Playstation All Stars Battle Royale Discussion thread [Up: Leakfest #11]

I was only listing a few because I didn't want to list them all. Yes, Sweet Tooth, Drake and Kratos all seem to be in there for promotional purposes.
Though you're right that these characters maybe should be in there anyway, it is Big Daddy and the rumored Bond that make me feel like Sony is approaching this from a marketing perspective rather than a "what's fun" one.
What's the problem with Big Daddy? The first Bioshock was ported over to the PS3 well after it had been released on their biggest competitor's platform as a semi-console exclusive. Should Commander Shepard from Mass Effect be in the game, too?
Parappa is the only one that says "hey, let's have fun with our history," so far. I am hoping that we'll see some more like that, and not "hey, there's a Bond game coming out soon, right? Get Activision on the phone and let's seal this deal!"
Would you only be satisfied with PSone characters then?
Sweet Tooth has been on every PlayStation console (aside from the four-month old Vita). Twisted Metal is actually the oldest surviving PlayStation franchise, so he has to be there. This is also coming from a guy who has a signed Sweet Tooth figure sitting on his editing desk.
Drake is the biggest mascot Sony has currently along with Kratos. Expect Sackboy to join them too, as they're the biggest icons the brand has. I'd say their priority is game first, cross-promotion second when it comes to these characters. There's an obligation to include Kratos, Sackboy, Drake, etc.
I personally think Big Daddy was a great pick and that showing him off would beg the question over what other third-party characters would show. If you're looking to poke holes in the game's roster then I can see where you'd come away from his announcement as a bit cash-driven, but you can't deny the recognition that the Big Daddy brings.
And, again, Bond is only a lightly rumored character. I mean, I've only heard about Bond supposedly being in the game on this thread and nowhere else, so I wouldn't dwell on it.

Probably Big Daddy, because I like heavy characters a lot of the time. Drake with his zipline and cover mechanics seems fun too.
I really like picturing Kratos taking on a Big Daddy. There's also a lot of nostalgia-driven smiles coming from the thought of Sweet Tooth and Drake playing cooperatively in the rumored campaign mode.

Cool, first time I've seen the Little Sister move. I also like how the menu backgrounds look like the default PS3 XMB "wave" BG.
It would be cool if they incorporated the PS2 startup effect in the UI too.
You just ruined my co-op dreams of Drake and Sweet Tooth fighting back to back.

If Sweet Tooth isn't the final boss of Drake's Arcade mode, they missed a golden opportunity there.
Yeah, I think we've already said it but it would be awesome if they'd use the original PS1 start up when you start the game.
They shoudl have the legend of dragoon menu music in the charter selection.
I'd rather see the PSone logo and startup sound, myself.
I just watched and saw that Little Sister appearance you were talking about. It's a cute way of incorporating here- good work. I'm willing to bet Jak & Ratchet have similar cameos with their respective second bananas.

The villain accuses him of not being Drake's descendant.
It's nice to see you can disable stage hazards in this game. That's something that I wanted Smash to do.

The thing about UC3 is that it was mentioned once and then NEVER TALKED ABOUT AGAIN. You could even have the argument that she used it to demoralize him. I still wonder if it's even true. That's what I meant, that this actually makes it true?
Talked about in Uncharted 1. Wasn't the whole game about Sir Francis Drake, in fact?

I think he's focusing on the "claims to be" part, which was in UC3. In all the UCs they talk about Francis Drake though.

Are you sure? I always assumed he claimed to be his descendant. I mean, even in the first line from Wikipedia on the plot of Drake's Fortune, it says:
I could be wrong, but I could have sworn it was talked about.
Elena says to Nathan that Drake didn't have any children in the first Uncharted game. So he's always "claimed to be a descendant of Sir Francis Drake." I guess we assumed he knew something we didn't until Uncharted 3
I don't recall it ever being questioned until UC3 though.
Oh, I forgot that part. I always thought it was a little revisionist history until UC3 though.

So the recent reveal was obviously PS3 era icons. What will the next be? I'm assuming they're going with single platforms for each addition/reveal. I just hope they have some more unique and or random characters, and preferably some awesome chick characters, but not Lara Croft.

, I'll probably play with them the most. I loved those games on the ps3 and they are just great characters with lots of potential moves. From the current roster though, I'd probably go for Sweet Tooth or Big Daddy.

Lil poll here: since Snake is pretty much confirmed would you want him to be Solid, Naked or Old? I think I'm in a minority here but I'd totally take Old Snake. MGS4 ain't my favourite of the series but I think Old Snake is just so unique and interesting when it comes to main characters in games.

This game really improved as the show went along to me. Now my newly bought Vita (yay!) will get another game this holiday. If they make it as close to SSB as possible I would be so happy as someone who doesn't own nintendo stuff anymore.

That would be ideal. They could do cool skins for Kratos too, and blue fat princess with brown hair is another obvious one.
