Assassin's Reeeeeeeeee: Black Flag Resynced Previews

That's Jeffrey Epstein with a wig.
Fuck in el I can't unsee this now.

Plug him out of the animus and you're playing Jeffrey on an island.

This will bring a whole new darker meaning to the Templars Vs assassins.

The original has a charm to it but that remake looks majestic. I'd still like them to keep some baron sandy islands in it.

Hopefully they listen to the feedback and make animals less tanky. The fact nobody previewing it has complained proves their all paid shills but the game has me so hyped.

I guess I'm just in the twitter bubble of everything is perfect about this game. I take back what I said. I'll be getting it day 1. My only real complaint is the tanky animals.
Same, D1. First Ubisoft game I'm excited about since.. Black Flag OG.

I don't mind the animals "boss fights", surely better than the lame QTE of the original.

Gonna be awesome I'm fucking stoked and so happy to replay this gem!! I'm so glad they removed the multiplayer trophies that was hell hah this will be such a fun game to platinum again.

Supported AC Shadows btw, in AC games there's always evidence of a good story but it gets in the way of its big open worlds and bloat. I do know modern AC games like Mirage are good.

WTF is this

Laughing Man Lol GIF

Oh for fuck's sake. Why is Edward fucking talking? Can't they just stfu? Devs have that habit of always wanting to make the characters something quippy.

And those likes don't even make sense. "You didn't think this through, did you?" No, it didn't on account of being a damn wild animal.

God, I hate this.

Black Flag is my favorite AC. I scrubbed the GMan video and the graphics look wonky to me. Like something uncanny. Probably because all these assets are from like 6 games, 3 generations, 4 continents and there's nothing tying it all together visually. Origins fauna and Mirage wooden boxes and Odyssey ship parts Valhalla combat animations etc. You can really see the Frankenstein stitching with this one. The character models somehow look worse than the OG to me. Especially facial lighting in cutscenes. The environment is realistic and they've all got plastic toon hair. Altogether it's a big step back in visual continuity. I'd probably rather just downsample the original from like 12k next time I want to play it. I kinda like the old AC gameplay loop better anyhow. No healthbars!

Never was able to get into AC before but love the KCD games. Big fan of historical fiction and urban areas in video games.

Any chance I'd like this? How much % of time is devoted to the "modern" storyline (which has immediately turned me off in the past) compared to the "historical" one?

There is no modern storyline in this, they removed it so you're good to go!

Not that much, but still a bit. A lot more than Shadows or Odyssey. This was when they were still somewhat invested in it. Way less than in the first three games though.

Look, pirates are cool and all and I enjoyed the game well enough the first time around, but I don't understand why some people think it's the best AC.. it's probably in my top 5, but the thing everyone talks about the most, naval battles, is dull, easy, repetitive, and easy to cheese..

Sorry Matt Leblanc GIF

I'll probably still buy it at some point though..

Tanky animals are a pet peeve of mine.
If they absolutely want to add a jaguar that can somehow withstand 50 fucking saber strikes, fine, but at least make it so that if we hunt the animal carefully and manage to pounce on it with the hidden blade, then it's an instant kill. Rewarding the player for being patient and carefully hunting the animal.

Why does rain look that bad in this game?

It sticks out how bad those white lines look. The motion is just parallel and their lighting don't match the environment. It's just a few uniformly lit opaque white lines that look like an overlay.

Blag Black is a masterpiece and the naval battles are the best part. If it was among your favorite top 5 as you say you would buy this game at launch

The quality in Youtube always destroys these types of graphical details.

I will wait until the game is live on my screen to judge

Dont know about the rain, but the water physics also look weak as fuck, no ripples while swimming, pretty sure some ps3 games had ripples or even other ubisoft games like ac origin...

No idea how you fuck up water in a pirate game...

Look man, to each their own, and I appreciate your opinion, but I already played through Black Flag and it wasn't my favorite AC game. In my personal opinion the naval battles were easily the worst part of the game since they were easy to exploit and every battle played out just about the same. Just kite the ship behind you, and as long as you are a little faster they can quite literally never even hit you, and that was something I learned very early on.

Remasters aren't always really my thing, but the fact it is a remake has me a little more excited, but not as much as a new game. They are just playing it easy and trying to cash in, and I much rather would have preferred taking it back to the pirate theme and us getting a direct prequel or sequel to the original game.

I already said I would get it at some point, showing that I did like the game the theme, and the environments. Also, the problem with buying it at launch is that I buy a lot of new games and I'm more excited for these games that launch at or near the same time:

Granblue Fantasy Relink: Endless Ragnarok
Beast of Reincarnation
Marvel Tokon
The Sinking City 2
Star wars: Zero Company

Theres more to it than the ship battles I mean people love it for the whole take on being a pirate as it's easily one of the best pirate games to date....we don't really get "pirate" games. It's the shanties, the atmosphere, the ship battles, it's all combined for a great experience.

Also it's been 13 years since it originally released so that's plenty of time for it to feel new again. If it isn't your favorite ac that's fine but it's coming off like it can't be anyone else's or shouldn't be their favorite. It's a great game one of the better acs easily.

Not sure I like the new character models. They look more youthful and less rugged. Some like Charles Vane and Jack Rackham look too clean even.

This is not an improvement. Left looks like an actual pirate you wouldn't wanna mess with. Right looks like a dandy ol' chap you'd play golf with.
Yeah, literally everyone looks off. Not a fan of new Edward or Blackbeard either.

Still, game looks great

The reflections at 24 seconds actually look kinda of bad to me. It's way too clear and clean, looks like an actual mirror, without any distortion or variation, I don't know, it looked quite off to me there.

For sure, you make some great points, and yes, the pirate theme is the best part for me as well. However, I feel as though since we don't get many pirate themed games that are worth a damn that people glaze over better games in the franchise because their settings aren't as cool.

13 years.. really? Damn I'm getting old... 😆 Ok then.. carry on.

Oh and by the way, no, I only speak for myself and I'm well aware of that. If you ever read a take from me just know I'm just giving my personal take about the way I feel currently or felt at the moment of playing. I like to be a little analytical about things at times and gameplay always takes precedence for me over any other smoke and mirrors.

I just like comparing my personal opinions to those of others and hearing thoughtful takes on why they feel the way they do. It's never a "I know better than you" type of thing with me. I just love discussing, debating, and hearing where other people are coming from.

Opinions are what make the world turn, and even if we disagree it's what keeps us out of stagnation and drives the industry we all love so much.

Sometimes I like to hear deeper thoughts on games and things in general rather than the same regurgitated overplayed answers so many people give.. it starts to feel like a lot of people are just following hype and can't think of feel for themselves which is why I like hearing in greater detail while they feel the way they do, and if someone can't provide that it feels as if that person is just letting popularity form their decisions for them.

Went from most unhinged version of Nick Mullen possible to Bradley Cooper.

If anything, the reduced quality of the youtube videos makes the issue less noticeable, not more. And it looks like total crap:

Really? 🤦🏻
Didn't notice that, but that's also a serious fuck up for a game where you swim *a lot*.
