Your opinion isn't uncommon, I suppose it depends how much weight you put on narrative and interesting characters. To me everything since Origins has been totally devoid of it.

Black Flag is really where things started to go off the rails. They had no idea what to do after the Desmond saga, but the game itself was so good that it got away with it. And the shadow of Ezio still looms over the entire series, none of the protagonists since have lived up to him.

I would agree that it's not a good Assassin's Creed game, but it is a remarkably good video game.

The cast of characters is also excellent and it ties into AC3 at the end, so the narrative is just about passable in terms of the wider story.

Great game sure but as a AC title it was awful.

When Black Flag originally released back in 2013 it was basically the realization of the Pirate Adventure game I always dreamed of as a kid. Now modernized it becomes once again the pirate game to end all pirate games.

This and flight sim will keep me fed until GTA releases.

Ahh, fair point, I haven't actually played any AC games, I'm aware of the sci-fi framing but constantly forget. Of all the AC games though the pirate one was the one I most almost played!

I blame gamers for their irrational hatred for QTEs. Fact is that very little else can communicate urgency like a QTE can. There's a reason why goats like Resident Evil 4 (original) used them for quick fire scenarios like traps being sprung.

The physical launch edition as seen in the picture is retailing at 60 € too.
Cheapest i could find was low 50s at some online stores (Austria & Germany) but then usually there is some delivery fee added.

Black flag and Unity are my favorite games in the series. I kind of left the series after syndicate which I didn't like at all. I did buy Valhalla and played about 20 hours but it felt like busy work although the setting was interesting.

I will probably hold off on this since I have a mega backlog and I don't know if I want to commit to playing this again right now although it looks great.

Wasn't going to get this because I don't like giving Ubisoft money but after watching some early game footage...I folded. I remember not being too big a fan of the general gameplay of the original but Resynced looks solid. And of course the ship gameplay is simply sublime.

I only played AC1 and AC2 and loved both of them, but that was a long time ago before the open world genre became oversaturated.

Still want to play this, as there's not much like it, but there's a bit of a mental block. Think it's like you said, where I want/need to go outside, interact with people, and I have fairly limited time.
