Still Alive
It did look very nice, but I can't be inspired by the actual gameplay.
A shooter is a shooter, no matter how many rope climbing and jumping and awesome-but-scripted scenes you throw in there. No shooter can 'wow' you anymore unless it is mechanically deeply deviated from being a shooter, or the setting is so unique it makes it interesting.

Still, looks like it will shape up to be an awesome launch title shooter to have.

Can somebody please get a nice screen capture of the very end when they show the two sides of the wall?

To clarify, this takes place after the events of KZ3. The Helghast citizens took refuge on Vetka but of course they didn't want to put them in direct contact with everyone else so they built a giant wall to separate them. This game will take place in two very distinct locations. The Vetkan side of the wall where everything is bright, shiny, and sleek, and the Helghast side of the wall where everything is dark and dreading just like KZ2.

How do you know the Helghast have taken refuge on Vekta? This is not something that happened in KZ3

Dat ignorance, stunning. Those are direct captures.

Dude just stop, you always do this.

You talk about stuff you don't understand or misinterpret or misread or just ape from hearing others say it.

These are not direct captures, the image quality is impeccable.
What source, pray tell, are these from then? I want to see this lossless video with monster image quality.

It definitely looked very nice but its still Killzone. A franchise that isn't a System seller. Hope Sony has more. They need something fierce at launch.

that was fuckin insane, so futuristic, I literally choked on that first bit showing city from dropship, I'm in awe @ art direction

PS4, better than jesus

Also, the intro speech he gave before showing the game demo, I get the feeling this one will be more story and emotional/power struggle based. Reminds me of Palestine/Israel with the dividing wall, occupation etc.

The guerilla guy likened it to the Berlin wall, it's an interesting set up for sure.

bish gets all the credit :)
It looks like an adult god-tier Ratchet and Clank Future.

Hopefully they look at KZ2 instead of 3 when designing.

I think you guys forget how amazing the image quality in the last 2 Killzone games have been. There is no reason to doubt these shots because they managed it before on 512MB.

Well I am willing to concede if someone can show me otherwise and afaik, wouldn't Sony themselves have the original content for the direct feed for the rest of the world to see and select from there? I was hoping that the time for bullshots were coming to a close given that I can see hints of aliasing even in those shots.

Oh and for the record I am very cognizant of the term "bullshot" in its meaning as described in these forums.

There should be more tampons in gaming
DID ANYONE NOTICE: that at the end of the trailer, the protagonist was on the fringe of the two territories. Didn't notice it because the trailer was moving so fast but the Gifs running the same scene over and over, I noticed the Helghan flags and the most industrial and grungy design that accompanies the Helghast. That's why there was a stand off at the end. Also loved the moving parts of the weapon that was meant for different combat situations.

Anyone notice the gun was dual function? That part where he snipes the dude and then goes back to SMG mode.

Seems like launch platform is extended outwards when switching to the sniping mode and requires shots to be charged before firing. Since it appeared to be a midsection shot that killed we can guess that this is a 1 hit kill weapon. Pretty cool how he slides the launch platform back into the main section of the weapon when switching back to the full auto mode.

Really nice detail there, also cool too how its running dual optics with the holographic sights as the standard "iron sights" and the scope for when you switch to the sniping mode. Really well done.

sounded like they copy-pasted brink.

I wasn't too impressed by it. Things look better, but everything was just cosmetic. The whole gunshot, facestab yawned me. It's was needlessly provocative. I could care less about the chick who got shot, why are you showing us that? These people are evil, i get it, they have red glowing eyes, nothing with red glowing eyes ever turn out good, no need for the execution shot.

Graphically it just felt like I've already seen it all, it's such an unispired setting. Mirrors edge/brink vs Killzone more or less. All this potential in creating a new and interesting world and you waste it going down the same road we've seen 100 times before.

Apparently if it's an fps and you shoot things it's immediately generic and just "shootbang", whatever the hell that means, I guess that's supposed to be a diss, I'm not sure. Never mind the fact everyone looses their shit for a game like Ni No Kuni which doesn't advance the genre at all, and you know what? That's totally fine, as long as the experience is good.

Funny how FPS's have been around for over three console generations and this is the day, the PS4 reveal, that they go "oh BOOO! another FPS that plays like an FPS!".

Amazing.

I really didn't like what Jonathan Blow was showing off, i'll just get that out of the way.

The Helghast ghetto. For Helghan refugees.

So does anybody know how the Hellghast are in a position to attack the ISA again?

I didn't play KZ3, but last I heard they were on the back foot :/

I understand that but why would the Vektans share their home world with the Higs? They are mortal enemies

My god the visuals are astonishing

The ISA nuked Helghan in KZ3. In the trailer it says the ISA regret what happened there and as a way of trying to rid themselves of the guilt they created this city. Then there is a faction in the Helghast that want revenge even though ISA showed some compassion towards them.

Because they were originally Vektans? I mean look at the world we live in now for example. All of the nations who were separated between Axis and Allies are living together for the most part even though having been locked in combat for 6 years.

Just because you are enemies during a time of war does not mean one cannot live together after said conflict ends over time.

Not that hard of a concept to understand if you compare it to our own history.

ISA grunt on the left is holding one. Shazzam.

With the weapon the guy in the demo is using I was under the impression he had grabbed it from the hig who he gave a new breathing orifice to lol. Would make sense an infiltrator has that type of weapon seeing how its appears to be not as loud as the other type of firearms and can also be used for long range engagements.

Man...seeing this is what PS4 is capable of with "mid-range" 2012 GPU....
It is sad to think that PC was held back big time with those PS3/360 ports for ages.
We are going to see some massive jump in IQ next year finally.

Looks incredible, though I have to admit when I heard the name I was excited at the thought that we might get some kind of spinoff that deviated from the standard scripted setpiece-laden experience.

“Killzone Shadow Fall” takes place thirty years after the events of “Killzone 3.” The world has undergone radical changes and is a very different place from what it was. Two rival factions live side-by-side in a futuristic city divided only by a wall. The two factions are the Helghast and the Vektans. With tensions mounting, the cold war the two are involved in is about to get hot.

Players will assume the role of a Shadow Marshal – a member of an elite Special Forces group that is tasked with the duty of maintaining the delicate balance between the two nations."

Wow, so Rico and Sev are pretty much geezers in this game?

I really don't know how to feel about that.

Hopefully we'll know what happens to those characters 30 years later. Maybe Sev was considered a Hero and became the president?

Basically,
The Helghast army was never completely decimated. The ISA remaining just wanted to prevent an attack on Vekta and Earth while they were stuck on Helghan. They did that, defeating the major generals of the army. Or so it seemed. At the end, someone walks out of an escape pod and is greeted by two Helghast elite guards. It was never revealed who it was.

Yeah I thought it was pretty clear, especially when you got the Helghast bots on one side and the ISA bots on the other side whilst he was in between.

DUBBED!

Day 1 for me too. I'm very excited to see more of this game, especially how it'll change when it ships.

X!! We definitely got to get games with all of when this beast comes out.

Helghan was made unlivable after KZ3. The ISA is trying to rid the guilt of their actions by creating this city.

I hope the Vektan city is destroyed gradually during the game. It would be epic to see the city crumble during the game.

Good it means a whole new cast and hopefully no more Rico.

Perhaps they'll also go back to the original killzone design plan and have just one giant scripted event per level that dynamically changes the gameplay.
If they're going to have constant scripted events they might as well just throw in lasers so they can have their hands outstretched to both pioneers.

the nature of graphics development is cyclical. High-end PC's provide roadmaps for software and hardware, consoles provide optimization for hardware and software. One without the other means progress would be stifled. PC benefits from consoles more then you might think.
