that way for years - not a coincidence those were the best games in the franchise.
As for paid seasons - thats a bad thing if its tied to maps. Modern Battlefield always split the playerbase between people who owned the maps and not - and when a premium map popped up, the servers emptied and died. It also made it tough to play with friends - managing who had the maps and who didnt.
Battlefield started as MP game only.Which back in the early days of BAttlefield were called expansions and were literally almost like playing a new game. What it is now is a grind fest to keep you into a service. There's a reason GTA V is the highest selling game ever, and thats because it was both.
The online was the online with giant groups and things to do, on top of custom communities.
Battlefield use to be just a multiplayer game with tons of mods/maps, and then would do worth while expansions. Now they want to drag it out and piece meal it.
I'll buy it on heavy discount.
CoD isn't. And it makes all the money in the world with every release. Why would Battlefield be any different?Games with paid seasons like Fortnite and now Destiny are free to play
Lol like a shitty 4 hours scripted campaign changes things? Now you really got your money worth.Well, the lack of SP and the lackluster most recent installments most certainly have something to do with people's reactions. Can't really fault people for getting dissapointed by the prospect of paying to keep paying for a game that hasn't met the expectations for a long time.

You don't need to buy it for the maps.
Are cosmetics that important to you?
I disagree with basically all of this, but where did they say there was no destruction?Times have changed, BF has basically no trump card nowadays - 128 players doesn't shock anyone today, at all, it was something big when MAG arrived, but not today. Massive maps, same deal, done to death. No destruction, just like every other shooter out there. Really, there are multiple F2P games that offer 90% experience of modern BF games. And actually seeing how many people are on that trailer and how few vehicles, all that on even bigger maps, I'm afraid the gameplay will be more dull and boring than ever, with even more walking from A to B instead of actually fighting with other players. So again, it's very possible that all those F2P BR games with their shrinking maps will not only offer more or less the same gameplay experience, but will be also way more action packed. And again, all of that for free. Even the yearly CoDs have harder and harder times to keeping up since Warzone launched, let amone franchise that's on a serious downhill for years. But you're right, one thing hasn't change at all throughout all thise years, EA is as usuall talking about DLCs before even showing the game itself.
Thank you! I never played through the campaigns as BF is meant for multiplayer.
You know what you are right. In the past, you would have been able to unlock those cosmetics for free.
GHG just now realizing that fun is value.
BF primarily MP game.70$, no campaign and paid seasons, will wait for garbage bin sale
You can play Warzone without buying the latest CoD though.CoD isn't. And it makes all the money in the world with every release. Why would Battlefield be any different?
Also Destiny is not free to play. You have to buy the expansions. So that's not a good example. Apex would be a better one. I'll give you fortnite though.
But this is going to have more polish and effort put into it than either of those F2P games and the future updates will be free. So I don't mind paying full price for it.
They stated that maps, guns and gameplay stuff is free. There is also a free version of each battlepass that will include "some" cosmetics. I have no idea if the specialists are free or not. Waiting for confirmation.
Correct. With 2042 they've also said there WILL be a F2P and Crossplay component that they'll talk about at a later date. So I'm expecting something similar, just not a BR as they've said they're not touching BR.You can play Warzone without buying the latest CoD though.
And? It's a battle royale. You can play Warzone without buying the latest CoD though.
I disagree with basically all of this, but where did they say there was no destruction?
