What game are you currently playing?

I'm enjoying collecting all the Gwent cards in Witcher 3 at the moment.
I surprised myself in beating many supposed high profile players (as I am usually terrible at anything relying on strategy) and I'm hoping to collect them all.
I'm puzzled how I'm going to get any that don't rely on quests, as it's quite the challenge to locate stuff in that huge world.

Finally getting around to playing UFO 50. It's perfect for Switch. Only played a few of the games so far, Pingolf is kicking my ass - best run was +13. They really nailed the feel of the NES era and weird little games, good collection.

Front Mission 2 (PlayStation 1)
Newly released fanmade translation. Waiting decades for this one. An ultimately a much better option over the completely offbase remake on modern consoles. Shame Square farmed those FM remakes out to such an inept no-name developer.
This PS1 version is obviously the real deal.

Racing Battle C1 (PlayStation 2)
Another translation discovered. A true hidden gem. The quality level of a Gran Tursimo but focused on the street racing of Japan. This game needs way more love. Def check it out if this is your bag.

Xenoblade Chronicles 1 (Switch 2)
Never got around to playing this on the Wii - and I skipped the entire Switch generation - to the now and the ultimate version of the game. I like it - love the characters and world and color pallet - its good wholesome JRPG fun, but its lacking challenging and im hoping that changes. It mostly reminds me of a lesser FFXII.

Sega Ages - OutRun (Switch 2)
These Switch Sega Ages games are just perfection - and this is OutRun just about as good as the game has ever been presented - probably even topping the Saturn 1 import.
However M2 really dropped the ball by not including rumble in this title. I wonder why that is when the other Sega Ages on switch have rumble?

Okay RE9 is a bizarre mix. Like it's a mashup of different games. I mean I like the different parts it's just that the disconnect in gameplay is really weird.

But will IO be allowed to develop a sequel, or does it get farmed off to someone else? If the sequel does happen will it release in the 2030's?
We will see how this will play out, but I also think Amazon doing its own Bond game(s) wouldn't really have to overrule IO's potential sequel as IO's game is based on an original Bond created by them rather than ones we know from movies. It has its own continuity that exists beyond movies, games and books. Amazon's game can be based on one of the past actors, completely new take at character separate from Patrick Gibson's or one that will be playing this role in upcoming 26th movie

It's kinda like with Indiana Jones. If a hypothetical next game will be made, MachineGames doesn't have to be involved. Lucafilm can have a different dev that will do its own thing that isn't tied to Great Circle in any way but is still a game about Indy (although in this case always with Harrison Ford's likeness but may have different VO's). The bigger question is if IO and Amazon will manage to negotiate rights that will be acceptable to both parties as with First Light IO is self-publishing it. I imagine that Amazon wanting to step it in publishing and starting to dictate things according to their vision could lead to IO backing out as creative control wouldn't be on a same level they had here

Talking of Indiana Jones, who knew that the latest game would end up being better than the latest movie in the Indy franchise! Similar situation to what happened with Alien Isolation

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.

This thing is really long (I'm doing a 100% playthrough), but it's not just all the LEGO Star wars games slapped into a package like I thought it would be, it's a massive game combining all nine films and allows you at any point to revisit locations from other movies in the saga. It's the usual sloppy LEGO platforming and battle system but it's a nice palate cleanser with no real difficulty. It is much longer than I expected.

I think I may finally start Crimson Desert today. I think it's had enough improvements. No guarantee I'll stick with it but I want to finally start it.

Onimusha 2, PS2. Just finished it, the ending true boss battle is a bit crap. The Nobunaga fight was easy, I had everything maxed out and ultimate weapon.

Even though it doesn't completely follows the story of the first, this is really a great sequel. Cool secondary characters.

It improves length and gameplay with more attacks; more armor upgrades; more replayability with scenarios/mini-games; shop/bond system

Jubei doesn't have the charisma of Samanosuke and the original has a great horror tone rather than include comic relief moments but as a whole 2 > 1. It's content makes 1 feel like just a prologue.

I love doing Issen (Criticals) on enemies in the game. SO SATISFYING. When I finished my playthrough, 2/3rd's of my kills were from them. Now to wait for Onimusha 3 Remastered....

went on a shopping spree of cheap indie games with great user reviews and not widely known...right now playing cryptmaster, which is basically a wordle RPG

Resident evil requiem. Great game. I think Grace's part plays better, I liked it more. When did Leon turn into Duke Nukem? He was such a humble guy in re2.
He went through insane training after re2 and became a one man army by re4. By the time re9 rolls around it's basically just another walk in the park for him.

Slay the Princess.

What a great VN, it has lots of branching paths, great art direction and engaging dialogues (the VA adds a lot to the experience).

If you play it once you only get to see 20% of the game, you need to play it multiple times to see each scenario. Each chapter has multiple branching paths/resolutions, so there is a lot to see if you are a completionist.

It's really good stuff.

Been playing Ultros since the weekend. Just a fantastic game that blooms into something completely unique.

I doubt it's for everyone but it's been a while since I got so addicted to a novel gameplay loop.

Unfortunately the only screenshot I've got does not adequately convey the mycelic glory of the art style.

That game looks great. Eventually I'll get to this.

Time to replay one of my favorite FPS campaigns of the last couple of generations.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare

The game got such a bum rep at launch because of its MP shenanigans but the SP campaign turned out to be one of the best in the franchise, or games in general, in that release window. I always liken it to the best Killzone campaign we never got. There's a lot of story and thematic parallels between the two games in how their two primary factions are portrayed. There's also a decent amount of Halo: Reach in there in terms of the mission structure and the robust space combat component the game surprises you with after the starting missions on foot. You can tell what timeframe this game was developed in by the fact that Jon fucking Snow and Connor McGreggor have leading roles in it.

Even back in the day, this was a departure from how CoD campaigns usually played out. There were no "Missions", no loading between chapters etc, it's all a single seamless campaign not unlike a Halo campaign. You have a hub ship you return to after each operation where you choose the next mission, including a series of side ops to unlock better gear. They really don't make CoD campaigns like this anymore.

One X version targeted DRS 2160p and on SX it looks pin-sharp, probably holding that max DRS most of the time, though the textures and lighting etc do betray the games last gen nature, it looks sharp but 'simplistic' at times, if that makes sense.

Finally my man has a great taste for once. Great great campaign, loved it.

I'm about 80 hours into starfield.

I'm a little surprised at how many bugs there are so far after launch. Typical Bethesda. The game itself is ok, but it takes some getting used to. It is not Skyrim in space… it has a lot of menus and loading and they use the same buildings a little too often fir generic planet exploration.

That said, at this point, in mid-2026, I do enjoy the game and love them gunplay.

Overall, I like it. But, it has a slower pace than other Bethesda games, and that takes some getting used to. It's a good, but not fantastic, first entry into a new franchise.
