GTA VI physical edition won't include discs

Gamefly users like us are fucked on this one, I guess, lol.

Fuck off not including the disc at launch. I have a feeling I'm in the same boat as a lot of you who were planning to sell it once the proper PC version comes out
Unfortunately I'm a sucker for R* games and I can't wait. Would've loved to play it day one PC

Can we expect a new trailer tommorrow? I don't think so honestly all we got were new Screenshots.
Most probably yes. Thats what we're all expecting

Isn't that the road the industry took for a couple of years now?
Most Japanese games contain the full game on disc and don't need day 1 patch. All Nintendo (except for Pokemon, but they don't fully own it) and Sony 1st party single player games are playable from the physical copy without day 1 patch. Its just western publishers like EA, Ubisoft, Microsoft, Warner Bros (funny that they talk about importance of Physical media in movies) and now Rockstar who do this.

I want to dismiss the no leaks rationale as a smokescreen for no used sales. But they aren't promoting early access. So I bet no leaks was part of their reasoning even though I think it's primarily no used sales.

Sorry Gamestop.

I'm not going to buy it on release day, but I don't think they care. Huffing some copium and hoping for near future disc version.

Well, my hype went into the ground.
I struggle to get into Game Pass games simply because I don't truly have them and they can be taken at any moment, and I know it's my problem.

But I am not paying $80-90 for some digital
license, GTFO Rockstar.

Who needs Microsoft when you can use Rockstar to literally kickstart a trend to kill the used games market? We should all be pointing fingers and ask Microsoft and Sony why they would allow this.

People complaining about no physical disc is understandable but just remember this is GTA VI and Rockstar can do pretty much whatever they want and people are going to buy it regardless. Same won't be true for many other games that might try the same bullshit. And they're definitely doing it to save $$$ and kill the used game market.

This is where the industry is going unfortunately. Not just Take Two. Now the game will not be resold in any way shape or form. Let's face it, PC is all digital. Xbox is already all about codes in boxes for years. Sony is alongside Nintendo the one ones that still have the full games on discs...but it's just a matter of time for Sony and then Nintendo in a few years.

That was 13 years ago. But man what a time to be alive. That's the difference between having Playstation being run by gamers and people that understood videogames instead of corporate suits.
Nothing is where an industry is going if people reject it. The problem is not enough people reject it. Reject it and it's not where the industry is going.

For example, it's not happening because just look anywhere at reactions, but if nobody pre-ordered and digital sales were low and there was an uproar about no physical edition, then Rockstar would make an announcement, and a physical version would "magically" appear.

I am guessing there will be a GTA 6- Super championship editon/Deluxe edition by the time PS6 comes out along with its Xbox counterpart..

I'll always miss the option to have physical or a physical collector's, especially for console titles.

But like I said decades ago, digital should always be cheaper than what physical would be.

This isn't brave, this isn't bold, it's just greedy and gross. But hey, could've been worse I guess. Plastic boxes with a piece of paper inside, what a future, lol.

So there's no good reason to buy digitally from the PSN/Xbox stores unless you just don't give a damn about the box or the "physical" editions sell out.

You'd just order "physical" and you get the box along with the digital code as opposed to the nothing you get from the digital storefronts.

I don't think this will become a trend. Not every game is GTA 6. Rockstar could sell GTA 6 in a box of shit, and people would still buy it.

This is simply the result of GTA VI being the biggest entertainment product ever made.

Box of shit with a disc inside would be better than this.

Every GTA came with a physical map/poster, not anymore I guess.....
Something to read on the shitter

Seems like other than having a box art and a physical package to place in a shelf, there's basically no point in ordering the physical release.

Easy pass for me then, even if it is GTA. I'm fine with downloads on disc, as long as the disc is still present. But a physical version without a disc? Lol fuck right off. I don't give a fuck about your issues with leaks. Give me a disc.

Game likely exceeds the capacity of 2 PS5 discs, and they didn't want to do 3 discs (or maybe can't) and this would likely turn to 4 or 5 discs on Xbox. Also probably trying to avoid spoilers like what happened with RDR2.

I don't doubt curbing used sales is part of it though.

I guess I can pre-order down to the last minute since I'm going digital. I'd like to have the box at some point though just to put it next to GTA V on my shelf.

Definitely a double dip scenario when they announce the 'other edition'.

The only positive from this is that it will be funny seeing other publishers trying to do the same ($80 price, and no disc) only to realize they don't get a free pass because they aren't GTA

The leaks excuse is bullshit, leaks are free marketing. The internet went into meltdown when streams of GTA5 started popping up a few days early.

No one is expecting Breaking Bad levels of writing from the story. Let me guess, one of them betrays the other for money, shock horror.

This is just to extract a few extra sales.
