LOL Tim Thomas, quite selfish. Team victory, team loss, team gets commemorated? Nope, it's a solo thing now.
But to be honest, I would've applauded any Duck who chose to not hang out with Bush.
Bottom line though is that an NHL commemoration is nothing political. There's no agenda being pushed, there's no rally of support for anything.. It's just the White House and the President commemorating a goddamn NHL team, which makes it more about the sport than anything political. Don't be a douchenozzle, just help support our sport in any way you can.
Mostly playing a complete game, definitely making less mistakes and skating with more confidence. Beauch and Fowler have inconsistent chemistry, which sucks for puck moving and can often lead to a turnover at a REALLY bad time, but the RPG line are most certainly back to their former glory. PK is looking great, Selanne on the PP is dangerous, Hiller is standing tall and acting like his old All-Star self, all combine to make the team as deadly as they should be.
That's just in regards to the past 8 games though.

Not surprised, considering his lack of a history and the hit. I think they just wanted this on his record in case he starts making a habit of it.

Could be, but it kind of comes off as damage control too. Usually when I see someone playing the "both parties are to blame for this mess" card, it ends up being they're hiding behind neutrality to avoid showing their partisan bias. But that's just me.
Either way, he's still selfish for trying to turn this into a political statement and not being there with his teammates.

I don't mind that he's Republican or hates Obama, but he didn't have to be such a drama queen about it.
He could've kept it low key and went while keeping firm his beliefs. But my skipping out on it completely, especially when he was the[/I ] star player of the team, while posting a release basically saying "I didn't skip out because of political reasons, but I skipped out because of political reasons", is entirely bush league.
The man clearly wanted this day to be about him and his political beliefs, not about his team. Fuck that shit. We don't need that in hockey.
