Basically.

Yup.

Wasn't 2.0 literally just finalized? I can't imagine they'd have it ready to go for the first production batch. Additionally, I highly doubt FW would fix that.

Depends on how they're doing it.

But selling a 4k editing machine that might well not have enough bandwidth to even *display* the full colour gamut in yet to be agreed video standards like 4k is... nuts.

What, do you expect Apple to build a bunch of factories and fabricate the parts themselves? I don't see how you can slight them for this. The parts required are simply not manufactured in the United States.

Then what's the point of the 'Assembled in USA' tagline? It's misleading really.

What are you basing any of that on?

Misleading to people who don't know what assembled means.

Sony launched new TVs last month and they've said they will be releasing a firmware update that will bring full 2.0 functionality to them. Major manufacturers have already know what the final spec will be for a while now.

I bet you someone has snorted fat rails off that new MacPro.

The HDMI is just a secondary output -- the main video output is Thunderbolt (i.e. DisplayPort). Or are you just concerned about secondary output to a TV?

That is crazy

Everything is free

Jesus Christ everything is free - and they are rushing through all these amazing news + features.
I wish more people are actually using iWork though

I'd like to see ms make an equivalent mac pro for Windows users.
They wouldn't. They'd have to stuff it full of legacy expansions and stuff and it'd be so much bigger. No way would they not have space for actual HDD's or an SD card slot on the front and a DVD drive.
