The stuff about bombarding the mistress with thousands of emails is pretty pathetic. Guess a few months of banging an 8-9 will do that to you after 37 years with Mrs Doubtfire. Just sad to see a career such as his end so stupidly. If it wasn't for Petraeus and his unique counterinsurgency tactics Iraq may have been a second Vietnam for America. The guy is the most intelligent and successful American commander since WW 2. Now he's just like any other old hound desperately chasing a bit of skirt.

I don't find it as sad and pathetic as some others; I mean, at least I can imagine the circumstances under which it happened. Both him and the woman seen like genuinely "good" guys. They work closely together, they notice the high bar that each sets for him and herself, they admire the passion with which each serves his and her country, they respect the hell out of each other -- all of these strong emotions must have hormones working overtime. I guess there's only so much the human body can handle.
Off-topic, but I wonder how working with certain chemicals acting constantly affects a person's body physically (not talking about affairs). Like, if a nurse works in delivery, and she's constantly around babies, doesn't that constantly activate some chemical? Estrogen? I know high levels of estrogen can have negative effects. Would this be such a case?

Also you are wrong, I am advocating that the man in charge of the C.I.A should be able to not get caught. I also said that what he did was bad.
Since you are not able to understand. Having an extra marital affair for his position = bad. Being someone who can get caught in that = also bad and indicated possible more reckless behavior. It is a lose lose position but in my post I said that I cared more for the later.

Aside from the 40 odd year timespan between their respective directorships, I'm not sure the positions at the top of the cia and fbi are really comparable. One is going to handle more matters of national security and delicate foreign policy than the other, making the potential to be compromised by infidelity worse in the cia post.

Broadwell isn't bad looking, she seems to have a toned body, but I wouldn't go as far as calling her an 8 or a 9.
Petraeus is worse looking than her, I'm not attracted to men, but he's probably average at best, but considering his fame and status, I'm sure he could do better than her if he tried.
I saw an old picture of his wiife Holly on TV, from back when he was still at West Point. Of course she was much better looking 37 years ago.

That is cruel I am sure she looked better when she was younger. This whole thing seems like the plot of an episode of covert affairs. I wonder if this is the only woman he's cheated on his wife with? It seems with these types of cheating scandals lately theirs always more than one woman. Though it seems he may have actually liked this one quite a bit that is what got him caught.

What I wonder is since when does the FBI get involved over someone receiving "harassing emails" when said person is not a family member of a government official, nor a government official?

I think the Atlantic had an article talking about someone trying to gain access to Petraeus' Gmail account. I didn't read the article linked just now and whether it mentions it, but that would seem to be enough to get the fbi involved.
