VITA NEW MODEL Announced with built in 1GB memory!!

This is gonna be sold alongside the OG Vita, right? It won't replace it, RIGHT!?

If it's cheaper to manufacture with this different screen (plus other revisions), then you can bet they will market this one as a priority and leave shops to sort out their own existing stock of the original. I doubt there will be much emphasis on manufacturing more of the original if this is the case. I'm sure they'll still make them to an extent, but it'll be reduced surely.

Thank god they removed that awful OLED screen.

As much as I love the OLED screen, I am interested to see what the LCD looks like. If it is a really nice LCD I think I would be willing to trade the OLED for more battery and a lighter/thiner Vita.

The built in memory means I'll pretty much get this. 1GB may not be much, but it means I can get the console first and hunt down a cheap big memory card later.

It clearly means "I'm easily sold by marketing terms" :P
Lol, ask to any vita owner if it's only marketing.

Calling it 'awful' is a bit much - it's stunning in well-lit environments. But it is not without flaws, some of which are significant to some people, including myself.
Ok, i can understand this, but you are not passing from the oled to something better, but from the oled to lcd that is generally inferior no matter what, i don't see any reason to be so happy about it.
You don't expect a very high quality lcd(still inferior to oled) on a cheap vita revision right?

I think I'd rather go for an older model. Screen downgrade is a big no no for me. Shame I like just about everything else though :/

Any idea if this will even be coming westward?

You jest, but it's an ignorant viewpoint you have there.

All I'll say about this is that OLED is obscenely overrated
You're the kind of people that are ruining display technology. The companies producing displays see this kind of shit and think it's OK to continue producing sub-par LCDs. It annoys me greatly.

If my TV were to die today there would be literally nothing I could replace it with that would make me happy. The display industry is TRASH today and it's due in part to ignorant consumers.

Yeah, I don't feel like I'm missing much as an early adopter. I bought mine for $200, 1GB of onboard storage is pathetic--I'm sure installed data from physical games would eat that up--and rather like the OLED screen. It looks like it loses as much as it gains without much of a price difference in the bargain.

Much more interesting to me is the 64GB card. I'd love to have one...but considering that they thought cutting the 32GB to $80 was significant, I could easily see it retailing for something like $150 here.

The Vita TV device looks intriguing as well. That essentially makes the device Sony's answer to the Ouya and the like--particularly when mobile games are supported through Playstation Mobile. Will be interesting to see where that goes.

Always wait for the revision with Nintendo handhelds because they usually improve it dramatically.

Always get the first version of a Sony handheld (or regular console) because they will usually downgrade it dramatically

Has Sony announced or even hinted its coming to the West? And is the Vita still glossy or does it have a matte finish?

Sorry Mr. Elite. Cry some more please.

I even like the 3DS screen better than my Vita screen. I'm happy they are going back to LCD. Now all the remains is the quality.

Well, honestly, I didn't like the over saturated colours on the OLED, so this is no big loss for me personally, but obviously these kinds of things can be very subjective.

Also, LCDs can be pretty great these days, and it will be easier to see the screen when the sun shines.

OK, after looking this up, I'll give you this. Hate screen burn-in, and it, along with input lag, is one of the main reason's I'm never buying another Plasma TV. Now I'll wait for the new model Vita.

It's the only reason why I said it. Had a friend with the burn in issue on his Vita. It's why I've been waiting for a hardware revision but I'm buying a VitaTV now.
