Hadn't really considered that, but I wouldn't call that a conspiracy or such. Just a simple political maneuver. Happens all the time from all walks of politics.

Fair point. Also I could understand Patreaus himself withholding this information/resignation in order to avoid making a big story before the election, but we know now that the ball wasn't in his hands.

Reports also say Obama didn't want him to resign but ultimately consented after a day of discussion/debate with his staff

Honestly look at this pic people talking about how his wife looks, he's not a looker either. Looks like gollum.

He looks like what that guy from 30 Rock would look like in 40 years.

She just posted an article about him on Monday. Kinda kills the whole conspiracy of the this being covered up till now

LMAO @ the recent comments

15. Shooting outside is better than shooting inside."

hahaha.

Paula Broadwell is married with two kids. Petraeus has been married for 37 years. What a waste

Agreed. I like Petraeus, I have a lot of respect for the man, but if this is true then he's not the man I thought he was. What a waste.

Although watching her Daily Show interview now, knowing this, really puts her answers, facial expressions, and body language into a whole new light, lol.

There's like a million different forms of cheating.

Not all of it will be based on looks. Like attraction in general. So who knows? I sure as fuck don't wanna. This is between him and his wife. Potentially national security as well. I'd rather not be privy to the intimate details of the affair.

Rapture Ready:
Knowing Petraeus was to testify next week, Barry or one of his surrogate thugs gave him a script for his testimony. Petraeus said he wouldn't do it; he'd have to tell the truth. They then threatened to expose his affair to the world and he said, "Go ahead" -- he wouldn't let them get away with their extortion.

Head of CIA caught cheating... now that is just funny. The guy knows all sorts of secrets and spies on people all over the world and get's taken down by being caught doing something so stupid.

Just go along with it. He will be teaching at Princeton in no time.

If you look up Holly Petraeus, you'd understand.

The Hotness Gap is simply too large.

Must have been an affair with a man.

That's my guess as to why this is such a "big deal" enough for him to resign.

edit: Oh I guess not.

I think one of two things were going to happen. Either he was going to be blackmailed or he wants to run away with his mistress. :O

Watching CNN, apparently Broadwell broke it off with Petraeus. But Petraeus continued to pursue Broadwell, sending up to a thousand emails in a span of 3 months.

That is a vulnerable position to be in, especially for someone with his security clearance.

His wife looks like Chris Farley in a wig.

wow...

He can kiss his biggest ambitions goodbye. He'll make a lot of money and be respected again but...this is just crazy.

Good. I don't really care where he puts his dick in, although in the position he was, it was a bad thing but still the biggest issue is if he can't keep that hidden and undiscovered then he deserves to resign from the position as head of the CIA.

Petraeus was treated for prostate cancer maybe two or three years ago. I mean, I don't mean to be insensitive here ... but maybe he joined the CIA just to gain access on some classified boner pills?

Yes, we need all of our politicians and leaders of clandestine organizations to be better liars.

Yes the C.I.A purpose is to keep things hidden and someone who is a not good at doing this is unqualified. And no don't be dense, that does not refer to all of your politicians. One of the reason to keep things hidden is to avoid blackmail, hidden refers not necessarily hidden from the public alone, obviously.

That daily show interview with her is AMAZING in hindsight.

Paula Broadwell = "Yes, he's a very high energy person, and I think he does gain energy by thinking that he's consequential and that he's making a difference...."

man

everything there sounds like a double entendre of some sort

"And he, to get to know him, he wanted to run with you. So you ran together."
"This is the typical mechanism he uses to get to know young people, he's done it all his life... I thought I was gonna test him but he was gonna test me. It got to be kind of a test for both of us because we both ran pretty quickly. But that was the foundation for our (pause) relationship.."

Seriously watch this:

It's FUCKING AMAZING.

Somebody said it, but it's like Stewart knows and is actually talking about something else.

"So integrity's running in the whole family, I guess."

FUCK.

Holy fuck, read this and tell me it doesn't sound like Broadwell's husband.

MY WIFE’S LOVER
My wife is having an affair with a government executive. His role is to manage a project whose progress is seen worldwide as a demonstration of American leadership. (This might seem hyperbolic, but it is not an exaggeration.) I have met with him on several occasions, and he has been gracious. (I doubt if he is aware of my knowledge.) I have watched the affair intensify over the last year, and I have also benefited from his generosity. He is engaged in work that I am passionate about and is absolutely the right person for the job. I strongly feel that exposing the affair will create a major distraction that would adversely impact the success of an important effort. My issue: Should I acknowledge this affair and finally force closure? Should I suffer in silence for the next year or two for a project I feel must succeed? Should I be “true to my heart” and walk away from the entire miserable situation and put the episode behind me? NAME WITHHELD

Not really surprising. Afaik having high security clearance means you cannot have any secrets that can be leveraged against you. Extramarital affairs would be one of these things.

Yep, that video is very interesting now. If you watch her when Jon makes that comment about integrity in her family, she flinches hardcore, her smile immediately goes away, and she even pulls back. Her body language is almost giving it away if you really pay attention to her throughout the interview.

Kill innocent Pakistani children in indiscriminate drone strikes under his watch? Par for the course!

Extramarital affair? Welp, time to resign.

Love this guy.

hmm after some thought, I've finally connected the dots.

Obama didn't want Petraeus to testify on BENGHAZI, fearing the administration sinking secrets that could be spilled. So he ordered Patraeus to unzip his pants and cheat on his wife, giving justifiable grounds for termination. I'm probably not the first to reach this conclusion, but I think I just blew my mind.
