Oh, you.
i guess i was wrong. monolithsoft apparently has quite a bit of talent.
Oh, you.
AniHawk actively dislikes the Metroid Prime series. Not hard to see how he'd dislike Retro, then.
Good design principles transcend genres and franchises. Always have.
GPUs with that much juice have been available for years now. They're cheap at retail too. I don't expect it to happen but "completely out of the question?" No way, have to disagree on that one.

so do bad ones, apparently.
metroid prime was pretty good at the technical stuff. it looked good, sounded great, and everything kinda worked all together pretty well. it's just boring to actually play.
Have you ever done a detailed post/thread about why you don't like the Prime games, Anihawk? I'd love to read that.
They may be a little on the high side for power draw and heat dissipation for thesis far given dimensions of the system, no?
this is about as close as it gets
i had just finished replaying the game, so my thoughts are pretty jumbled, but they're also based on the most recent memories.
there was also this thread i was viewing/posting in while i replayed the game.
Prime 1 was great IMO. It was around Prime 3 that they lost it when they tried too hard to please the action FPS crowd. Metroid was mostly about the solitude and atmosphere.this is about as close as it gets

Isn't this Cynthia Gordon chick working at Nintendo now?
Oh, definitely- at 40nm. Nobody said the case was final or that it couldn't be on a smaller process though.
Remember folks, I DON'T EXPECT THIS TO ACTUALLY HAPPEN AND YOU SHOULDN'T EITHER.

If only they expanded on the sequence breaking in Prime 1 rather than "fix" it, it would've been really good.
Terrell I can't believe you.
Ani a joke account?
He's sarcastic. I've been called a joke account, but I never considered myself as much. I'm a guy that makes jokes. Sometimes they are unbelievably stupid. But I never considered myself a joke account. When I'm serious people can tell.
Ani is by his very nature sarcastic. I'll never understand how "quirks" can be misconstrued. In the end I expected better of you Terrell.
*shame face*
I'm not your dummy friend! He's an account who makes jokes, clearly. Dummy.
We've "fought" enemies on the scale of a planet this generation. Seriously guys. How much more do you need?
Can't argue with that.More boob physics

I never beat prime 1 and I've never played echos. I feel left out.
I honestly can't compute how it's possible for anyone NOT to love Metroid Prime, but to each their own.
I never expected a smaller process tbh. Actually, at 40 - 45nm was my prediction all the time. Would be nice if they make it happen at 32nm
But I think that's pushing it.
Edit: reading wikipedia it says Intel began selling 32nm processors on January 7, 2010 so I think there's a possibility right? I mean, it is a known and tested technology. Just like what Nintendo loves to use
I really enjoyed the control scheme.MP3 was kinda shitty tho.
I cannot fathom why anybody would believe, or even hypothesise, that the Wii U is packing 6.5x+ performance of the current generation. I expect it to be more powerful than the 360/PS3, and I believe reports stating otherwise are misinformed and/or based on outdated memories, but the fact of the matter is these reports wouldn't exist at all if the system was that far ahead. When you're looking at a full generational leap of hardware, one comparable with mid-high end modern PCs, you're not going to mistake it for even in the ballpark of the last generation. It's not possible.
So the only other possibility is that Nintendo stuck a massively improved GPU in the system at the last minute. And given the usual process of R&D, testing, stability, and manufacturing, this is an incredibly risky, and thus unlikely, scenario.
Upgrades do happen, and so do downgrades. But not to the extent that the system's performance is entirely overhauled.
We need enough power to render individual hairs coming out of a wart on a bokoblin's ass. And they need to flow along with the direction of the wind. Or against the direction in which your character is running. Or along with the air being blown out of the Gust Bellows. You get the idea.I'm pretty much adamant.
3x the performance of a 360 under most scenarios using modern architectures.
I consider that a lot of power. Always have. Hell I consider a 360 a lot of power. I think you're doing something wrong if your vision can't be accurately conceived on that level of tech.

IBM East Fishkill/ Fab 5 is sampling 32NM now, with planned high volume production this Fall. This is the same location the CPU is being manufactured at. The timeline matches up, plus it's a joint global foundries (AMD spin off) venture. So yes, it's possible.
Like I said though, best to keep your expectations in check and count on 40nm and something maybe half that.
I sold my MP triology but I might rebuy it in the future to play on my wii uIf they come out on the Wii U VC you might get a second chance at Prime 1 and get to play Prime 2.
did we have some 6x news again?
Terrell I can't believe you.

Glad that Treyarch seems to enjoy working for Nintendo consoles. They and Vicarious Visions have a good relationship with them; so glad to see things are still good on their side.Sorry AceBandage, today will have to suffice.
Here's parts of the transcription of the Wii U part of my interview with Treyarch boss Mark Lamia. (It was before the release date was known)
The full interview is here: In Norwegian
Have fun.PressFire.no said:PressFire: Do you have a release date?
Lamia: November 13th
PressFire: That's around the same time as the Wii U launch, isn’t it?
Lamia: (smirks) It is... That’s what I hear, rumor-wise. I don’t think they’ve announced a launch date for the Wii U though?
PressFire: They said before christmas? But that overwatch mode, on the Wii U pad ...it seems kind of obvious?
Lamia: (laughs) Do you want a job in game design?
PressFire: (laughs) So is there a Wii U version coming?
Lamia: Ah! We’re not.. we’re only talking about the other platforms at this time.
PressFire: I know.
Lamia: But here’s what I can tell you: Treyarch has a long tradition of working on the Nintendo platforms. A long tradition.
PressFire: That’s right, you did the Wii versions of the Modern Warfare games.
Lamia: Uh huh, and the Wii versions of all our Call of Duty titles. And we made the GameCube version of Big Red One. And the Wii version of Spiderman Web of Shadows. We have a lot of experience on the Wii and on the Nintendo platforms. So yeah, we enjoy the Nintendo Wii. We enjoy working on that.
echoes has a really incredible final area. for me it's the most memorable location in the trilogy.
Ehhh, what he posted about Retro and Monolith Soft was bordering on flame bait. So either it's unintentional and he behaves that way by reflex or he's being a dick on purpose for laughs and to push the envelope. I naturally prefer to assume the latter, because if it were the former... well, that'd be a shame.
I know I'm extremely late to the Android on Wii U rumor talk (I'm very behind in this thread in general, it takes hours to even skim through here to catch up)
and I know most believe that it isn't happening, but what if the rumors about Android isn't really about Android, but just something Nintendo & Google have been working on for a very long time together.
Here is a post I did back in 2010 on the very topic.
http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/forums/index.php?topic=16688.msg731247#msg731247
Now that was back in 2010, and they have had 2 years since then to turn whatever that project was into what it could be now.
We also know how Nintendo will tinker with an idea forever, and just when you've forgotten about it, here they reintroduce it again as if it were brand new and the thing to do.
So what do you guys think? Re-emergence of the NES OS?
How long after a console launch are 3rd parties like nyko allowed to start making controllers?
It's going to be interesting to see what they do with it.
But then who would make the ActiBlizz ports for Nintendo systems?Nintendo should buy Treyarch.
