Also fans of Sci-fi should really check out The Immortals of Terra: A Perry Rhodan. A few years old but though I'd mention it in the most active genre thread right now. Great universe, well-made point and click that is one of my favorites:

Daedalic employs around 70 people right now and they usually have two larger projects going on at one time (as developers).

All the dubbing and sound stuff is outsourced.

Since they added an extra scene to the BASS re-mastered there had always been rumours they were going to revisit it. Sure Dave Gibbons expressed interest and said he would do it when they could both sit down and he could still contribute the art.
Would love it if BASS 2 appeared one day, it's firmly up there for me personally, game and story stuck with me.
Maybe BASS 2 kickstarter in 2013, 2014 release just in time for it's 20th Anniversary, would be fitting.

I've got to agree on Perry Rhodan. Probably the last adventure i've played that made a good impression on me. After finishing the game, i remember being excited for further games in the universe but sadly it seems all development has stopped.

It's been a while since i played it, but iirc the game looked fantastic at times. I loved the sci-fi setting and the atsmophere.

I just bought the game thanks to the recommendations here, but I can't seem to play the game. I install it just fine (Windows 7 64), but when I try to start it it says "you need to run it as admin the fist time" (or something like that anyway). Of course I am admin, but even if I right-click and chose "run as admin" it says the same thing. Turns out it's a problem with TAGES (fucking copy protection I' m telling ya). So I have to manually download this pos sofware to make the game get one step further. Problem now is they want me to register the game online with a key. There is no key to be foud anywhere in the box. So copy protection literally won't allow me to play the game that I legitimately bought.

Any ideas as what to do? I tried finding a no-cd crack, but everyone says it makes the game crash constantly so that's not gonna help.

Suggestions are always welcome, I will add them onto here.
Also I started a collection on steam too, if people want to have it all in the one place, there are other types of games on there too like RPG's, platformers etc.

The same publisher also put up a few other adventure games, including Black Mirror 2 and 3. Wish the first was there as I've never played any of them and hate jumping into the middle of the series.

It's so weird that dtp has to go through Greenlight. Imagine if Valve made Activision do it for Black Ops 2? Almost seems unfair anyway.

Always thought it was odd Gray Matter never got a Steam release, especially with the Jane Jensen ties, her name alone should have pushed it forward. Probably more to do with the type of game Valve wanted on their service at the time, possibly.
Looks like The Black Mirror was published by another company, they probably still own the rights to the first game as its never been re-released from what I can see.

And this is where Valve will gain more power and influence in the industry - forcing established developers to compete with indie titles for distribution access to their platform.

edit - more appropriate for the Greenlight thread, and I don't want to derail the conversation, but I'll leave the comment up anyways.

I've played the last 2 and they're strictly okay. Not bad but not great either. The Runaway games are pretty old and I've heard bad things about their writing. If you've never played any Pendulo game before, I'd suggest picking up one of them and seeing if you like their style. They have amazing artwork but I'm told a lot of the essence of the games are lost in localization.

And now it's my turn to ask the same question about the Sherlock Holmes pack.. are they worth playing?

For that price, sure, they're worth picking up if you like adventure games. They're decent enough; just don't expect classic LucasArts quality. The localization can be pretty awkward (Pendulo is Spanish, I believe), but the hand drawn graphics are quite attractive.

tl;dr Good for the price, just set your expectations appropriately.

I'm excited for Double Fine's 'The Cave'.

Which is ironically the obscure adventure game that they got funding for by a Publisher before starting the Kickstarter for Double Fine Adventure Game, where they pitched that it was impossible to find publisher support for obscure adventure games. :)

(Not really a point and click adenture game, but I think its concept is really similar to the legendary Maniac Mansion, and it is Ron Gilbert's game.

I'm playing through Secret Files: Tunguska at the moment, and although it received mediocre reviews, I'm still enjoying it. So I'll probably enjoy those games too especially at those prices.

My wife and I played through The Next Big Thing. It wasn't the best Point and Click we've ever played, but it was pretty good.

EDIT: Caved on Summerbatch. I don't thin my wife will want to play a lot of these, but they'll keep me entertained.

Gamersgate is having a Halloween sale that includes some lesser known horror games (mostly PnC adventures) for peanuts. A lot of these aren't on Steam at all so it's a good spot to find games you might not find out about otherwise. GG's install process is a few more clicks than Steam but not troublesome, just download a small.exe that downloads and installs the game automatically. I have not played most of these but they look interesting and I bought a few unseen:
