The Odyssey (2026) Trailer

A large opening weekend wouldn't be too surprising. Nolan typically makes very good films, he draws in audiences, and most people won't know nor care anything about the controversial casting decisions.

What will be interesting to see though is what kind of legs Odyssey has. The trailers still haven't grabbed my interest in the slightest, and I love most of Nolan's films. Will it get good word of mouth from public reviews? Or will it decline sharply due to negative word of mouth after the open? 🤔

Might have legs depending on how well those actors performances are. Still Nolan, which people are well know of, so theres the "fishing" for the interest.
I wouldn't put my faith on Tom Holland though, still to this day I can't understand his appeal and his acting is bad.

I went to see an advanced screening of Disclosure Day a couple weeks ago and they surprised us with a 5 minute clip of this before the movie.

Looked amazing.

I have a choice between imax or 70mm, alas not imax 70mm (maybe, not sure our screen is legit). Not really sure what the difference for this film will be.

Two concerns, aspect ratio and resolution.

It was shot in 1.43:1 70mm imax. Regular imax is 1.9:1. Regular 70mm is 2.2:1.

Despite that, traditional 70mm will be a great way to see it due to the very high resolution of 5 perf 70mm film, effectively 8K, as long as the theater also has premium sound. That'll beat out a typical imax projector which is 2k or 4K w/ Laser designation.

The aspect ratio is not a huge deal since it was composed for all formats.

I'm seeing it in 5 perf 70mm first and then in imax 70mm 15 perf.

Not all of us have an IMAX theater in our mansion....fucker :P

though damn, now I have a new criteria if/when I hit the lottery. What level graphics card do I need for adequate resolution to play games on an imax screen????

My local IMAX is actually reinstalling its 70mm IMAX projector just for this movie. It normally uses dual-laser IMAX.

Elliott Paige playing a warrior for one

I think Paige sucks as an actor but I don't think they are playing Achilles like the rumor says.

Paige/Holland/Damon are a 1,2,3 punch of mid to bad actors to me that have me most worried about this movie.

I get Elliot but Tom and Matt bad??????
Nick Young Wtf GIF

Damon is a fine actor and I like him, but not sure if he fits this role.

Then again might have said the same thing about McCaunghey and Interstellar before I watched the movie, and he turned out to be just perfect.

Also, most of you guys are borderline homosexual if you think Lupita is ugly.

She is STUNNING, 10 out of 10 face. Her beauty is worthy of Helen.

The problem with Lupita is she doesn't fit the classical short hair African hairstyle, and she uses it all the time. Makes her look like a little boy.

She isn't Moesha. I'd fight for Moesha.

Why do we fall down Mr Odysseus, So we can kill the Cyclops.

Ahead of Christopher Nolan's adaptation of The Odyssey, the Greek epic is getting another reimagining courtesy of artificial intelligence.
Michael Caine's AI clone has voiced an audiobook version of Homer's poem, alongside a full cast of other AI voices and music.
The adaptation is available for free on the ElevenReader from ElevenLabs, the AI audio company that counts Matthew McConaughey among its investors.

It doesn't sound that bad.

Hmmm I wonder why... 🤔
Thats REALLY bizarre as the casting seems tailor made to appeal to social media drenched "influencer" types.

Either it's so snooty only "the real" critics would appreciate it or it's so bad they need to make sure the entrenched pros who are bought and paid for can't ragebait it.

I say its the latter for sure. There can't be any other reason. They must be super serious about making that money back and know that they're walking a fine line lol "Professional" reviewers will lap it up based on the diversity of the cast and the version its based on, while influencers will drown it BECAUSE of its diverse casting choices, dialogue and the fact its based off of Wilson's text.

I'm looking forward to this one. The casting doesn't bother me at all. What bothers me is that I can't get a good seat for the entire run of the film on Imax 70mm in Universal City Walk.

I might have to go catch it late at night or 7am or something alone, because there are single seats sprinkled around. I think if the reviews are good, I'm just going to go solo to the IMAX and then take my family to a normal theater.

Meme: "Fuck them kids." Seriously, though, I'm in the same boat. I don't do City Walk because I'm a drinker and they oddly don't let you take drinks from the bar into the IMAX theater, specifically. I do TCL Chinese, but it's the same deal for the IMAX 70mm screenings: 7am or wait a week or two. Oh well.

Or: There's more to this film than is being marketed and they'd rather have the first round of moviegoers experience the gimmick than have it spoiled by influencer/youtube retards. Again, after this is released, if I'm wrong, I will eat my hat, but I'm still convinced this is not simply a straight-forward adaptation of The Odyssey. The trailer/casting/images are all just a bit too strange. Or: Maybe it is just The Odyssey and I'm insane. I suppose we'll find out soon. I just don't see why Chris Nolan would bother with the latter - it's been done.
