Haha, definitely some weird cats on that forum.

I'm browsing it now and there's a topic about the gameplay video. Like four posts in I get:

lmfao. Like...what??
Haha, this is Zee, a major troll over there. He doesn't like Rockstar anymore and thinks they are lazy and only drinking whiskey all day long. But his posts are mostly for a good laugh.
Hmmm, I thought Zee was banned on GTAF?

This thread wants me to replay GTA IV, GTA Episodes from Liberty City and RDR.. in that order..

Haha, seriously. I remember the Red Dead ones getting me really excited. And how great the narrator was. Especially when watching the very first one they put out.

"Rockstar Games set out to capture the essence of the West in their first open-world game set in a rural environment."

*pause for effect*

"Red Dead Redemption."

That guy could tell me that I've contracted a particularly virulent strain of tertiary syphilis that's eating through my genitals like a pack of wild dogs on a bag of chips... and I'd still be hyped.

This thread is making me consider getting Dark Souls, Red Dead and Vanquish instead of Animal Crossing. Haven't played ANY of them yet. =/

Haha, totally.

I really hope this is the start of one of those series. Will be interesting to see what each one covers since we've never had one for GTA.

I'd love something on the radio. Like a hint at a station or something, maybe a quick clip of a talk radio station while the guy playing for the video is driving.

Also, I'm listening to some cyberpunk-esque music (http://arcneon.bandcamp.com/album/blood-sport-2092) and it reminded me of Nightride FM. Hopefully that turns out to be a real station.

What are you doing here? You miss out on the best games this generation. Go and get these games you loon. GO!!!

Just buy Red Dead and Animal Crossing. Problem solved, you don't need those other games.

Don't listen to this uneducated advice and get all the games you mentioned. You will have the gaming experience of your life with them. Especially with Dark Souls.

Okay okay I'll consider it. Animal Crossing is pulling me though. Back to GTA V - normally I'm not that excited for GTA games but this one is surely my most wanted this year.

Gotdamn, those Red Dead videos were like getting a fix. I felt like "This is everything I've ever wanted in a game" with every update. Then it delivered so hard on release. It was like the epitome of the "videogame hype cycle + amazing final product." That kind of satisfaction is so rare for me.

Then there was Max Payne 3 which was on the same road until it crashed and burned when I tried to replay the game. That was like the ultimate "LESSON LEARNED" in terms of getting too hyped. Thankfully cutscenes can't ruin GTAV.........or so I hope.

I didn't play Max Payne, why did the cutscenes ruin it?

I didn't play Max Payne, why did the cutscenes ruin it?

Because there's around 6 million of them and you can't skip a lot of them. You walk 3 feet and another cutscene start, walk 5 feet and another cutscene.

It's the most obtuse game I've played in years.

Really is a shame since the core gameplay, gunplay and the mechanics are fantastic.

The game has four hours of cutscenes and you can't skip them on replays or in arcade mode. Some people managed to prove that a lot of them don't actually hide loading at all, Rockstar just didn't give you the option to skip them.

GTA thread w/o assets goes 5 pages full of hype and bitching

The message board equivalent of the shit I put up with fap picture.

:jnc

Well, you can't skip some of them. Usually a fat one in the middle of a level. Did someone actually prove they don't hide loading? Source?

Since this is the biggest complaint levelled at MP3, that tells you how good the gameplay is. :)

What time is the trailer (GMT)? I'm too lazy to Google :P

Don't know why, but i'm hoping for directional indicators on the cars :)

Yes! Fuck if this isn't in, jesus christ Rockstar, just code in a flashing indicator 3 seconds BEFORE a goddamn random lane change when I'm doing 150mph on the freeway :(

I need to pass the time with an assinine question to the GAF:

Who is your favourite GTA character (including NPCs)?
Boy, that's a tough one.

My favourites are sort of random. Three that always come to mind are Ken Rosenberg from Vice City, Gay Tony from GTA IV and Mike Toreno from San Andreas. Some great dialogue and voice over performances with all three characters.

edit: and Toni Cipriani. Michael Madsen was perfect in that role.

I can't remember his name, but the main villain from The Lost and Damned. Voice acting was just so good, and he had this polarizing aura about him throughout the game.

Billy Grey. Yeah, he was an interesting one. I wish TLAD had been drawn out a bit more.

I really really really wish they would do a surprise cross gen version announcement during this trailer.

I know it won't happen.

But it would be such great news.

This video shows a guy loading a level from Chapter Select in about seven seconds, versus playing through the game until he reaches the cutscene that precedes that level and being unable to skip the cutscene. It goes for about three and a half minutes and doesn't let him skip it at any point, saying 'STILL LOADING' every time he presses the button.

Granted, it's just one cutscene, I don't know if they're all like that, but it's still pretty damning.

Ah, fair enough then. I'm not technically minded, but is there not some computery explanation for it being easier to load a level straight up fresh as opposed to loading from a previous one?

Maybe? I honestly have no idea either. I'd guess Rockstar must have had some reason for them being unskippable beyond just being proud of their work or, I don't know, forgetting to flip the 'make them skippable' switch. I don't think any of their previous games had unskippable cutscenes.
